Reception staff were naturally friendly and cheerful. Liked the healthy approach in having a basket of apples at the reception. Simple yet appreciative touch. Foyer area nice and hotel residents bar is run like clockwork. Although a little on edge of town, taxi service prompt and reasonably priced. Rooms very spacious and all is positive about the room, except a touch monotone (and dare I say masculine) for my own taste. From this point of view I felt decor was more geared toward business people. Carpet servicible and practical, but not to my own personal taste. Elsewhere the hotel was tastefully decorated. A touch of colour in the rooms would be a positive move!

I enjoyed it because the athmosphere is warm and relaxed. The 'job' that the hotel has to do gets done, but you don't feel you were being shunted around or 'in the way' or a 'nuisance' for being there. Calm and peaceful athmosphere. I thought the room (408) was a bit dark - the furnishings were too heavy in colour - the 'gold' theme was not of a bright enough gold and the lighting was bit too dull - need a stronger light bulb near the mirror. I was very cold the first night and had to ask for an extra blanket for the second night.

Evening meal in the Restaurant was lovely, Very tasty. Good variety and good value for a couple €59 for a 3 course meal with a bottle of wine. The parking was atrocious and the design of the rear car park horrific. Tv in the room had no sound (2nd tiome to stay and 2nd time a problem with the tv). Breakfast was only luke warm and tasteless (at 8am).

Although I found the hotel to be very clean with friendly staff I must comment on the bed in room 306 it was damaged with the mattress sagging in the centre. A small mistake from the breakfast manager left us waiting for a table while everyone else who arrived in got seated, we were asked to wait outside while a table became available and were forgotten about. I did not voice these complaints upon checkout as the reception area was busy and I did not want to voice my concerns where other customers were listening but had I have not paid for my room on arrival I would have seeked a discount.

The hotel was in a great location and was a good price, room/bathroom were a good size also! The noise of the music on Friday night was so loud I had to turn my television up loud and eventually had to take a sleeping tablet to get to sleep. Not good if someone had to get up early the next day or wanted a nice relaxing weekend. Our room/ bathroom was clean but was a little bi grubby around the tap...little bit dusty also for a four star hotel, downstairs/pool etc was lovely!

The Talbot is a nice hotel didn't get to sample the hotels Liberty Tree restaurant for an evening meal but the breakfast was superb and the restaurant had a nice vibe with lovely views overlooking rolling fields. Wasn't happy with location of room as it was on the first floor just above the hotel bars outdoor smoking area and it was quiet noisey till around four a.m so I didn't have a good night sleep. So if I return to this hotel I will specifically ask for a room on one of the upper floors at the back of the hotel.

Staff very friendly and the bar is lovely especially at night time. The foyer is bright and modern. It is only 4 mins from the town centre. Overall I would recommend it and will revisit. Not enough towels for 2 people to shower.

The rooms wre big and clean, the staff friendly and the Gym / Pool excellent. A fire alarm went off at 2pm, we were positioned on the second floor above a wedding that went on until 2.30 so had a very poor nights sleep. I'd suggest that guests not there for and wedding or events taking place are placed well away from the functiion suite.

Nothing, absolutely nothing. Met Laura at reception an she was lovley and after that it was a disgrace. I was put in a room with a vent that apparently has noise levels determined by the which way the wind is blowing.at my insistance,i was moved to the only other free room, where the vent noise'would probably not be as bad'...it was not 'as bad'but certainly it kept me awake til 4am. Thus very little sleep, then missed beakfast and the swim (the reason for paying €99 rather than €40 at another local place. Then I was met by a cheeky 'smart ass' receptionist who offered me a manager, which I refused as I was far too stressed which led to a nose bleed. It was a disgrace.. It was he 17th hoteli stayed in since Januaryand the worst experience in 20 years in 20+ different countries. Bed spread had tooth paste (or some similar white paste) on it, the floor carpet was stained, the white sheets had black marks on them, thenoise levels were way too loud
