Friendly welcome Peace and quiet Use of the lounge Excellent breakfast View of the lake Ample space in the wardrobe
Remote and hard to find Shower room a bit small Only one chair in our twin-bedded room
Long narrow road to lodge
Everything was great, from the hosts down to the accommodation. The location was beautiful and the facilities were decent. It was off the beaten path and kind of hard to find but the seclusion made it perfect.
Small tv with only a few channels.
Lovely views and very friendly welcome
They serves the best brakefast in Ireland.
Hospitality Food was very good. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Beds were very comfortable. We were addressed by our first names which was a lovely touch. Overall we were made very welcome and all our needs were addressed. Staff gave us helpful information on places of interest to visit.
Portarra Lodge was were isolated and it would have been excellent if it had been closer to the city and seaside. It`s location meant that we had a lot of travelling to do It must be a great place for people who are keen on fishing. The only other complaint we had is that it was very noisy at times. there seemed a lot of banging of doors when people were retiring. Luckily this did not hinder our sleep but it was a bit annoying at times.
Sympathie de nos hôtes.
Portarra Lodge is superb in every way. It is perfectly located for trips to the Aran Islands as well as the inviting city of Galway. Michael and Joyce are wonderful hosts, taking care of your every need, preparing wonderful breakfasts, and helping with every travel need -- even getting advance booking and tickets for the Aran Island ferry. We'd definitely come back and encourage others to visit Portarra.
Beautiful location on Loch Corrib. Michael and Joyce give a warm welcome and keep a clean, comfortable, friendly house. The full Irish breakfast
Wifi is a little weak A car is essential
Owner and staff helpful and friendly. View from bedroom spectacular. Perfect if your a fisherman
No good if you have no transport. Said on Booking.com 7 miles from Galway local bus runs by. Totally different in reality. Bus runs from local village 3 miles away, hourly.
The location was breathtaking, so quiet at night! The owners were very welcoming and helpful. the place it perfect for those looking for the spirit of irish nature. Loved it so much!
Location, set on beautiful lake. Quiet, tranquil. Introductions provided to other guests as opportunities arose, facilitated meeting people from other countries.
Fairly spartan facilities. Needs more "softer" comforts to make it, as other than a fishing lodge. Plumbing issues on arrival, not a good introduction. Stayed in 8 B&Bs all together so easy comparisons made.
nice bed and breakfast
too far out no amenities, middle of nowhere
Good host, very welcoming despite our late arrival!
friendly owner/ staff. nothing was a problem. Very welcoming. Yummy breakfast.Wish we had asked about getting a bite to eat when we made the booking so that we could have met the 9pm deadline at the forge restaurant/pub
Nice hosters, beautiful place , homey
Very friendly and helpful hosts. Excellent fishing. Lovely surroundings. Will definitely go again soon.
Fabulous!!! Michael and Joyce were very warm and gracious hosts and the setting and accommodation was wonderful. Breakfast was so tasty - couldn't say enough good things about the Portarra.
It's about 15 minutes drive to Moycullen village so that's a bit of a drawback if you want to go for a pint.
staff were lovely, breakfasts were very tasty and plenty of food. Michael dropped us to a wedding because we could not get a taxi, he was very sound. The location is lovely, very quiet and beautiful scenery.
we did not realise we were so far out of the village of Moycullen and it was impossible to get taxi's home after a night out. If you are not going out, or are driving, then it would be an ideal location, especially if you are there for the fishing.
