Score from 404 reviews Excellent
The location was excellent. The breakfast was amazing and staff very helpful
Lack of parking and having to pay for parking down the road at an extra cost of 45 euros. Lack of communication from staff re parking. Cost of room is too expensive in comparison to other b & Bs and hotels at the end of the peek season.
Everything. The best breakfasts we had in Ireland were here. They were superb. The rooms were small, but they were clean and comfortable and we had a private bathroom and great view. Very close to the Spanish Arch and all the things we wanted to see. I could easily have stayed an extra day.
Nothing. The Wifi was a little spotty.
Enya and cook were great!
Owner was unfriendly and curt
The owner The location The interesting breakfast discussions with other guests Parking arrangements
Breakfast, staff, fellow patrons, information, location.
We felt that the extra fee to park at the hotel should have been paid by the B&B, not the patrons, especially in light of the higher than usual room rates.
Our journey started with a warm welcome with homemade muffins and scons and tea in this very nice B&B. Rooms are nicely decorated, calm and have an exceptional view on the bay. A good place to enjoy Galway. In addition, you get a gourmet breakfast with quality food. Herons Rest, what else!
Nothing negative to say about this accommodation. The price might be a bit high, yet you get good value for it.
Staff were wonderful - warm, friendly and helpful. Our room was charming
Nothing really. Could hear neighbours slightly but no big deal
Availability during race week.
No traditional Irish breakfast.
What a beautiful place. A lovely cuppa when you arrive, what a nice welcome. Lots of advice on what you can do in the area. Friendly, welcoming staff who do their very best to accommodate your needs. Breakfast was delicious, all home cooked by the landlady, locally sourced and organic. Good location, near the sea and the town, it's a lovely walk in the evening.
Be aware that the local clamping company are a zealous lot here and will clamp your car pretty much straight away, so it makes sense to pay for the passes that the Herons Rest provide. No need to worry then about tickets running out etc. Also be aware of the week that you are booking, if you are looking for a peaceful break away then booking in Galway Race week is not the best idea. These are by no means faults of the Herons Rest who went above and beyond to make my stay as peaceful and comfortable as possible but it is a consideration when booking your stay.
Friendly welcome, breakfast, location
Noise from next room/ room above Cost of parking
Quayside views. Spotless large ensuite room, with great quality furnishings, even down to a decanter of port, locally made soaps and shampoo, and binoculars and deck chairs. Breakfast unlike anything we have had in a B&B before - no fried full Irish here ! Variety of freshly cooked sweet or savoury breakfast items including muffns, scones amongst many other things. Service from Sorcha and her team is excellent, nothing is too much trouble. 90 minutes from Knock Airport by car. Parking is easy - practically right outside the B&B. Hire a parking permit from the B&B, it is so much easier and cheaper ! Sociable city with great food and drink opportunities. Trad Irish music in many of the colourful local pubs. Great market. Easy to get to the spectacular Connemara coastal scenery by car. Aran Islands can be easily reached by shuttle bus from the city to the ferry. The International Arts Festival was on at the time which was of a high standard, and so much fun.
Having to leave.
Location, location, location,,,on the Long Walk Breakfast superb..
Noise from outside and from other rooms[?insulation issue] made sleeping a problem. Shared bathroom not ideal,at 80 euro a night,
The staff and property were lovely!
I would suggest reserving the private en suite option if possible. The staff kept the shared toilet clean, but the other guest did not.
Breakfast was very nice.staff great, close to centre, parking easy out the front, watching the birds, seals, fish, swans.nice view from room.
We are seniors and were given the top floor room, which was small but ok. The trouble was carting all our heavy luggage up 3 flights of steep steps and up and down when needed. From now on we are making sure we order rooms on ground or 1st when there are no lifts. We did get help with 1 bag. Peter, Sydney.
location, so close to city and lovely views, Lovely menu for breakfast and just a little bit quirky.
Maybe a little bit small if you wanted a romantic holiday as we all sat at a big table for breakfast but that did not bother us and were quite happy to chat with other guests.
Excellent breakfast choices, all beautifully prepared. The two girls were an absolute delight and obviously enjoyed their work!
The attention to detail and quality is great. The room was very comfortable, the breakfast very good and the view onto the river lovely. Very well located and an easy stroll into town.
Finding the place by car was difficult. Get to the Spanish Gate and then walk a bit downstream and you are there!!
Information about parking from booking.com was not strictly accurate. There is no free parking nearby and the only realistic option for overnight parking is the multi-storey parking station about 600 m away.
Great location, good facilities, wonderful b'fast and very convivial atmosphere. Would stay again.
The wonderful breakfasts - healthy and delicious. The delightful and helpful staff. The seafront setting and proximity to the town and good restaurants
