A former manor house dating back to the 18th century, this ivy-clad residence has been totally refurbished to provide the warmth of a country home with the style of a luxury hotel. Located in the centre of the attractive medieval town of Ennis, County Clare, the hotel provides an ideal starting point from which to explore the famous attractions of Ireland's west coast. The Burren, Cliffs of Moher, Ailwee Caves and Bunratty Folk Park are all within easy reach, whilst Connemara and the Aran Islands provide some spectacular options for day trips. The staff were so welcoming, and Noreen at reception could not have been more helpful. We changed rooms from one in what seemed to be an older section to a delightul room with a bay window, and she was so helpful with this. We liked the set of sitting areas on the main floor, and the pub had trad music players the night we were there. Delightful. The dining room was too.

We liked the comfortable, sizable bedroom. Quiet. Interesting menu. Food nicely presented. Luxury lounges. The tv in the bedroom had a noisy/grainy picture. Limited choice of channels. For just a weekend stay it was not a priority and we're not tv addicts anyway.

It's the nicest hotel In Ennis and centrally located. The rooms were spacious, clean, comfortable and updated. The reception staff was friendly and helpful. We were there the night of the Boston Marathon bombings and when we left the next day we were headed to Cork to another Flynn Hotel Group hotel. The clerk at Old Ground must have called ahead because when we arrived in Cork there was a bottle of wine, fruit basket, and handwritten note from the staff saying they were keeping our family and friends in their prayers. It doesn't get any classier than that! There was no cold water in the bathroom- it was either hot or warm.

We stayed here for two nights. The rooms were large and well appointed. The beds were super comfortable. The Old Ground is in an excellent position being right on the main street. The Hotel has an excellent dining room as well as a pub so it suits all tastes. I'd definitely recommend the Old Ground in Ennis.

Friendly staff Bar food was lovely Room was large and comfortable however it absolutely stank to the high heavens of cigarette smoke (we weren't given a choice or informed that the room was smoking) it wouldn't have been so bad if a window was at least opened, we had to open all windows and leave to let the room air out a bit

All the staff were excellent in the warmth of their welcome and attentiveness especially as our stay was over a particularly busy weekend. Loved the open fire and the relaxed atmosphere in the large lounge area. The bar area is a little dark and smells stale. The couches in the lounge and in our bedroom look a little tired.

Bed was big and comfortable and the room itself was very clean. Modern enough decor and not too much clutter made it nice and spacious. Staff were very friendly and helpful and always smiling! cant think of specifics... maybe the bath/shower was a little narrow but thats if i am picking holes.

A great value 3 night deal that included one free dinner which was exceptional in an exceptional restaurant. The Poets bar was also wonderful with great service, atmosphere and conviviality. While relaxing in the lounge area with a book I was constantly disturbed by the sound of other guests and staff walking through it to rooms and other parts of the hotel, this was not conducive to a pleasurable and/or relaxing experience.

Location is very convient to do shopping and go out for dinner. The parking area is quite spaceful. The internal decoration is lovely. Ennis is good town with cheaper goods comparing to the other big towns in Ireland.
