I liked the friendly welcome of the staff, the secluded but conveniently central location, the historical elegance of the place itself. |

The price was ok and the location was within walking distance of main attractions. I am not a fan of guesthouses and this trip proved again why. The room looked like somebodys bedroom, small, and no lift. The breakfast was ok but you get the feeling that you are intruding. Maybe it is just me... |

The Guesthouse is very close to the town centre. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The atmosphere was friendly and homely In our room the carpet needed replacing and the central heating didn't work consequently it was extremeley cold. The Night porter had to bring us an electric fire. When comparing with a hotel we stayed in afterwards, which cost the same, I would say it is overpriced by around 25 to 30%. |

It was a very clean guesthouse, with a relaxing, friendly ambience, and the food was well presented and adequately prepared I felt that the kitchen staff were a bit too casual about their job, and unnecessary persons were in the kitchen during the breakfast time. They did not appear to be part of the regular kitchen staff, were sitting of tables, and generally distracting the staff from dealing with the customers. Kitchen staff were also dressed casually, without proper kitchen garments, and one person seemed to be doing all the cooking and serving, and washing up. |

We were very disappointed with this B&B. The bathroom in the room was dirty; the shower had mildew and the toilet had junk in it (the public restroom was cleaner). The furniture in the room had peeling laminate, the pillows were lumpy and the bed lacked any sort of support. Compared to the rest of the hotels/B&Bs that we stayed at in Ireland in the same price range, this was by far the worst one. |

Near city centre and cooked breakfast was good in the morning Lack of on site parking, reception staff were not very welcoming and their use of English was very limited. Beds were not comforable and access to shower was a very tight squeeze. Window was not easy to access either. |

The fact that it was close to the bus station. Breakfast started late. I also had problems with the shower - that in spite of the fact that I specifically asked the man at the desk and he assured me there would be no problems - a fuse burnt and the shower stopped functioning just as I was using it! |

Portree Guesthouse is very convenient to Waterford City. Yes, the place is old and badly needs a revamp. The showers are apalling - very small, no tea / coffee facilities in the rooms. |

Myself and my girlfriend were looking for a place that was reasonably priced and in a central location. Portree ticked both boxes. On arrival we were greated by a very friendly man, Darius I think his name was. Very pleasant and friendly. Our Room was on the first floor which at first I thought would lead to a problem with noise but I was wrong. The place was very quiet. |

It was very old world gracious and quaint with cosy rooms. The young man in charge was extremely helpful and friendly. I felt very welcome. there was no access to the garden. i like to sit outside to read and smoke and i had to do this on the front stairs, not a good look. |
