Overlooking the Grand Canal, the Portobello Hotel is less than a 10-minute walk from St Stephen's Green. It offers spacious rooms with free Wi-Fi, a fine restaurant and a nightclub. The comfortable rooms at the Portobello feature TVs, hairdryers and tea/coffee-making facilities. They include bathrooms with bathtubs, showers and free toiletries. First opened in 1793, the Portobello offers a long tradition of hospitality in a modern atmosphere. The restaurant has an international menu, while the traditional bar offers light snacks and a range of beverages. Guests can dance the night away on weekends at The Rain Nite Club, which adjoins the hotel. Dublin Castle and Trinity College are both one mile from the hotel. The hotel is on a bus route with a direct service to central Dublin. Hotel Rooms: 25 Most recent booking for this hotel was today at 05:41 from Norway.

The bed was comfy, good local bar downstairs. The manager was extremely unhelpful, telling me that he couldn't add or remove breakfast from a booking! Also, requested early morning alarm call did not happen. In general, I discovered that there are plently other hotels in the same price range much closer to the City centre.

The location of the hotel was convenient, Like most father's when your wife is in hospital (Coombe) I needed a location that was within 5 min drive and also somewhere that was clean and comfortable, This was the ideal location. Will be using this hotel again

It was handily located for the city and the Aviva Stadium. The nightclub was good fun for a weekend. My friend managed to book the 4 star Hilton along the road for just €67/night B&B over the same weekend, nearly €20/night cheaper

Staff were fantastic ( Sandi-reception and Colin-Bar) Food was good standard great offers. Very close to Luas and is very handy for shoppers and business people alike. Security could have been a bit tighter on the door as regards people hassleing customers in the evening but over all very happy with the bar itself.

I could not fault the hotel, our room, the staff & the breakfast were lovely. - Only big problem was dont stay in room 106 - The bar below had very loud music playing untill 3am on all 3 nights of the weekend, Friday, Saturday & Sunday - 106 is a 2 room suite our four kids were in the adjoining room & the music wasn't too bad in there - but as my teenage daughter said " It sounds like its coming out of the walls" in our room - I bought ear plugs but could still hear it!

I simply cannot think of anything that I were unhappy with. Everything was excellent: friendly staff, spacious rooms, wi-fi (as promised, free of charge and the connectionwas fast). I am definitely staying there again if I come back to Dublin!

Clean and comfortable. Staff were polite, helpful and friendly. Access to the hotel is a little annoying as you have to ring a bell and wait for the door to be opened. Key card access would be much more convenient.

Great welcome, very nice staff, comfy beds Breakfast didn't start until 8 which was a bit late for us unfortunately, and the hot water took a while to come through for showers.

First e-mail I did upon returning to my main home in Cape Town (I booked from London) was to write to Portobello Hotel and thank their staff, indeed all those in Dublin, Irish or otherwise. Really friendly staff throughout, real Irish hospitality. Best short break I have ever had. The signal for Wi-Fi is not great in the upper rooms - old hotel building I suppose.

I stayed there for a six nations game in Feb 2102 with a friend. It's a good location, because there's easy access into the city centre and plenty of buses passing by. It's possible to walk to St.Stephens Green in about 10mins. There's a bus that will take you directly to the airport. Good bars nearby and the staff are very helpful. Free WiFi if you need it with a strong signal throughout. It's not five star, but the price is very good. Breakfast stops a little early, fine if I was on business - but I wasn'T.

It is readily accessed from the City centre, is quite clean and comfortable and reasonably priced. Itwould have been nice if the bar food had a regular veggie option.

It's a small, quaint hotel located near the city center. Facilities could stand some upgrades.
