Too warm in room
Everything was perfect for our stay,on arrival Donna the girl we dealt with was very nice and friendly to us and also very helpful and was the very same on our departure , thanks Donna!!
A group of 6 of us were meeting for a college reunion and didn't want a fancy hotel or B&B, the hostel was perfect as they had 6 bed dorms. We literally only used it to get ready before going out and then to sleep. Breakfast was included but we slept through it. Overall I would recommend this place! It's in a great location too.
Parking was tricky as they don't have any parking facilities and the public car parks were full on account of the xmas shopping season.
love this place never have problem and all nice stuff too
none i like it
Location in a quiet street but close to city center (just 2-3 mns walk) and commercial zone (cinema, lidl, TESCO, McDo...). Staff is nice and helpful. Kitchen is full equiped, but I didnt used it. Facilities are excellent and Wifi in every floor !
Breaksfast... NO HOT CHOCOLATE :'( Just tea, coffee, toast, butter and jam (surely the less expensive). I thought they would had put some juices and cereals. In my room there was a tiny mirror on the bathroom, it would had been nice to have a "big" one in the room (aaah girls!!). And 2-3 more washing-machine and dry-machine, there were just 1 of each, I had to wait 2h for my turn.
Staff were very friendly and helpful, good location, very clean and modern, great value for money
The hostel has a no alcohol rule which was not stated during the booking process. What is this - prohibition? The breakfast is just toast and budget jam - not worth getting up for. There is a full time security guard patrolling the hostel. I like the fact they take security seriously but having someone watching over you while having your dinner, along with the alcohol ban, can make this feel more like a stay in an institution than a holiday.
I've stayed in hostels all over Ireland, as well as Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary and this is by far the best place! I originally booked 3 nights, but ended up staying for a whole week! Rooms are lovely and spacious (I tried 2 different rooms during my stay and they were both great). Free breakfast, free towels, free WiFi (with a different connection in each floor to ensure good connection), free computers and printing, great advice about tours and attractions, great atmosphere. At least 5 social rooms downstairs for you to meet people and hang out. Close to the supermarkets, shopping mall, bars, pubs, beach and bus station, but down a side street so you are not kept awake by street noise. Staff are incredible - especially Dan. Galway is a really fun city, so to make your stay even better - STA HERE! They also have power sockets for different countries in the dining area, in case you forgot your adaptor, or only have one adapter and want to charge your phone and your laptop/camera etc. Great sociable vibe, where you will meet people from all over the world. Even if you find something cheaper, it is well worth paying the extra to stay here! This place was recommended to me by several different people (including some Irish people I met back home) and now I know why!
This place is brilliant! A few hiccups, like the dryer cut out before my clothes were dry, but Donna say really lovely and sorted it for me :]
clean and comfortable, staff is friendly and we enjoy our time!
The location is very good - heart of Galway and very close to everything. Staff was very nice and helpful.
The wifi didn't work most of the times. The window in our room didn't close properly so you could hear the noises from the outside (including screaming and cleaning vehicles in the mornings) which were unbearable in the morning. Breakfast was included but the variety was very poor and didn't looked promising.
The staffs are friendly and helpful. The Wifi connection is good. En-suite is a plus
Need to walk a little bit from the bus and train station.
Great location and price. Staff were friendly and helpful.
No lockers in the room. Beds were a bit uncomfortable, but not terribly so.
Wifi not available in double room as separate building
Apart from people at reception, who was really nice, cannot say anything good about Sleepzone. I recognize it may be good if you are young and do not care much about noise and comfort, though we found it so so expensive for what it is...
Very expensive for just a youth hostel and not a place to stay if you are in Galway for tourism and expect to have a good rest for a few hours in the night (youth hostel!), even though our room was in an apartment next door. The beds were really uncomfortable, sleeping with a mattress in the floor would have been the same, and you could hear all noises and voices from the street (again, youth hostel). Breakfast (coffee, milk, toasts and cereals) was include, but you had to do it by yourself, in a kitchen full of teenagers, and then you had to wash your own dishes... Not what you expect for 60€ per night.
I liked everything. I felt a little strange booking into a hostel the night before a hospital appointment but budget prevails and I met three lovely Canadian girls who chatted away and were so respectful of everyone, creeping in late, making sure they didn't disturb anyone
Secondary school Kids on same floor, possibly on tour from European tour, making lots of noise, but that's normal although it did annoy the other guests much more than I because I'm used to teenagers in my own home.
Near very close city and easier walk
Nice staff and good location
Light bulb went twice
cheap (14euro), clean, organised, free towels, free computers for internet
free internet computers were extremely slow (but better than nothing!)
Location was great for visiting Galway. Lots of shopping nearby.
Slamming doors. Constant. Not sure why the doors at set to slam everytime someone enters their room. And since it is a large place, there were always doors slamming. Not to mention large groups returning to the hostel during the night and usually very noisy.
Everything was great, clean rooms, comfortable beds. Central, but far enough fron noisy areas.
Shower was a bit small. Two sockets for a 6 bed room. I spent 3 nights there, and there was a big group of German kids, and you just couldn't use the kitchen for about an hour. They used all the knives, cutting boards, pots, pans, etc... And when they were finished they hogged up both sinks. The hostel management should do something inorder to insure the comfort of all the guests and maybe restrict big groups to use the kitchen in non busy times.
Bed was comfortable and had its own reading light. Very clean and secure. Lots of common areas, both social and quiet.
Rooms and ensuite bathrooms were pretty small, even by Irish standards. Staff wasn't very knowledgeable on where to eat or go out...they suggested Dominos.
The private apartment with a shared bathroom had good facilities overall and was clean. The staff were helpful and gave us ideas of some things to do while in Galway.
Shower had low pressure. Also it would have been better if there was Wi-fi in the apartments.
The staff was very nice
The WiFi's quality was really poor in the rooms, and the beds are really too small for someone who is taller than 1m60...
the stuff were very nice and very helpful. recommended for young solo travelers.
got a basement room, smelled really bad, not very clean.
Cheap and cheerful. Pleasant and helpful staff.
Had to pay extra for safety deposit box. Far, far, far too many people staying here in comparison to some other hostels. The fact that it is located out on the street meant that there is constant noise, meaning no sleep should be expected. Dormitory beds are very small; difficult to lie down properly and the dormitory rooms themselves are poorly decorated - I would recommend a white colour scheme rather than an odd orange/red hybrid. It's not the worst place in the world for the price, but for the same price there are better hostels out there.
Helpful staff, free walking tour of city
Sometimes you have to go to a different floor to use a bathroom.
