Portobello Hotel33 Richmond Street South, Rathmines, D2 Dublin (Show map) Very good, Score from 308 reviews“The bed was comfy, good local bar downstairs.”
Andrew,
Perth
Overlooking the Grand Canal, the Portobello Hotel is less than a 10-minute walk from St Stephen's Green. It offers spacious rooms with free Wi-Fi, a fine restaurant and a nightclub. The comfortable rooms at the Portobello feature TVs, hairdryers and tea/coffee-making facilities. They include bathrooms with bathtubs, showers and free toiletries. First opened in 1793, the Portobello offers a long tradition of hospitality in a modern atmosphere. The restaurant has an international menu, while the traditional bar offers light snacks and a range of beverages. Guests can dance the night away on weekends at The Rain Nite Club, which adjoins the hotel. Dublin Castle and Trinity College are both one mile from the hotel. The hotel is on a bus route with a direct service to central Dublin. Hotel Rooms: 25

The hotel has the best price-benefit ratio in Dublin. It serves a fantastic experience to the customer with its history and convenience. I would choose it if I have a chance to return to Ireland.

I made my reservation on line from the states. When I arrived there was a mix up as to my actual arrival date as the Hotel had me down for the day before. The gentleman behind the desk basically told me I was out of luck, that my card had been charged and if I wanted to stay I would have to pay again. If I had another option I would have taken it, but after a long flight from NY I just wanted to get in a room. It was a shame as I returned to Dublin for 2 days at the end of my trip and stayed else where when I could have stayed at the Portobello again. The room was clean and perfect for my trip. Because of the above, sorry to say, would not recommend the Portobello to others.

The bed was comfy, good local bar downstairs. The manager was extremely unhelpful, telling me that he couldn't add or remove breakfast from a booking! Also, requested early morning alarm call did not happen. In general, I discovered that there are plently other hotels in the same price range much closer to the City centre.

I stayed there for a six nations game in Feb 2102 with a friend. It's a good location, because there's easy access into the city centre and plenty of buses passing by. It's possible to walk to St.Stephens Green in about 10mins. There's a bus that will take you directly to the airport. Good bars nearby and the staff are very helpful. Free WiFi if you need it with a strong signal throughout. It's not five star, but the price is very good. Breakfast stops a little early, fine if I was on business - but I wasn'T.

It is readily accessed from the City centre, is quite clean and comfortable and reasonably priced. Itwould have been nice if the bar food had a regular veggie option.

It may be 10 minutes from the centre of Dublin but the walk is more than worth the excellent standard of room, cleanliness, value and staff. Our room was large, impeccably clean and had all the conveniences. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The walk into town is really not that far and it's through Grafton Street which is great. Definately a very good option if you are on a budget but want your comfort and privacy.

This was an ideal room for two runners to share prior to running the Dublin Marathon. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean. The shower was top-notch. Plus the hotel was a short walking distance (about 15mins) from the shops, rsstaurants and bars located near St.Stephen's Green for post-race festivities.

I stayed in a twin room towards the back which was quite and I had a great sleep every night. Room was cleaned daily and spotless on return every evening. Lots of good cheap places to eat in this area and a nice 10 minute walk to Stepens Green. It is ideal and good value for a place to stay if working in Dublin for the week. Staff could appear to be more interested in guests.May not be so quite at weekends and walls thin so can hear everything!!
