Lovely clean comfortable bed. Friendly staff. Public areas had nice decor. Sea view from bedroom.
The furniture in bedroom was well worn, handles missing and chipped. Carpet very stained and what looked like blood on the door frame of bathroom. Could do with an update. Poor flush of toilet also. Full Irish Breakfast was just ok, had to be sent back as it was cold.
Location good. Food good. Staff nice and friendly.room comfortable and clean.
It was very windy and wet when we were there and found it cold in the reception area.
Location and food
Condensation on windows no blinds on bathroom window or no ventilation
Everything about the hotel was great and staff very good
The Breakfast was Excellentm
The Staff were very unfriendly.
Well from we entered the beautiful great northern we were treated with great respect and staff just couldnt do enought for us golden oldies ( ah )
well we srayed in room 19 it was a little cold but very comforable
A very nice winter break and a good hearty breakfast
The location was brilliant. Staff was great.
The Shauna & Jacuzzi didn't work when we stayed. We weren't told about that.
The dining room was a nice space & had been decorated recently and the breakfast was quite good.
The hotel is very dated in terms of decor - lots of mismatched wallpaper and carpets with a scruffy feel beyond the foyer. Four star rating is very misleading. The food in the bar is depressingly bad and overpriced. There is nothing served beyond 8 O'Clock. The leisure centre is very 1980s, the pool is not too war and the changing rooms are far from modern.
Staff very pleasant
Did not need extra bed which made the room quite small
Friendly staff, good room, nice bar food, great location. Swimming pool handy for family and a good gym there also.
We liked the location and relaxed atmosphere, everyone very friendly, would definately stay again. Great value for money and not too far away from home.
Some parts of the hotel could do with modernising, bedrooms mainly but a coat of paint could do wonders.
Loved the location..and views..
No wifi in rooms Poor tv signal - tv very small bathroom needs updated very small hurt knee on the sink.. rooms a bit on the small side
porridge for breakfast delicious bedroom very comfortable like keys instead of card for room.
requested bar food at 1815 but was told not available until at least 1900 because chef busy with meal for wedding.
Booked this hotel on the morning of our stay, the Bank Holiday weekend. We were lucky to get a cancellation, blonde receptionist kindly ensured that our rooms were ready for us early, as we were moving here from grotty accommodation elsewhere. I requested a Sunday newspaper but other guests had them so I returned to the lounge, and later the same receptionist appeared with a paper for me. Good customer service, I thought.
If anything, the only thing I noticed was that the bar was understaffed, but given that there had been three weddings on three previous days maybe someone was on a well deserved day off. There was a very courteous and efficient bar man who was a solo act, and really could've been doing with an extra pair of hands.
The hotel is dated and overpriced. The food was bland and lacked imagination and clearly the menu is a throw back to 1980s
needs more vegetarian options on bar menu also it would be nice to have more than a scone as a sweet option.
The breakfast was poor
The staff were very helpful and friendly and the view was stunning.
We liked everything
Spotlessly clean room, good nights sleep and lovely breakfast. The views were stunning.
We arrived VERY late after car trouble and the night porter was the very soul of hospitality. We were very stressed on arrival and within a very short time he had soothed all our cares.
The lounge area was very comfortable. Breakfast was fab
Children limited access to lounge area. I was on my own with my 10 year old and 12 year old. Due to time of year food service stopped at 8. In room for nine every night
The hotel was warm and welcoming on the night I arrived. Food very nice and plenty of it!
Little information on the opening times of the swimming pool.
I liked everything about THE GREAT NORTHERN
