Very friendly, polite and helpful staff. Love having a bath as well as shower. Great location.
Noisy outside the window at night.
Hotel needed renovation and cleaning
this place was over priced 135 euro a night and not worth 30 euro , the whole place stinks , the floors are a mess . if I could have found another place we would never have stayed there. even thought I'd paid for it . Do your self a big favor an look else where !!
Location is superb, lovely bar with lovely food, great sunday evening music session, lift is a bit offputting but room was spotless, a bit noisey but to be expected because of location
The lift was offputting, it smelled of vomit
The location is great and the staff are friendly and helpful.
Lighting in bedroom was poor. A bedside lamp would have been helpful.
Location is really good. Right in the middle of the action.
Looks very tired, needs redecorating and a good clean. Rooms could do with soundproofing.
I just wondered if rubbish was being brought through the hotel in the lift? The whole place outside of the rooms stunk. The lifts definitely smelled of a refuse bin and needed refurbing. The rooms were nicer than expected and it's a pity the walk to the rooms and the lift made me worry that the rooms would be sub standard!
noise and smell
Passed by hotel could not see name no viseable signs
Having to wait for room till after 2 after long and tiring journey, bar closed at 11 not acceptable for residents.
In the heart of a fun district
Strett is a bit noisy. Get a back room
Very talented musicians
Staff were friendly and helpful. It is a very lively area, especially on the weekend. Definitely a "party" place. There was a great restaurant (Martines) across the street.
Constant all-night noise. Even when the music stopped, younger people were drinking and partying all night long, and this made it impossible to sleep. Definitely not recommended for older folks, or those who want to sleep, especially on a weekend.
Perfect Location, very helpful and lovely staff, very accomodating.
My husband, daughter and I stayed at The Spanish Arch at the end of September. We were greeted by Conor, who was so nice and very helpful. The hotel's location is excellent and we enjoyed the bar. The room and bathroom were clean for the most part.
The only negatives we noticed were the floors could use a good cleaning and the lift was a little questionable, kind of dropped a few inches when we arrived at our floor. It would probably not be a great place to stay with young children with the bars right below.
Right on pedestrian street so close to everything Staff, especially Colin Haggarty were very friendly & accommodating
Very smelly elevator No parking No WiFi in rooms, had to go downstairs to lobby or into bar
The bar and bar staff were amazing!! The band was fantastic!
The room was old and falling apart. The beds were incredibly uncomfortable and the carpet was old and needed to be cleaned.
Noise in morning from street. Could do with redecoration.
Lovely location and very friendly staff.
Spartan room with no bedside lights but biggest problem was the noise from very late night revellers even on a week night. Maybe we were just unlikely but we didn't stay for a planned second night.
First the lift was out of action which was not good. We had a room on the 3rd floor and when we made our way up the stairs realised that there were 3 flights of steps to the first floor alone. My husband was only able to make it to the 2nd floor and we had to abandon going to the 3rd floor. We were then put on the 1st floor overlooking Quay Street which was noisy and at 7am barrels were being rolled off lorrys. The mattress was like Blancmange-had not a wink of sleep all night. This hotel is less than a 3 star. Never again
Room was fair enough. Good water pressure. room was not too hot, as we were there in mid September. A fan would be nice for warmer evenings. Location was good, staff pleasant enough. I would go back, but probably would not stay on a weekend, especially in the front. I can imagine it gets rather noisy then.
carpet was in bad shape. asked for a double, got a triple room. Still workable, as only two of us for one night. No WIFI in the rooms.
Location is excellent...surrounded by bars and restaurants
First hotel that I have ever stayed in anywhere in the world that doesn't serve breakfast!!!!!!!
Location fantastic - right in the middle of bars of Galway, plus near to river/arch. The room was large and the bathroom was nice and big, with a good shower and lots of towels. The bar downstairs was really atmospheric with live music and the staff were helpful.
It was quite noisy as our room window opened onto the main street and although the hum of the bars didn't stop me sleeping I was woken by delivery/bin lorries quite early. It was also quite difficult to find with car and I hadn't received details of where to park (nearby multi-storey) which would have been helpful. The room was a bit drab and I was a bit disappointed as the guide book mentioned it was a converted convent but there was no trace of its past.
