Excellent location, near seaside, park and museums. Public rooms have a fine view of the sea and harbour. Our main dinner was very good Service attentive.

View now obscured by Library being built in front of it ! Food in Hardy's bar was re-heated and dried up. Check-in rather slow.

Wasn't value for money stayed in a suite, 607 the bathroom smelt of dampness and it was abit bordering on shabby, the first night we stayed there the heating failed to work so the room was very cold, this room could do with a overhaul would not recommend it ...

The bed was possibly the most comfortable of any hotel that I have ever stayed in. My room was charming with its chandeliers and heavy curtains. The view of the sea makes the hotel very special. The price is reasonable.

The hotel can feel a little corporate and mass market. Some of the decoration, particularly in my bathroom was a bit shabby. The quality of the food was surprisingly poor.

we just stayed one night it was a birthday gift. hotel was really lovely. the bar food was excellant as was the breakfast. staff was lovely too.

Rooms are good, the restaurant is also good.

I was impressed with the friendliness, helpfulness and efficiency of the staff. I rather liked the old fashioned and 'shabby chic' feel of the hotel. I enjoyed the hotel breakfast and service. It was a very comfortable and enjoyable place to stay for a woman travelling on her own. The swimming pool area was spotlessly clean and I enjoyed my morning swim. The large bed in my room was extremely comfortable and I slept very well.

The room was clean and comfortable but just a little 'brown'! I'm not sure why but it felt a little dingy on first entering it. It would have been nice to have had a more attractive view (I was in room 437) but I expect you have to pay more for that and as I was over for a funeral and meeting up with family I didn't spend too much time in the room. The only real complaint I have is that on my second night there seemed to be a function going on with very loud music and the bass seemed to go right through the room. I would have found it impossible to sleep but I had gotten back late (around 11.30pm) and fortunately the music finished about an hour later just as I was on the point of calling reception to ask when it would be over! I think you should warn your guests and perhaps put them in a room out of earshot. I should have asked about this myself as I do recall reading something on trip advisor about the noise factor. And it was a shame that I visited while building work is still going on in front of the hotel. But I expect it will be nice when it is finished!
