Our room was excellent, very spacious with a very good view and a wonderful bathroom The TV did not work and we didn't have the energy to change our room after unpacking. Overall the hotel can appear to be gloomy e.g. the drab corridors and the dark stone-walled swimming pool. Our dinner was quite expensive but was nothing exceptional

The hotel itself very well designed with all the rooms thoughtfully decorated and very large relaxing beds and a good size bathroom with all the amenities supplied in the room. The bar in the evening is like a creche, after a day out walking you would like to be able to relax with a drink and a bite to eat but its overrun with kids not supervised!!(maybe a kids free area just to eat and drink and chat in peace) everyone is entitled to use the bar but it must be supervised!!! The hotel does not provide a shuttle to cobh so expect to pay e30 to e40 taxi return fare to your eating out bill in cobh its a rip off.

Beautiful hotel, extremely friendly and helpful staff. Great location beside fota wildlife park and only 15km from Cobh. Would definitely recommend especially at the rate we got from booking.com and we couldn't fault the room.

Loved the location. Reception staff could be better informed as I asked whether the pool had a sauna and steam room, said that she did not know and I could phone the spa and ask, room could do with a revamp, I would not rate this hotel as a five star.

An outstanding stay at a well run venue. The staff are always going to determine your mindset to a place and I am pleased to say that the staff at this establishment were outsatnding except for one gentlemen who was working in the brakfast room. You only need one staff like this gentleman to offset all the positive attributes of the collective staff. You need plenty more like Mark! Allow this person to get a job where he obviously does not have to deal with poeple and he will probably survive. Otherwise he will eventually make his position as a waiter unattenable at Fota Island.
