Score from 815 reviews Wonderful
I liked service and help from hotel staff.
I didnt like noise, alarm going off, elevator broken down, lack of parking space, cold water luke warm water instead of hot
location great spacious rooms & very clean
unfriendly staff not very helpful at all ,we go to cork each year as a treat and the staff really put us off as a result I wont be returning
The staff where very kind as I have sight loss and help as much as I need
As I have sight loss I would like to have my room as near to ground floor but I was on the top floors de life hard
The friendly, respectful staff, the bar, the food, the breakfast, the room, the shower, the quiet, the warmth, the cleanliness, the unfussiness, the value for money, the district (Shandon, in the city centre).
Can't think of anything.
Newly decorated room, much more modern now, and check in and foyer are nice also.
Didn't like the sound of workmen drilling over our room at 8.45am Monday morning, and also hammering late on Saturday night, and the fact the back car park was closed, also looked like 100 or so duvets were stored or dumped outside which might have been some help to the homeless.
Location was great
Parking was a nightmare, too small of a carpark for the amount of rooms available and really awkward to get in and out of the hotel. Had to pay for parking elsewhere all weekend which was not expected for the price we had paid for the hotel.
Cheap because I had booked it well in advance
The lift was atrocious. Had to wait what felt like 10 minutes each time. Ended up using the stairs majority of the time. Plus it could only fit max 3 people in with no bags at a time. Rooms were a bit cold. Changing rooms at the pool felt dirty. Could do with a complete revamp. Locks on a few lockers we tried didn't work. Curtains didn't keep the light out in the morning. Could do with blinds or heavier/black out curtains.
We were made to feel very welcome and the hotel was stunning
Parkin was difficult
Bedroom/ensuite very cold
Car parking, room a bit grubby around edges, stains on sofa for example
Very limited parking! Staff park in disabled parking spaces and when I brought this to the managers attention he said he would pass my comments on. Even though the chef had no disabl car sticker or pass thus inhibiting some customer with a disability from parking there.
The food was nice.
There was a fire alarm twice during the night. The breakfast staff were not friendly.
The swimming pool and steam room were most enjoyable. The location is very good 5 min to centre
The pillows were flat and hard. The bathroom tile grout dirty, dust on lockers
We didn't get our room until 3.30pm . Not impressed .
We have stayed many times at this hotel and have always enjoyed its location to the city of cork .This year the staff were proven to be wonderful has we had an unfortunate accident and the kindness ,professionalism and care shown relieved some of our worries .Food excellent ,beds gorgeous .a great hid all round
The staff were nice
The central heating kept breaking, too hot then too cold. The church rings it's bells every 15 mins 24/7 it gets irritating very quickly
View of the graveyard
I didnt like the fact that we had to park in a mukti story carpark of site..although we were given a hotel reduced rate on checkin we were told our room was on tge 2nd floor however!!! We were NOT informed that there were 2 lifts tgat went to different floors? ?? Both had a 2nd floor? ?? But 2 different 2nd floors??? At breakfast we were greeted by a friendly girl.. but asked as soon as we walked it wd we like a full irish (we had not even sat down!!) We went to the buffet to get cereal wen we returned to our table the waitress was standing with our breakfast in her hand! I told her we would like to eat our cereal first!!! She seemed a bit put out. .. however wen we asked for our full irish it was good... it is a good location for shopping if u are able to walk up a steep hill....
It was cheap and no luxury. Clean. Food was only one portion sizes for dinner were very small had to ask for bread with dinner was still so hungry after main course.
Portion size of food for dinner was tiny a lot of the party had to ask for bread they were still so hungry after main course
The maldron is barely a 3 star hotel. Although I got a cheap deal, it was not worth the money. The hotel lift is like something from the stone age, the room was depressing and old, the hotel interior badly needs painting and updating. I would never stay in the maldron again, even if it was for free.
perfect location Perfect hotel Leisure centre
single beds as double beds Fire alarm scared the bajasus out of us on the Sunday night
-When I called looking for an extra cup and towels, they arrived shortly after.
-Lack of parking. The car park is very limited i.e about 20 spots at most. You had to park on the street and pay €2 per 2hrs. -Two ladies at hotel reception were having a conversation and didn't greet us until they finished whilst we stood looking at them. Bad first impression & customer service.
I booked this hotel on a groupon deal on line due to it been close to The Opera house for a concert. My husband and I were having a break away for the first time in two years so was really looking forward to this break . On arrivel could see the shappy rundown dirty lobby . then went to room no better. I rang recption to say the bed was not dressed properly. she said it was I asked had i been down graded because of booking with Groupon She said no this was standard room the value 109.00 euro with no breakfeast this was nothing like the pictures on the advert. you could see the base of the bed and there was two beds pushed together no bedspread and only two pillows smell of mould carpet stained curtains hanging of the rails .all so diappointing . Then when we came back from the concert looking forward to a good night sleep only to be woking up at 3.00am by fire alarm it took us a while to get back off to sleep only to be woken up again at 5.00am by fire alarm .wow so annoyed at this stage when I rang recption they said they were sorry but could do nothing about it as the glass in the fire alarm had been broken the week before and was waiting for it to be fixed. When I complained that we had a very bad night with no sleep and why were we not notifed that there was a problem with the fire alarm her answer was that it was only on for one min and not many people had complained so there was no point letting people know there was no actual fire. This is such a big health and safety issue espcially as the fire alarm went off twice on the same night . I understood then why they made be pay on arrivel I have always paid for my room the next morning .
