Wonderful location and easy to walk to the town centre.
Was invited to go to room 10 up the stairs. No effort by host or hostess to help with bag. Room 4 flights up. I am 70 so I thought such a courtesy would be offered.
Close to city centre
It was clean. The location was great for UCC.
The wifi didn't reach my room, which was tiny. Asking for poached eggs at breakfast I just got one. The road outside was noisy with students coming back from the pub and traffic in the morning.
Breakfasts were fantastic! Room and especially bathroom very small. Suggest that you ask for larger room if possible, especially if you travel with a lot if luggage.
Location, attentive owner who provided a continental breakfast as I had to leave before breakfast sitting.
8-9.30am breakfast sitting
First you feel you are welcome ; at the end of the day when you come back to the guesthouse you almost feel at home;we ate giant pancakes for breakfast ...so good; Angela and her waitress often smiled and this is very important ;also we had two keys and could return at anytime in the night
The room was very clean, quiet and the beds were so comfortable. Great location-right by the university and close to the city centre. The staff were absolutely amazing and the breakfast was outstanding, particularly for a B&B. I recommend the pancakes and the full breakfast!
Beautiful older home, perfectly maintained. Excellent staff and breakfast.
Rooms were very small. Cork was not one of our favorite cities.
Cork college was walking distance, beautiful campus
This is a well located B&B on a main road into the city. Very comfortable with a lovely bed and nice shower room. Pleasant staff. Decor pleasantly over the top which provides one part of the eccentric tag.
Breakfast starts late - 8.00 during the week and 8.30 at weekends, not convenient if you are trying to get to meetings. It also takes a long time - there was a queue waiting for a table each morning I was there. The food was very good though and probably cooked fresh hence the wait so I was ok with it. Pay cash if you don't want you credit card currency conversion happening automatically (at poor rates).
Lovely comfortable stay, with a great breakfast.
Room was at very top so being a women on my own with a heavy bag it was very difficult to get up and down the stairs
Angela and Shirley's breakfast. The room was perfect. Bus or walk into Cork.
The Blarney Stone is a beautifully decorated townhouse just on the outskirts of the main part of Cork City. The place was so nice that our spirits were not even dampened by the two flights of stairs to our room. The bathroom has been recently updated, and our room was moderately sized. Breakfast was excellent with a great selection on the menu. The staff were gracious, and even though we were there for only one night, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. There is a very small car park in front and more space behind the building.
The only problem we had was finding the place, but once we did, it was well worth it.
great breakfast clean and comfortable room friendly staff
noise from the street late at night
Too much sound could not sleep with window open.
House well looked after and very clean. Quality of breakfasts was excellent. Reasonably close to central Cork. Lady who served breakfast and did all the housekeeping worked so hard and always tried to help.
Unlike the rest of the guest houses we stayed in, the owners were no where to be seen. We were never asked if everything was ok.Bedroom and ensuite were cramped. Alot of night time noise from student houses close by. Insufficient tables at breakfast for the number of people staying. The kitchen was not keeping breakfasts co-ordinated; my partner finished hers before mine arrived. Quite expensive.
Quality fittings, bed linen and very well decorated. Breakfast was very tasty and freshly made.
Tiny rooms and no space at all in breakfast room in the morning. The very small room was full except for two places near window which made getting to buffet table difficult as you had to squeeze past other guests. My porridge was lovely but I hadn't the heart to upset my neighbours to get honey etc from buffet table. Can't understand why adjoining room wasn't utilised. The bedroom was also tiny.
- Breakfast was absolutely awesome. The full Irish breakfast and crepe-style pancakes are the best I had on my 12 day stay in various B&Bs across Ireland. - Angela and her staff were happy to suggest restaurants and activities for our itinerary and were most helpful in answering our questions as first time visitors. - Location, location, location... a mere 10 minute walk from everything we wanted to do in the city!
- Can't think of a single thing... so I'll use this space to simply say that the price of staying at this B&B is well justified for the quality of amenities and service that the friendly staff provide.
Wonderful Staff and owner. Very obliging even when we landed in at 12:30 pm off an overnight plane hoping to go to bed for the afternoon. Shirley fixed us all up. Great breakfast. Very clean. Newly appointed bathrooms.
Could have done with some extra TV channels but they be the cable or satellite system in Ireland!! Of than that, there wasn't anything wrong.
Very comfortable, friendly and an excellent breakfast
Not a lot of space for suit case to be left open.
The accommodation's location is excellent and the owner, Angela, is very friendly.
The room is extremely small: there is no space for two people even to stand in the room - one of them definitely needs to get on the bed. The bathroom is also very small. The bed was very uncomfortable and the bed linen definitely needs updating.
Spotlessly clean, very quiet and comfortable, friendly and helpful staff and a superb breakfast.
comfort and friendliness
disappointed that wifi unavailable
Only 5euro for a taxi home from town. Lovely staff!
