The Castle Gate Hotel

De kamer was schoon en ruim. Ook de badkamer zag er goed uit en een goede douce. dagelijks schone handdoeken en in het hele hotel WiFi. Het hotel lag naast de supermarkt.

Bij boeking werd aangegeven dat er tussen16 en19 uur iemand in de receptie aanwezig was. Toen we om 18.30 aankwamen was de deur nog op slot. Toevallig was er iemand in de receptie. Toen we even later van de kamer beneden kwamen stonden er nieuwe gasten aan de receptie en niemand aanwezig. De telefoon op de desk werd niet beantwoord. Toen we na 3 kwartier terug kwamen stonden de gasten nog steeds te wachten. Het ontbijt de eerste twee morgens was matig. Moesten zelf de waterkoker vullen voor koffie of thee te maken. Niemand aanwezig. Zondag was het beduidend beter.

It was so cheap and very clean with friendly service, they allowed me check in early as I had a family event to attend. Staff were lovely. Would definitely go back

Clean, comfortable, parking arrangements were suitable.

Breakfast arrangements were a little bit awkward the first time in. and send day no water in the dining room to make a cup of tea.

Nothing good about the hotel. The castle and gate in Athenry is lovely, well worth a visit. Pubs and restaurants very friendly. The other hotel was lovely. The New Park, I just should have gone there.

It would have been nice to see some staff.! The hotel was like the Marie Cellest, really it was like a ghost hotel. In the reception there was a note to ring a number to get details of your room! No other contact, had to make your own breakfast, had to find the light switch for the "breakfast room"....actually behind the reception desk! Room was clean but heating was non extistant, we slept in tracksuits with any extra blanket we could find on the bed. You could not make up this experience. No sign in, no sign out. Other guests wandered around looking for any staff. People just left! There is a lovely hotel on the other end of the town. Go there

The price.

Bed very uncomfortable. Smelly throw (duvet- smelled like it wasn't washed very often) was rushed to arrive n rushed to leave. Not upto speed with current customer service expectations.

Rooms were not cleaned very well - dusty lampshades and carpet hadn't been hoovered

No heating or hot water. Toilet doesn't flush properly.

it was a cheap and handy location for me, and this was not the first time I stayed there. and I will stay there again, you can not beat the value for money of this place!

The receptionist was lovely. That was the only good thing.

The place was run down, so cafe/restaurant, no heating, our room was freezing. Old, grubby. We were advised the receptionist not to eat in the hotel so we cancelled our breakfast there. Dreadful night.

The price

Cold very cold no proper breakfast and no bar its beyond me how the owners can call it a hotel more like a hostel

Good location for what I was doing

No hot water for shower constant noise from a pump at rear of premises staff were not all that helpful or didnt seem to have any interest in what they were doing.

This hotel has very cheap rates and I feel that it is very good value. I found the hotel very cold when I arrived first but the staff made every effort to provide additional heating, including a hot water bottle. I found my room clean and comfortable and I had a very good nights sleep. The shower was very good and there was plenty hot water. Considering what I paid, I felt I got very good value. I would stay there again.

There was no one there when I arrived first and it took me a while to make contact with anyone. I did arrive earlier than anticipated. The hotel was very cold too- it was a very cold evening. However, I subsequently found the staff very helpful.

Nothing! It was a disaster. Myself and my sister were the only guests at the hotel. There was no receptionest when we arrived, just a piece of paper on the counter with a mobil no for us to call. The lady arrived showed us the room took our money and we never saw another person after that. No bar/ resturant/telephones/security. The door to our bedroom wouldnt lock so we had to pull a dresser up against it to secure ourselfs for the night. Leaving the next morning there still was not one member of staff to talk to and no answer from the mobile no!!!!

The whole experience was very scarie. Cant understand why they took a booking for a hotel that is not able to provide staff or security.

Rooms were clean and good value. Good central location (when eventually found) to town.

Paid approx 5euro each for breakfast in advance when booking (4 guests) and informed upon arrival that it would be a Continental breakfast available between 8.30am and 10.00am on Sunday. 8.30 came and went and 9.00 as well and at 9.15 we had to leave as we had plans made for the day. This left us too late to organise breakfast elsewhere. Not very well organised.

Some of the Other guests were not respecting code of conduct............................loud, smoking, shouting eetc

Friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere.

Noisey and rooms could be warmer.

A large clean warm room with an excellent shower at an affordable price with free parking and free WiFi. Both staff members that I dealt with were friendly & helpful.

A slight delay at the reception desk ( 3 to 4 minutes ) but this was not a problem for me.

This hotel has character, a word that you have not included above. The staff were friendly and helpful. The price was good relative to the product and I will certainly stay there again. The room was spacious and the shower was excellent. It was peaceful & quiet.

I do not have any dislikes with it.
