Maldron Hotel Cork (formerly Quality Hotel)

The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was great. We were going to the Marquee to a concert, and the hotel provided a bus to and from the Marquee which was very convienent, as we did not know Cork too well. The times for the breakfast was also very accomodating, and there was a huge spread put on. The quality of the food was very good too.

Parking was very limited and inconvienent. The power of the shower in our en suite was very disappointing and the window in our room would not close. We were told that we could check in after 2pm, but when we arrived at 2.30pm, our room was not ready.

Great central location, walking distance to city centre. Friendly helpfull staff. large rooms.

Slightly noisy at night in the rooms at the front of the hotel due to proximity to road.

Staff should be vigilant about ensuring access up to and around the main door of the hotel is kept free and that the no parking rule in this area actually enforced. It was actually difficult for us to exit the hotel with our luggage as two vehicles had parked right up to and directly in front of the front door.

Reception area is lovely. Very deceptive. I checked out of the hotel after discovering the the mattress was sagging and had springs poking from it. The central heating did not work, I was cold. All three of the lamps in the room did not work. The room was small and dingy and in a very poor part of the city. It is a converted hospital building.

as we go on weekend breaks once a month, it was a pleasure to spend 3 nights in this hotel without being woken up during the night by unwanted noise.

The gym equipment could do with a bit of an update

reception staff were nice.

(1) A double room was requested for the duration of our stay, we were granted with two single beds pushed together, extremely uncomfortable, needless to say not impressed. (2) TV was too far away from the beds, therefore was not worth watching. (3) requested non-smoking room, from moment of arrival could smell cigarette smoke in the room, again disappointed.

Location, just behind Shandon-bell, long opening hours of leisure center.

Where we asked to store a luggage for a rest of the day after check-out, a girl from reception have advised us to leave the at hall until somebody move them into luggage room, what never happened.... Our luggage have left unattended for all day... really insecure.

Location is superb, if you don't mind a bit of a hill. There are better hotels in Cork, but for a night out without pricey taxis etc you will be hard beat to find better than this place.

Parking is an absolute nightmare! Only when you struggle to find a space, drag your stuff in, and stand at reception do you realise there are other pay parking alternatives nearby (as detailed in the tatty A4 notice stuck on the reception desk).
