The relaxed atmosphere hits you as soon as you open the heavy wooden front door. the solid wooden features and open fire places make it a cosy, warm and relaxed place to sit and read a book or chat with friends. theres a lovely lounge and a great conservatory in which to do the same, aswell as the bar with entertainment in the evenings. the restaurant has won many awards and the value for money was fantastic. the food in itself is a reason to visit we were impressed by the breakfast menu as much as the dinner menu. children are welcome and you get the feeling that its a great place for a family stay ( we are thinking of bringing ours next time.) they are well catered for with a great play area and outside swimming pool as well as babysitting facilities. we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definatly be returning. but its also a great place for couples to snuggle up too - we had a lovely romantic weekend and its now up in our two favourite places to come when we need a weekend away from it all..we will be returning thats for sure, whether with or without the children... theres nothing negative about renvyle its so well done.if anything we thought our room (although it had all mod cons including skytv etc) was a little dated, although its nothing of any importance really, the room and huge bathroom were still great.but the kettle cord was so short we couldnt plug it in and stand it up straight at the same time. but its a quaint and quirky hotel and if it was all plush features it might not have the same feel? im sure the staff wouldve changed it if we wanted them to they are very helpful. but it wasnt a big deal really so we didnt bother.

Very relaxing & no noise at night. Excellent & friendly staff. We asked for a non smoking room, but our room(64) smelt of old smoke. Perhaps the carpet was there when smoking was allowed & now needs to be changed. Otherwise no problem.

Excellent Food. Scenic location While I'm in my early 50s I found the clientele old - mostly 70s (bus tour) so a bit of an elderly feel to the place. Outside of summer season not much life after dinner .

The views were stunning, the hotel was comfy and it was a really relaxed atmosphere. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff could have paid more attention to the customers on occassion however it was very busy so it was somewhat understandable.

The facilities such as the heated outdoor pool and the beach frontage. Plenty to do on a wet day. Great for adults and children alike. A good spot to explore Connemara. Staff were very pleasant. Very cosy, warm with the feel of a 'lodge' to it. Breakfast starting at 8.30am was way too late for some guests including ourselves. Also difficult for families with young children who are usually up quite early. I would also question value for money.

Location is excellent. I liked the nature, water, ducks and location to other scenic areas. I loved the food and breakfast up to 11am. I really liked the spaces, fires, library it was a chill out place. It was expensive and I would have expected more luxury. It was too old fashioned, it badly needs a makeover, Paint peeling is not right for this money.

The setting is exquisite! The hotel is an old country house that shows and feels real ambience with many original paintings, collectibles and antique furniture, reflects Renvyle House's past owners and illustrious guests. On the night I was there, a dramatic recital depicting J.M.Synge's 'The Aran Islands' was performed in the library. That was an unexpected bonus! I was impressed with the herb garden, the hotel grounds and the surrounding countryside. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, promising a very pleasant stay. However, breakfast is only served at 08:30. This is not clearly indicated in the description on the website. Since I had a business appointment in Clifden at 9:00, I had arranged for a continental breakfast at 8:00. This was only served about 08:15, amid vacuum cleaners and the smell of cleaning soap, and passing guests in the reception area. An unfinished and unpleasant breakfast in a terrible rush! Still, I would consider revisiting this hotel again to see what the breakfast should have been like.

The personalised service and the welcome we were given with our dog was great. The facilites were all very understated and comfortable and not very hotely which was pleasant. Not a glitzy glamorous hotel but somewhere that is lacking in any pretensions and provides excellent local food and a warm and welcoming atmosphere with well thought out facilities. The views are superb and as the hotel is quite isolated on its own peninsula jutting into the Atlantic they have outdoor activites that guests are welcome to play such as croquet and bowls. An outdoor heated pool and small pitch golf course. Resident geece with goslings were also there. Good for couples, groups and families. Sad to leave

The hotel was quaint - old-fashioned but clean. The staff were friendly and willing to help. Beautiful rustic location. When booking I telephoned to ensure the hotel could cater for the coeliac condition and was assured they could. There is gluten-free food available for coeliacs, however there is not a good understanding of keeping gf food seperate from 'regular' food...my gf toast was served on the same plate as my husband's toast! When I enquired I was told it had been toasted in the same toaster, a definite no-no!!

The hotel has not suffered from the modern need to be a "boutique hotel with superior style" where you might feel the need to look for your coaster before you put your beer glass back on the table. What it has is a homely atmosphere... created by its layout in many respects. All bodies have to pass through the lounge with it's 2 turf fires surrounded by lazy couches where an hello and a chat to a fellow guest is an easy thing to do. From there you can take one direction to the large dining room for some good food or another to the bar where the hotel try to create some atmosphere at night and the rest is up to the quests. Or another again to move out of the hotel to the beaches a mere stroll away or the lake for some fishing although that's so close you'd think the fish would co-operate and just leap to the hotel kitchen. My single room was more like a spacious double, but maybe I got lucky i don't know? The lack of TV channels in the rooms or TV's in the common arears is probably what the hotel is about....no more bad news, look around you, talk to people, get out and about. And out and about is great although good weather is a help when the hotel sits in such a rugged but beautiful area. Maybe I was lucky with the weather, fell in and out of good company, or maybe too many beers have clouded my judgmement....but so what! It could only be small things and should be of more concern to the hotel than a guest e.g. it takes a long time for the hot water to become hetaed. Taps are running for some time unnecessarily, therefore, it wouldb be greener and save on water rates to sort this out.
