The Oak Wood Arms Hotel, situated in the centre of Shannon town, provides an ideal base from which to explore all that the West of Ireland has to offer.

The hotel is only a 5-minute drive from Shannon Airport. Deep within the Clare countryside lays the town of Shannon and the international gateway to the world's destinations. Our promise is to ensure absolute standards in all of our 100 rooms and suites and guarantee true comfort with first class facilities. The equipment in our recently completed gymnasium is state-of-the-art, while our sauna and steam room is available to those seeking quiet relaxation. Our variety of meeting room facilities also make our hotel an ideal location for business, with a capacity for up to 300 delegates and a further 8 supporting syndicate rooms.

The hotel offers a choice of dining in either our Palm Court Restaurant or Sophie's Lounge.

The Palm Court Restaurant serves a blend of Irish and international cuisine in a beautiful setting.

Sophie's Lounge offers a less formal alternative to enjoy the hotel's cuisine. You can choose from a daily carvery or a comprehensive bar menu.

Area information

Recommended places to visit include Shannon Town, Ballcasey crafts centre, estuary walks and Skycourt Shopping Centre.

Within 10 minutes of the hotel, you will find Bunratty village, castle and Folk Park, Knappogue Castle, Dromoland and Mooghaun Hill fort, and Craggaunowen. There is also Quin village, with its 15th century abbey, and Cratloe Woods.

Within one hour of the hotel, you will find the Cliffs of Moher, Doolin (with seasonal ferry to the Aran Islands) and the Burren National Park. Beaches such as Lahinch, Fanore and Quilty, Loop Head peninsula and Lough Derg are also nearby.

The hotel is also within 20 minutes of the large towns of Limerick and Ennis, with plenty of retail therapy awaiting you.

Possibility to arrive late in the evening, even at night;

The description of the way from the airport was too schematic for us; we

it is a bit of a gem really, I was expecting a dodgy airport hotel. The food at the restaurant was good.

The food at the restaurant could have fed a small family... ie. the sizes were excessive. Also, being 6'3" the bed was way short.

The hotel is beautiful. I loved the decor ( the amount of oak, the comfortable rooms) and the welcome sign on the T.V. when I arrived. The food was very good and the Staff were friendly and helpful. As I had a broken ankle, I sincerely appreciated the wheelchair provided and the help and concern I received from the Staff. I enjoyed the Irish breakfast also.

I found the bathroom a little small for someone on crutches or in a wheelchair. The positive features of your hotel far outweigh this one concern.
