Sandhouse Hotel  

Terrific location, friendly and welcoming staff

We loved the ambience of the Sandhouse Hotel from the greeting we received from friendly professional staff on arrival and the lovely open fire in the reception lounge. Our room was excellent, spacious with fantastic views of the ocean and a lovely comfy sofa strategically placed in front of the panoramic window. The food was really good with many healthy options and great variety on menus. The location was a perfect base for sight-seeing. Overall a great break and would certainly recommend.

The only negative aspect of our stay was unrelated to the hotel. However, on occasions, there were cars driving up and down the beach which was a pity given the beauty of the area. However, it was well policed and we noted the presence of the odd Garda car which probably helped keep things under control,

A perfect location to relax totally. Old charm and a modern approach to caring for guests made this a perfect 3 night break in November. We'll certainly be going back soon to this ideally situated hotel and will recommend it to our friends.

The staff were very welcoming, the locationis breath taking and the food is of a very high standard.

There was no lunch available and there was limited food of soup and sandwiches available during the day.

Hotel staff were excellant. I booked a double room but for some reason my internet booking came back as being a twin room. I phoned the hotel direct and they corrected the error, they also upgraded me to a room with sea view at no extra charge. Some rooms in the hotel look out onto the beach. The other rooms look out towards the hillside which have a lot of mobile homes. The standard of food was second to none. As our stay was end of season the hotel was very quite which suited us. However I think the hotel would be very busy during the summer months

Friendly and helpful staff, great meals, great ocean view

Two steps walking and you are on the beach. Restaurant and rooms with a very nice view of the sea. Staff very friendly. Breakfast and dinner excellent.

We had a very pleasant stay, staff were friendly and efficient, food was excellent and lots of craic and impromptu music in the bar. Long walks on the beach, beautiful views and a relaxing massage at the spa, perfect anniversary break.

The room was excellent,as was the food and service.

posizione fantastica, pochi hotel sono cosi bene posizionati, direttamente sull'oceano. Importante è farsi dare una camera che si affaccia sul mare per apprezzare pienamente questo fantastico hotel.Esperienza indimenticabile!!!

Everything was excellent, only issues is the decor of the hotel as it is slightly dated but this may suit others.

Exactly what we look for in a hotel - I've rated it 4 out of 5 across all areas but the combined package is 5 out of 5 (if that makes any sense - imperfectly perfect). We don't at all mind a slighty tired look as long as it is reflected in the price and we felt it was - the same could be said of every other aspect, any slightly rough edges were definitely charm and character. I would chose this balance over a more polished hotel at every opportunity. A real family feel with the location, breakfast, service and honest style which is rare. If this hotel was threatened with a characterless makeover, I'd vote to keep it just as it is.
