Sympathie de nos hôtes.
Portarra Lodge is superb in every way. It is perfectly located for trips to the Aran Islands as well as the inviting city of Galway. Michael and Joyce are wonderful hosts, taking care of your every need, preparing wonderful breakfasts, and helping with every travel need -- even getting advance booking and tickets for the Aran Island ferry. We'd definitely come back and encourage others to visit Portarra.
Beautiful location on Loch Corrib. Michael and Joyce give a warm welcome and keep a clean, comfortable, friendly house. The full Irish breakfast
Wifi is a little weak A car is essential
Owner and staff helpful and friendly. View from bedroom spectacular. Perfect if your a fisherman
No good if you have no transport. Said on Booking.com 7 miles from Galway local bus runs by. Totally different in reality. Bus runs from local village 3 miles away, hourly.
The location was breathtaking, so quiet at night! The owners were very welcoming and helpful. the place it perfect for those looking for the spirit of irish nature. Loved it so much!
Location, set on beautiful lake. Quiet, tranquil. Introductions provided to other guests as opportunities arose, facilitated meeting people from other countries.
Fairly spartan facilities. Needs more "softer" comforts to make it, as other than a fishing lodge. Plumbing issues on arrival, not a good introduction. Stayed in 8 B&Bs all together so easy comparisons made.
nice bed and breakfast
too far out no amenities, middle of nowhere
Good host, very welcoming despite our late arrival!
friendly owner/ staff. nothing was a problem. Very welcoming. Yummy breakfast.Wish we had asked about getting a bite to eat when we made the booking so that we could have met the 9pm deadline at the forge restaurant/pub
Nice hosters, beautiful place , homey
Very friendly and helpful hosts. Excellent fishing. Lovely surroundings. Will definitely go again soon.
Fabulous!!! Michael and Joyce were very warm and gracious hosts and the setting and accommodation was wonderful. Breakfast was so tasty - couldn't say enough good things about the Portarra.
It's about 15 minutes drive to Moycullen village so that's a bit of a drawback if you want to go for a pint.
staff were lovely, breakfasts were very tasty and plenty of food. Michael dropped us to a wedding because we could not get a taxi, he was very sound. The location is lovely, very quiet and beautiful scenery.
we did not realise we were so far out of the village of Moycullen and it was impossible to get taxi's home after a night out. If you are not going out, or are driving, then it would be an ideal location, especially if you are there for the fishing.
Joyce and Michael were wonderful hosts, very informative and attentive. The room was comfortable and very clean, with a view out over the garden and lake. it was chilly when we were there and a pleasant fire was always burning in the fireplace. Michael and Joyce keep a lot of animals (outdoors), including horses, canaries, finches, quail, and chickens.
Really the only downside - which would be an upside for someone else - was the distance from town. It's about a ten-minute drive.
Michael and Joyce are friendly hosts who spare no effort to look after their guests. The breakfasts are first-class. The location is peaceful and idyllic.
Like most people we are accustomed to in-room tea and coffee making facilities, but this is a minor detail.
Michael & Joyce were terrific hosts? Lovely breakfasts. A very pleasant stay. Loved the local fish pie, recommended by Michael. Tricky to find but well worth the effort.
Nothing to dislike.
Location. scenery. charismatic owners.
No tea etc in rooms
Nice comfortable room and friendly owners. Good breakfast. Beautiful location on edge of Lough. Very much a location for anglers.
No tea/coffee in room. A bit isolated.
Very friendly atmosphere, excellent breakfast
Just AMAZING b&b ... lovely staff, amazing food, and the location is just stunning !!
long way out of moycullin, very bad roads. not worth the drive.
Lovely people , clean friendly, good bars and restaurants nearby, not too far from Galway.
Only a shower, a bath would have been lovely
- Owners are lovely people. - Nature around is beautiful.
- Room was not equipped with tea and coffee making facilities and enough plugging connections. - Place difficult to find even with navigator. -Difficult access through very narow roads with not enough signage. - No Wifi available. - TV (Very small and old) did not work at all.
Very welcoming - made to feel like a member of the family! Beautiful house Fantastic lakeside location Lovely breakfast Offered drinks on arrival Lots of banter and anecdotes!
Friendly hosts Great lake view
