Score from 14 reviews Excellent
Comfortable and homely accommodation with everything you need therein. The only slight drawback is the local amenities, but if you have a hired car, it's no problem and can travel to Navan for supplies, only 12km away.
Nothing bad about the stay. Wish we were still there!
Great location. Lovely family keen to help.
Lots of space Nice staff Good kitchen Comfy beds
Mix up with keys meant could not get into the cottage for a while after coming back from the wedding. Some kind of night-bell would be helpful.
Close to town, well appointed rooms, great hosts
The setting was really nice. Great value for money and a really nice place to stay.
There was no electricity when we arrived and no hot water for a shower. Also the bed was broken and I literally had to "make" the bed before I went out.
Very central to slane - very very quiet for a good nights sleep. Would recommend - first class
Easy to book. Near to Slane town, easy to locate. Very pleasant and helpful staff, possibly all family members. Clean, well equipped, roomy cottage with double room nearby which we needed. Play area for children with swings. Free parking facilities, free laundry facilities when cottage booked. We would consider returning next year if possible as we all enjoyed our stay.
the best place in 14 nights we spent in IRELAND
Such a lovely we cottage we stayed in so private with lovely high ceilings , was great to have the space as suppose to hotel room.
Well I didn't want to bad review but I stayed with my two young boys and husband and had to sleek in the car. In arrival my husband poped out 1 yr old up on kitchen counter as he was preparing him food and a mouse ran behind him. There was a second mouse scratching behind the kitchen all night. On arrival we mentioned defiantly staying here for family wedding in slane. But I'm massively afraid of mice etc so would be for that reason
everything was great 10 out of 10
The room we ended up in was well equipped and comfortable.
When we arrived there was no one to meet us. We were left a key to a room that slept ten. An hour and a half later Joann arrived and was a bit huffy about our displeasure. She did then move us. While our accommodations ended up fine being left with a key to a hostel room having booked a double and waiting around for 90 minutes to get this changed isn't my idea of gracious hospitality.
Location, friendly staff, room
Location and price !
It is pretty basic, but at that price can't complain !
We booked at short notice as we had a funeral to attend.Location and availabilty of rooms were ideal.Gemma was very kind upgrading us to 2 cottages at no extra cost when she learnt of our circumstances.Would revisit.
The shower button had to be held in at all times to keep the water on which made showering nearly impossible.
Good rural location, nice staff
The smell outside (but then it is a farm!). I was in a dorm with a group of lads who were drinking and smoking when I wanted to sleep.
The picturesque area and the well-organized spaces were a definite plus. China crockery with painted plums to take your morning tea, in a quaint kitchen with a view of the country, were also a bonus. Those who prefer keeping to themselves would also appreciate that there's enough social space and enough rooms that they could easily nab a moment alone. As a runner, I appreciated the outlying area and its accessibility for working out. Getting to see the cows get milked was fun, and the entire family is pleasant on the whole (one of them even drove my sister and I to Newgrange). Slane Farm is ideally situated to jog or bike to many places, if you're in for an hour of effort before getting there.
I don't think this hostel believes in central heating. Our first day was frigid and exploration revealed that all but one of the radiators were turned up; even cranked to their highest setting, however, they didn't do enough to take the nip out of the air. This is fine for a few days, but I'd rather not want a jacket indoors! The showers were likewise warm, but not toasty; this is alright for a handful, like the downstairs showers, but the one in our room was beneath a sun roof that was out of reach and open. It invited in a draft which I suspect was intentionally placed to suck the humidity out of the old-fashioned bathroom and prevent water damage. The temperature of the place was the overall pickle with an otherwise enjoyable stay. Double comforters are a must.
Loved the location!! Great spot to stay if you are visiting attractions nearby. The cottage was very spacious and had kitchen facilities. LOVED the decor, so cute. Lots of helpful information and pamphlets on the area in reception.
It was very much a self service type place so would not be choice if you like all the extras a hotel could provide (breakfast, tea/coffee, 24 hr manning, etc.). Internet was not available out in our cottage so we had to go sit in the reception area to pick it up. Only real negatives was that our bedroom had a weird and off putting smell and the shower was atypical in that you had to keep constantly pressing a button for hot water (no dial controls to regulate).
Lovely family run establishment.
