The location of this hotels fantastic. Really brilliant for everywhere I needed to get to over my 4 night stay here. The lady who works behind reception is very friendly and helpful.
The hotel is very noisy. I did not get a good nights sleep once. Constant music booming till early hours and my room was not cleaned once. I would not stay here again. If you do not plan to get much sleep during your stay then it is perfect as the location is just great.
The free drinks we received in apology for terrible service and awful rooms.
the room was riddled with mould & damp. The mattresses were wafer thin, as were the pillows. The bathroom was filthy. The furniture was damaged. The front door of the 'hotel' was damaged and sticks badly.....why not repair it??? The worst hotel I have ever seen.
Beds were very clean and comfortable. Hot water available all day. Clean towels.
No heating despite being told that it would be on at 6pm. We had to have a portable heater as it was very cold. No bulb in the lamp, so we had to sit in the full glare of the main light. The hotel wouldn't lend us a pair of scissors. We flew to Dublin, so couldn't carry a pair of scissors with us. My sister was told to come down early for breakfast (as we ran the Marathon), all that was out was a box of Rice Krispies, not the Continental Breakfast advertised for 5 Euros. No 'on' switch on the television, so you had to push your finger into the set itself to be able to switch it on and no remote control. Main traffic carpeted areas were very dirty. Hairdryer nozzle held on with sellotape and was not very powerful.
Close to city centre and shopping area. The room is quiet, we had enough space.
Bed was too old and worn out so it was very uncomforatable to sleep on it. Old equipment in bathroom. Entrance corridor was too small and with ugly decoration. No lift.
Close to the center of the city, near many shops, restaurants, cafes and bars. Friendly, responsive staff.
Felt the cigarette smell from the neighboring rooms.
The room was clean, location was amazing and the staff were all polite and friendly.
All the stairs but they can't help that.
The abbey hotel is in a great location near to lots of Dublin attractions and shops, staff were friendly, had a few drinks in the bar hotel which was great and they wasnt too expensive also had a lovely three course meal one night at the hotel restaurant area, food was nice.
The room wasn't the best, we had damp all over the one wall, the room was a great size but looked uncared for, we had a problem with the room keycards because they wouldn't work and let us in the room all the time so I had to go own four flights of stairs to reception and then they programmed them again, the lift was out of order so it was a nightmare running up and down the stairs.
The lady at the desk was nice and the bathroom was clean. Dublin was easy to tour on foot from this hotel.
Hard to find. Parking cost us the cost of the room and we got locked out of the parking garage and couldn't get to our car. They should tell you these things when you park in the garage right across from the hotel. The room for three person included a cot. A cot is not a bed. It collapses and is not comfortable. There was no room to move around the room or to put our luggage. Carrying all our luggage up 5 flights of stairs was horrible. No security. People from the restaurant next door could walk right into our stairwell. Worst hotel we stayed in during our ten day trip! Also, no wifi!!! This is huge when you have flight and car reservations to check and confirm!
Location Friendly staff. Good food at restaurant.
No lift to 4th floor. Had heavy luggage. No carparking No heaters working to dry washing.
The location and friendly staff. Nice bar.
The carpet was not clean and the wallpaper was very unpleasant near the floor. Did not look nice.
Right in the middle of the centre
Door lockig system unstable, not so clean, no elevator, old Windows
It has been smoked a lot in our room and we couldn't get another room instead of that. Both little lamps didn't work. Tv's remote control was not working. There was not a coffee-maker in the room, only hot water available. Some day cleaner didn't come at all. Very noisy because of some kind of compression working 24/7 outside. Breakfast was not rich enough comparing to it's expensiviness (no ham & eggs).
Great location, friendly staff
No wifi; this was a majorinconvenience
good location , just short walk from temple bars area, room was fine and everthing you need
on arrival got given a room which was not cleaned ,so changed room and same problem. till eventually got sorted
The location The staff at the hotel
The bed The broken window The dated bathroom
Uncomfortable bed, loud air con unit directly outside window, low water pressure, moldy bathroom
Staff were so friendly and helpful with Dublin sites. We went to a concert in Dublin and there was no designated time they lock up, which was good. It was right in the middle of Dublin and so close to shops and food places.
No lift in the hotel, but thats really not a negative that i found. It didnt bother me.
- Staff - Location
- Bathroom - Noice of air condition machine under our window - Bed was terrible :)
The hotel was very clean, the staff were extremely friendly, a short walke the city centre. Thank you Abby hotel for the warm welcome
Could change the mattress lucky I was drunk for most of the weekend a little bumpy
It was right in the centre of the city so was close to everything
There was nothing i didn't like
Great staff, very friendly. Nice Bar beside the hotel. We liked the menu and food! Room had more space than expected!
Tramlines at the street (what do you expect in the middle of the citycentre :) )
* Ideal location.
* The lift has been blocked off so I had to drag my heavy suitcase up eight flights of stairs to room 404. * All walls in room 404 were covered with brown patches and were an absolute disgrace. * Having unpacked and settled into my fourth floor room, I then found that the door wouldn't lock. The receptionist therefore moved me to a room on the second floor - I had to repack all my things and drag my case down another four flights of stairs. * The bathroom in my first room had a tile missing. * The bath in the second room was filthy, with black mould and gunge along the edges. Numerous tiles were also coming away from the walls. * The soap in the second bathroom wasn't new, but broken off a larger bar - heaven knows where it had been. * Both bedrooms were in dire need of a lick of paint. * Despite staying for three nights, on no day was my bed made - the housekeeping leaves a lot to be desired (if there is any). * I returned to my room on the first day to find that my shower curtain and its rail had both been removed. At no point during my stay were these replaced. * Sleeping in the second room (204) was impossible, owing to the air conditioning unit or whatever it is that is right outside the window. Even with the windows closed it sounds as though there are roadworks being carried out - this noise was incredibly loud and I would suggest that the hotel manager tries spending a night there, see how she likes it!
Friendly, decent staff Nice, quiet bar Fantastic location Allowed us to leave bags there securely between arriving/checking in Relatively clean
Room was next to noisy generator/was also the view from our window Creaky bed No hot water for the first few days
It is in the centre of the city which is very good for city visiting travelers
Very poor accomodation al facilities are out of standards, bad matresses, no hot water for 2 days, noises all nights in one single word is a nightmare.
Good value for money no frills hotel in the centre of Dublin just minutes from most attractions. Clean room Staff were friendly enough
The bar staff were quite often away from the bar so had to wait quite a while to be served
