Location is excellent! You are right in the middle of the action.Staff on reception were very welcoming and helpful. Room was a good size for myself and two friends. There are a lot of restaurants in the area. We really enjoyed our visit to Galway.
Hotel is in need of an update/decoration.
The Spanish Arch is just where you want to be in Galway. Surrounded by restaurants & bars. Our first floor room looked out over the street, with surprisingly little noise. The pub band was a nice distraction. Although breakfast wasn't an option the Costa coffee shop a couple of doors down did the job. Car parking was discounted and also very close. Conor was an excellent host and a wealth of information.
Large mould growth on wall over mirror and very grubby mattress protectors, very slow and dirty elevator.
Location was ideal for visitors
not having breakfast served was a major drawback
Nice clean room.
Disappointed that we could not get breakfast the next morning even though food was available the evening before when we arrived.
Location. Friendly staff.
Food. Very noisy. Hard bed. Cold bedroom. Wifi only on ground floor (which is mainly bar). Reception unmanned for most of my stay. No phone in room.
Hotel in general
The hotel could do with a face lift and a good clean
I have stayed here often and as always the reception and bar staff are kind and helpful. The room is nice and bed is so comfy. Location is perfect.
None I can think of.
Location is excellent, very near all bars and restaurants
The staff (Julie) were absolutely amazing. We were transferred to another hotel due to the noise from the nightclub opposite.
The hotel is opposite a new nightclub which caters for students. We were not informed about this and on our first night had no sleep due to the noise outside the hotel.
Everything is literally right there within walking distance. Pub adjacent to property.
Being so close to the action means you hear street noise and music late into the evening and then delivery/garbage trucks early in the morning. But nothing earplugs won't fix.
We thought the hotel had become very shabby since our last visit. Threadbare carpets on stairs as an example..... needs refurbishment. We thought it was expensive for what we got..... could get Jurys for a few quid more but more modern.
The staff were great very friendly and helpful. The food in the bar was delicious and reasonably priced. Good band on in the bar also.
Value for money for a group of girls on hen party- you get what you pay for and all we needed was a bed at the end of a busy day and night!
Noisy but I had my earplugs so I slept well!
Location was excellent - bar was good also food
size of room and the fact that it was dark and no view
Staff are excellent, really friendly and helpful. The location can't get any better. If you are looking for somewhere to just lay your head after a night on the town this is your spot!! It's basic...but ticks all the boxes! :)
The location is perfect. Lovely staff on front desk. Very clean bedroom. Old world atmosphere.
The Noise outside! Drunken women and guys shouting at 3 am. Beer barrels. Bin lorries. Pneumatic drills at 7am. Constant banging and clattering All the time day and night outside On the street!
The staff could not have been more helpful, especially Conor on reception. Close to most of Galway's attractions. It's in a lively location, so if you are an early-to-bed person, and are bothered by late-night revelry, ask for a room at the rear of the premises. Food is good and plentiful.
A bit 'worn' in places, but clean and serviceable. Drink prices in the bar were some of the most expensive we encountered in Galway.
Location and value for money. Lovely bar downstairs.
No reception area to relax when not in room.
The location, the setup...
very friendly staff and great location
Conner Hegarty at the front desk was fantastic. We adore him and all of the help he and the staff gave us. Great location. Music was good but on weekends loud. The location was perfect. We were close to parking and in the middle of everything. The food was very good too. Thanks to all who made our stay so great.
The female singer in the two piece group that played on Oct. 15, 2014. We had bought them a drink and requested some older Irish pub tunes. She blew her nose on the request napkin and made a very negative comment. That really made us feel less happy to be in Galway. It was our first night in Galway and we were ready for a good time. After her meanness we just went to bed feeling down.
