Had a kingsize room with a huge bed and spacious shower for a low price. When asked, the woman at reception told us that this hotel has low rates on Sundays and that was why we had such a good deal. Close to the main road, so we were quickly on our way the next day. The food and staff in the restaurant were a bit of a dissapointment. Our waitress was a bit rough and unfrienly, she just threw our plates on our tables and looked like she couldn't care less about us. My boyfriend ordered steak; it had too much fat on it and the vegetables that came with it, were very dry. We said so to the waitress, who responded 'Sorry about that' and that was it. The manager later asked us if we had enjoyed our meal and gave us a free drink as compensation, but still. I think the hotel is too far from the city centre to walk there and have a drink in a pub.

It is a very relaxed hotel and staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Food was generally good especially the breakfast. Signage on main Dublin Road could indicate a little sooner that it is necessary to actually turn off the N26 to access the hotel. Staffing levels in the bar/restaurant especially during dinner could be improved.

Reception, rooms, staff, pool and bar area - all very welcoming We had a family room - the double bed and single bed were very comfortable however the extra bed was the opposite - a camp bed with little/no mattress - would have expected more from this 4* hotel.

All in all it was great, friendly staff and clean and tidy hotel, lovely. No wifi in rooms. But being honest they do have wired internet in rooms and wifi in public areas so wasnt totally at a loss, and was informed that wifi will be in rooms shortly.

The hotel was really clean, modern, and in a good location. There is a pool and gym which is always great. The staff were lovely really working hard and very friendly and polite. I had a few issues but generally they wouldn't put me off staying there again. The pool was not open due to repairs but this was not explained before I stayed. ( I was then advised by a friend who lives in there and uses the pool that there was ongoing issues, I don't know how true this is though so it might be worth checking with the hotel beforehand that the pool is working if that's important for your stay. Our shower was warm for the first 2-3 minutes but then went really cold and didn't recover. It was a thermostactic mixing valve and we had it up at 50 degrees an I could just stand under to rinse my hair. I complained and the receptionist said they would check it out then move us if there was a problem. They checked and said it was ok, but we had the exact problem again the next morning.

I booked a room for to adults and 2 children. We got a double bed and a single bed and had to ask for an extra bed, which turned out to be a fold up bed that I had to make up myself and not a sofa bed as advertised. It was so uncomfortable that the kids wouldn't sleep in it and had to share, resulting in less sleep for everyone.

We booked The Hotel Ballina to attend a wedding at a near by hotel. We payed £70 per night, which for Ireland is very cheap, so I didn't expect much. When we arrived, I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel was fantastic, good large rooms, comfort, spotlessly clean, great bar and great breakfast. Great value.

Staff very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about surrounding area. Room was comfortable and clean. Restaurant offered a good variety of food and quality was very good. We liked having wifi in room and access to pool and gym. Returned back from night out one evening to find we had been locked out. Staff should have informed us that premises locked at night. We were left waiting and banging on the door to gain staff attention. Think the hotel should not be promoted as a luxury health spa as this is a gross misrepresentation of the standard of facilities offered. Such claims only raise expectations, which when not met, are disappointing. Better to suggest that the hotel offers pool and gym facilities which include a spa and sauna and treatment options on request.

excellent staff, homely atmosphere, good location, great breakfast. No snacks available on arrival although staff had informed me on phone before arrival that dining room was closed that pm,same due to large function that night.I think its important that some food, be available as my husband is insulin dependent and we had to leave your hotel earlier than intended to have a snack.

The staff are always the best to deal with. Valarie is always there to make sure your stay is the best. The food was so good this time staying. Its gay friendly which is a huge plus as me and my Bf go to many hotels and sometimes feel pushed out but always welcome at Hotel Ballina. Huge thanks again for a wonderful stay
