Just seconds from cultural Temple Bar, Abigail's Hostel has a great central location on Aston Quay, overlooking the Liffey River.
Score from 443 reviews Very good
Very noisy rooms Poor breakfast Only one key per room
Attitude of staff and their inability to except when they make mistakes
Breakfast was ok, facilities were adequate, location was good.
From the pics i saw on the website I expected twin beds not bunks but this type of confusion can happen. Immediately asked to check out and get a refund but was told the manager would co e and see me, he didnt, was then told he would be an hour, he never came at all that day or the next so we left after finding and paying for the Citi hotel round the corner which was lovely. We eventually got a response through booking.com saying we wouldnt get a refund as we checked out too late at 4pm. One receptionist advised that we wouldnt get a refund because we booked through a 3rd party and he knew it wouldnt happen because had 12 yrs experience in hotel business, so he had to be right. I didnt mind the mix up but the evasive and unresponsive manager was very poor, so i wont be staying here again and will deter others as the situation was not resolved fairly, very poor hospitality and service which i wouldnt expect in such a friendly City.
Location, free coffee and tea, We can leave the bags after checking out, lift, free beer when you arrive
Some noise during the night
its character, central position
Although rooms were basic as expected it would have been nice to have a chair in the room as there was nowhere to sit other than the bed which was a bunk
Great location at Dublin
Little Noise on Weekend....
Location, location, location
We booked a room for 4 (bunk beds) the room was to small for 4 , it was tight and there was no place to sit, as we were two mothers taking teenagers to a concert in the Olympia there was no space for them to put make up on , hair etc. you no what their like, the room was way to small, other than that it was perfect place. Staff was friendly, and the location was perfect
Location and staff are nice
Room of 10 people with only 1 toilet with shower is not enough. People use it all the time and get smelly all the room so you have to keep windows open and then you are frozen in the room.
Location, free CD etc. good common area
Noise from other rooms
Perfect location at Temple Bar, with the fantastic Gogarty's Bar next door! Very good Wifi, easy connection with various airport-buses, and super cheap!
Proximity to airport bus, polite staff, fun area, live music nightly
ALL doors slam so if you're on the first floor with the breakfast room you will be woken by traffic stomping past your room. Bathroom was not regularly checked for cleanliness, room incredibly cramped and Windows don't open to let in a little fresh air.
very close to busses to the airport, suitable for long and short stay
Generally a nice backpackers. The staff was friendly and some of them could give helpful advice. Also, the breakfast was yummy - I love fresh fruit!!! It was very central and loads of things were going on just around the corner.
There's only one key for all people in one room. If you are out and wanna get inside you either have to wake up your room-mates or you have to borrow the spare key, which you have to bring back to the reception immediately -- This also implies that anybody can walk into any room! Also, if you have problems to sleep when it's noisy - bring earplugs!!! Prices on weekends are simply too high.
4 of us booked into the 4 bed private room we had a great time and breakfast included excellent for the money and staff were very friendly
The location in the middle of temple bar is great. The staff was very nice and helpful.
Of course it is noisy in the middle of temple bar, that´s totally ok. I am even fine with drunk people coming home late and beeing loud. BUT it is not ok if other hostel guests piss at your door (all the mess ran into our room and soaked my bagpack) and knock on it all night and terrorize you till the early morning with shouting, swearing and throwing beer cans. I had to clean the mess on my own with some towels, the night recepionist was all alone and could not help (he didn´t even ask the rioters to stop the terror). The hostel needs security staff to keep the "normal" guests safe. We felt threatened and scared. The hostel agreed to refund the whole amount, I appreciate it, but nevertheless the whole stay was ruined. We switched to another place and had to pay a lot of money, because all the budget places were - of course- fully booked.
The young man at the front desk was very accommodating, friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay again.
The location, great value for the money, fair breakfast, coffee and tea all day long. Great staff especially Karolina,Silvia and Marcelo! Thank you guys for your service!
We got our rooms cleaned and trash emptied every day from Wednesday till Monday, but not in our last two days. Was a bit dissapointed to see cleaning was not happening on a daily basis or a standard but only when a certain employee was working.
until 2 a.m. :-)
Lovely location! Great bar, with great music and free half-pint. Nice common areas, such as library. Nice with coffee beeing served all day long, for free.
EXTREMELY NOISY!! (I don't mind some partying, but at 3-4 am, cleaning trolleys are beeing pulled along the cobbled road, making crazy amounts of noise! This would probably be a general problem of staying in the Temple Bar area, so wouldn't stay there again...) Breakfast was acceptable, but mainly jam and not much else.
The room, breakfast and location of the hostel was great.
The shower facility is really dirty and you have to pay for towels- some hostels offer rental towels.
Unhelpful staff Room not ready on time No towels with room No towels available to rent when needed Partying neighbors Very poor wifi Very badly run Not helpful with problems in room Mostly foreign staff. No Irish
The staff were helpful and polite I would visit Dublin again and stay at Gogartys as it was reasonably priced
Wifi only worked in some area of the hotel Pillows were like pancakes Window always got stuck and was hard to open
Centrally located, not too expensive, decent breakfast options.
Always loud, no matter what time of day. I slept with ear plugs and an eye mask and I could still hear the music from downstairs, which goes from 2:30 pm to 2:30am, a point of pride for Gogarty's. If you're looking for a quiet, restful place to sleep - don't stay in Temple Bar is the lesson. Gogarty's is no exception.
