Carlton Hotel Galway

Excellent staff at reception desk. Hotel was clean and bright, food was good and we enjoyed our stay. Booked family room, adequate for stay. Proximity to Galway was excellent. We paid 228 euro for 2 nights room only which we thought was much too expensive. Suggest a review.

TV was obsolete, picture quality was bad, didn't have Sky and so had very limited choice of channels. Would suggest upgrading to flat screen tv's and channel choice.

Noise from hotel generator was loud and intrusive. Queuing for breakfast was a farce. An overcharge of £91 on my credit card took over a week and several phone calls to sort out.

The family room was very comfortable, the pool and facilities were very good and the food was excellent, served by a very pleasant helful girl

The bar is too open plan, The internal doors in the room, could not be left open, whilst they are fire doors, magnets could be put on as this is not suitable for families with young children.

Availability to easy access ino the city. The leisure and dining facilities were very good.

Booking in time was over an hour late due to understaffing for the cleaning of the vacated rooms in order for the incoming residents to be accommodated.

I was on my own with my 6 year old daughter, felt very comfortable and safe, and staff were lovely and helpful. Location was great for Eyre Sq shopping and Salthill. Short well signed journey to both.

Smoking bedrooms!!!!!! Non intrusive personel but very good services, diverse offers.

It was central to Galway. It had good facilities. Room fairly modern. Very goodfor families. Entertainment at night.

The one bedroom Family Suite (that we stayed on our 2nd night) in the newer part of the hotel was very nice and good value for money. Liked the pool and gym facilities. Nice atmosphere in a fully booked hotel. Good Breakfast and nice Bar/restaurant food.

The Family Room that we stayed on our first night was not what we expected ( we thought it was a family suite we were booking - not very clear at time of booking on website the difference between the family room and suite) - the Family room was in the older part of the hotel which was shabby (Carpets/ windows/ walls etc) - the windows which open fully (large) with no safety features do not suit a family room.

The food was not bad and the staff pleasant but everything else is truly awful.

Getting to my room in the prison sounding d wing was an obstacle course, passing through dreary dirty corridors and a confusing array of stairs and doors, not to mention the seven different types of dirty carpets. The hotel rooms are so noisy that I had to purchase ear plugs and the very worst thing was the bedside cabinet in my "clean" room contained used sex accessories left behind by the previous occupants! The complementary wine and peanuts left in the room as an apology was little comfort. The fact that the normal price of the room was more than doubled for race week added insult to injury. I would rather sleep on the street than stay here again.

Staff were friendly and help[ful. The room was comfortable and not too hot. The corridor leading to our room was quiet during the night which was helpful in aiding a good restful sleep. Breakfast on the following morning was tasty and wholesome.

Comfortable quiet room, great breakfast, excellent facillities, good parking and handy for Galway city.

Offhand staff upon arrival.Served bread with butter whichhad already been used. Food mainly good except dried out seafood pie. Thought that main faults were with staff/staff training with the exception of breakfast staff w'Transformer owl' on Utube. Hilarious !ho were excellent. Otherwise great product but staff so important to customer.
