Its location is ideal if its centre city thats required. The noise was unbelieveably loud, we had approx 2 hours sleep. We closed the window and room over heated, no air conditioning, for a hotel of its rating and price, no tea/ coffee making facilaties. Tv was so small, why? We were informed it had been a 5 star and dropped to 4, doesnt even make a good 3 star. We complained about the noise and were told that it was a problem for them. To be charged so much money and deprived of all sleep on what we had planned as a special night away it so wrong, left us feeling really tired and angry. Also if bono and the edge insist on using their names to market the establishment, they would be well served to have some issues addressed. 25 euro car parking.

The room was spacious and the bed comfortable. The bar had a good vibe. Hotel staff were very helpful and courteous. The location was excellent for a business trip and would also be good for a city break. Nicely stocked mini bar. Good quality shower gel, shampoo etc. in bathroom. Towels and sheets were also good quality. Room overlooking a bar courtyard (the Picture Rooms?), which meant the windows had to stay shut at night to block out the noise. No air conditioning (a fan does not have the same effect). No tea or coffee making facilities in the room. Overall, the decor is a dated and could do with an overhaul.

I am undecided. The staff were excellent (but you would expect that) and it was spotlessly clean (but you would expect that). Bed was comfortable and the size and quality of accommodation was to a high standard. The fact it did not have kettle tea/coffee facilities in room unless specifically requested. When I booked the hotel I said I was travelling as a single mum with a 12 year old. The room was sandwiched between the night music and noise on the one side coming from Temple Bar as well as bar noise coming from the other side of the building. I am not a light sleep but the noise kept me awake until 4am both nights!! Fortunately, my daughter slept through it but I did not. For that reason I would recommend the hotel to young people who would be part of the noise and not trying to get a "good night sleep"

Staff brilliant. Rooms impeccable We were on the Temple Bar side, and could hear the 'music' from that area till very late hours! Receptionist said front of hotel was better in this respect, so would ask for that next time...but would traffic then be the problem from early hours?

Location is excellent, very close to main entertainment areas in Dublin. Because of its location it can be noisy late at night (people) and also early morning, cleaning, deliveries, etc.

Friendly, helpful staff. Great restaurant and food. Room was very 'beige' not too attractive. Very noisy traffic and people noise at night. Tea/coffee making facilities in room would have improved it.

Plush surroundings providing a quality feel combined with extremely helpful reception staff. Bar and restaurant facilities were very good. Waiting staff in the bar could be a little more savvy - if they're providing table service and the glasses on the table are empty, then don't simply take them away - ask us if we'd like more. Also, being very close to Temple Bar it's loud at night, but that's part of the vibe for that area.

The location was good and the room was very comfortable and clean The heating was stuck permanently on sauna although there was a fan. Don't plan on getting much sleep as the noise from outside /downstairs went on until the very early hours. We ate in the tea rooms where the food was excellent but we did have an issue with the staff. It took them 35 minutes to take our order and we had to ask them twice and they seemed annoyed when we asked for anything. Overall I found The Clarence a real disappointment and would not recommend

Well located - very close to Temple Bar and alot of the cultural sights. Friendly staff. Room was a little basic, and not all lights worked when we checked in. Guest lounge close to reception was very comfortable, but we expected one or two more facilities for a 4 star hotel. Breakfast in the restaurant was very good and staff very attentive. All in all a good stay.

Well I would recomeed that they put in air conditioning in the room as the rooms were very stuffy and hot. It was also very noisy as are room windows opened on to a smoking area they also had a sound check in the afternoon for there night club.

Tastefully designed rooms Extremely disappointed. The dinning experience was horrific & the restaurant had a full melt down. Eventual service had been pulled back to some kind of order, however when the food finally appeared it was barely edible. The room we stayed in had a single pained window leaving every street sound heard, never mind the outside marquee directly under our window with a private party until 4.30am

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The roms were far too warm and the heating could not be controlled from the rooms. It is too noisy on the street below to leave a window open.

Small & friendly with very attentive staff both on the front desk & the breakfast restaurant.Breakfast was very good as was the service in the lounge etc. Location to both bars/restaurants & shops (Grafton Street) etc was very good. Everywhere was within walking distance and it is positioned by the river and with easy access to the many river bridges & tourist sites Compared with certain other city centre hotels the Clarence is rather understated. It does not have certain extras such as bath robes and we had to request certain basics in the bathroom as it was only prepared for one person. It was functional rather than luxury in its overall feel but the rooms are of a good size and there is a lounge & lively bar. It is understated which some travellers will love whilst others may want more of a buzz from thier weekend break hotel.

Staff were very pleasant and helpful, very good breakfast and good breakfast room.vefy comfortable bed. Adverts for this hotel should state quite clearly it backs on to temple bar nightlife area and unless you have a room away from this (I was moved after coplaining) you will not sleep until after 3 am nightly,

The staff were exceptionally friendly and very helpful. This was in a great location. I upgraded to a balcony room which stated views of the mountains, Unfortunately our room was a view of the office block opposite so we had to keep curtains closed for duration of stay :(

Location for city centre is good, with most things that you wnat to see and do within walking distance. I felt room was a bit 'tired', thread bare carpet. I would have liked facility to make a cup of coffee. Although the location was good and I was only staying one night, the noise from the street was very intrusive even with window shut. While the man on the desk was very nice, the lady was very sombre and never seemed to speak! Very good hotel if you are just want a good base. This was my second stay, and I would consider it again.
