An outstanding stay at a well run venue. The staff are always going to determine your mindset to a place and I am pleased to say that the staff at this establishment were outsatnding except for one gentlemen who was working in the brakfast room. You only need one staff like this gentleman to offset all the positive attributes of the collective staff. You need plenty more like Mark! Allow this person to get a job where he obviously does not have to deal with poeple and he will probably survive. Otherwise he will eventually make his position as a waiter unattenable at Fota Island.

The hotel was fabulous the spa and pool were fabulous. The staff were very accomodating we had not booked dinner in the hotel and it was 9.30 by the time we arrived at the restaurant and it was full so the concierge booked a near by restaurant for us and drove us to it himself.

Its location and grounds surrounding the hotel. The breakfast was quite good but alot of young children around. The room was not as luxurious as we would have expected. The en-suite however was. The bed, as big as it was, was not the most comfortable. We found it to be very hard. Our main disappointment was the spa. There was nothing that was included for the price other than a small swimming pool where the water was very cold and the windows looking outside were filthy which was very off putting. Also it was very family orientated with alot of young children in all areas of the hotel all the time which became very over-bearding considering it was a spa hotel. Although Fota Island hotel was a nice hotel, it definitely was not of 5 star quality and we would be quite reluctant to return.

The bathroom in the hotel room was spectacular. Room was booked and checked in as a king size bed. It was 2 singles pushed together. Totally not 5 star, pity because the hotel is lovely. The bed was a total let down

The bathroom in the hotel was the nicest, however the bedroom was clean etc but a rather bad botch job on parts of the walls with touch up of paint etc! The jacuzzi etc was separate to the swimming area and the portion of chips that we ordered as extra, 9 chips were on the plate!

As we where babysitting for our daughter who had stayed in the lodges,we wanted peace and quietness when she returned from dinner, etc at the hotel,we taught it was excellent and the bar and facilities where marvellous, Possibly only drawback was that there where no tea and coffee facilities in room on arrival. But when requested delivered straight away.

Food & Beverage Staff were excellent! My partner asked for very rare steak and received it well done but the manager took care of it very quickly and replaced it with a wonderful dish thank you! Room was nice perhaps a little small but we did get it at a reasonable price view was nice and it was quite. Liked the idea that we could access the spa directly from the rooms The Front office staff were polite but cold/distant! I don't like staff sitting down while you talk to them makes the guest feel very uncomfortable. As we have stayed in a few 5 star hotels ie Dromoland Castle, Ashford & Four Seasons was disappointed that Foto Island didnt have the same feel or luxury to it no little extras in the rooms or main bathrooms etc to me it is a good 4 Star only. Golf course fantastic swimming pool small and surprised that hats were not needed!! Overall, they have a great Food & Beverage team so thanks to them but Front Office Staff need to be looked at as they are the first point of contact

Loved the location. Reception staff could be better informed as I asked whether the pool had a sauna and steam room, said that she did not know and I could phone the spa and ask, room could do with a revamp, I would not rate this hotel as a five star.
