The Fitzwilton Hotel    

Very good standard of accommodation, well designed and furnished

That they accommodated us to a big room

City centre location and secure parking. Clean, comfortable room. Nice restaurant and bar. Friendly restaurant and reception staff.

Breakfast was messy and below 4 star standards. No leisure facilities like pool or spa.

Carpark holds about 30 cars if even that. Lucky we stayed on Saturday night. Free street parking Sunday. Shower not great either

I found staff very helpful and pleasant , the location was very central near all shops and clubs . Overall a lovely stay.

I found the bathroom in rooms shabby the could do with better maintenance . Maybe modernized a bit .

Rooms to Small

Staff were superb

The staff were let down by the state of the hotel. Appears great until you look in more detail. Too many lights not working, scratched paintwork, shower curtains not having enough hooks to hold up properly, etc. The hotel appears not to have spent much recently on maintaining what ought to be a really nice building.

Location and parking

That there is no direct entrance from the carpark into the hotel.

Room key did not work 3 times, had to go downstairs and queue for over ten minutes just to gain access to our room.

Room was spacious and clean. Staff were excellent

Car park had no spaces when we arrived so had to find parking on a street nearby.

The room was a very good size and very comfortable apart from the heat.

Room was too hot, would like to be able to control heating.

It was in the heart of everything. Satff was Lovely. Food in the restaurant was Top Class, Steaks to Die For. Over all we enjoyed our stay with you.

The Rooms are nice but need to be painted and stains on Carpet Room 219 beside the bed was a bit off putting. Bathroom needs to be done up. I would ask that Irons be replaced with Steam Irons as we had to request one on arriavl. We came back to the Hotel at 01.30 and we were left standing outside the Front door with another couple ringing the bell and we could not get in so we had to use the outside door to the bar. We did not see a Night Porter at the Desk, and when we rang down on the same night there was no answer at the desk. You should look at this.

Nothing was stood out from any basic hotel I've stayed in.

I didn't like that we're issued one key only, I've always been issued 2. I didn't like that the tv wasn't tuned in properly and the remote didn't work. I didn't like being in a room above the bar as the music was too loud, the basic use of a hotel is somewhere to sleep and the fitzwilton would have failed on that for me personally only for the fact I was too exhausted NOT to sleep.

Terrific restaurant - which was a real surprise. Restaurant quality food for a very reasonable price. Best "hotel" meal we've eaten in a long time. Staff also very helpful and friendly. We booked this hotel knowing nothing about it at all - but now we will recommend it to friends.

The location is perfect is you are there to go shopping and the night clubs are in the proximity.

there should be parking for all the guests and there wasn't. The staff are not helpful at all and the hotel needs a good renovation. It seems that the management doesn't care about the presentation and the reputation of it's 'Four Star'. For us was a two star and that's it...

The roms were ok and clean. To add to 5 below I really could not recommend The Fitzwilton.

The steak sandwich that we had in the evening was terrible, it was cold and thrown together. The breakfast was also cold, the breakfast plates should be warm as when(and you should know) you put food on a cold plate the food cools immediately.

All the staff we encountered on our 2 night trip were wonderful and couldn't have been more helpful and friendly.We had great craic chatting to the bar staff!

The first room we were given was not up the the standard of the pictures on the website, carpet was dirty, furniture was scuffed and scratched and bed linen was torn! We asked to change room and the 2nd room wasn't much better, dirty carpet, make-up all over the wall but worse than any of that was the dirty unwashed cup that I found in the press with our tea making facility, there is absolutely no excuse for that kind of laziness where cleanliness is concerned and it made me wonder what else wasn't cleaned properly! We didn't bother complaining again as we didn't want to be a nusience.
