Old world feel, lovely building. Reception staff very helpful and friendly. Old hotel that has been revamped, as such some things still look a little shabby.

Maples House was by far the best b&b we stayed in during our trip to Ireland. The hosts were incredibly friendly, accomodating and we felt absolutely spoiled while there.

It was quiet and they gave us a bigger room when we requested it. The location is not as they say--"just minutes from downtown." In fact, it is 30 minutes to an hour from downtown walking or taking public transportation and a 10 Euro cab ride (17$). There is little "continental" about the continental breakfast of packaged cereal and jellies and white toast. When I asked the waiter to come to the table to ask him for a boiled egg, he refused, but I did get a warm raw egg. However, the rest of the staff was friendly. The bar restaurant downstairs was so hot we could not even enjoy a beverage.

Comfortable bed Room keycard didn't work so trudged back to reception to have it reprogammed; lugged my bag back up through the corridors only to discover keycard still didn't work; trudged back to reception again and girl came back up to room to open it with her master key. She assured me it would be fixed during the course of the day; however on return at 11pm it was still wasn't working so trudged back to reception...etc. Bathroom light wasn't working. Shower hose was leaking from 3 places. Tv unwatchable due to terrible reception.

The room was very quiet and it was close to the venue for my work training course. The food was very tasty, well presented and good value for money. To enter the restaurant for dinner and breakfast you have to pass the reception on both ocassions I was kept waiting for 20mins before anyone realised I was there and served me. One member of staff could not answer the simple question of what was on the menu for dinner. The staff seemed to be very preoccupied with talking and with the bookings but when it came to dealing with an actual customer less good. The room was poor in appearance for example there was a tile missing from next to the shower cublicle and the wall where the tile should have been looked grotty and mouldy, the shower cubicle surround looked cracked and dirty. The basin was so big that it was difficult to get passed it to enter the shower and the en suite was very cold.

Reasonably close to Botanic Gardens. The rate was good and the shower room was large and reasonably clean. Steep narrow staircase, receptionist said it would be easy to find room but there were no directions to it as it was not included on the numbering notices so I had to discover it myself. Room was poky with dark furniture and very high single bed. Small high windows looked out onto dustbins on a sort of terrace at back of property and the smell from them was awful so the window had to be kept shut. Had to rely on fresh air from the small shower room window which was at front of property. Around 9 A.M. somebody started drilling somewhere in the room above the head of the bed which would probably have given me a very nasty shock but luckily I was already up and left soon after as I had had enough!

Surprisingly easy to find given distance from city centre, but is near train stop and 5 min walk from main bus route to/from airport and/or city. Reception staff pleasant and got a deal on the cooked breakfast. Very quiet considering the small hotel contains a restuarant and bar. Room 12 central heating was off. Shower took time to warm up. TV is at a poor angle to view with not the best picture. Bed is crammed in with walls on immediate 3-sides. These comments were not enough to mean it was not a perfectly pleasant one night stay.

Cleanliness, sympathy of the staff, quiet. The low water pressure of the shower and its slow drain capacity.
