Great location. Helpful and friendly staff. Good breakfast and comfortable accommodation. A very pleasant stay and Excellent value for money.
My room. The bed. The communal lounge with kettle and fresh milk in table-top fridge available at all times. The accommodation for my bicycle! The friendliness of the staff. The style of the house. The cleanliness of the bathrooms.
+ Friendly and supportive staff + Rooms are clean and tidy
- Not a hotel, i.e. no 24h reception, no daily cleaning, ... - Location really far off the city center, esp. given traffic jams in the morning - showers do hardly work
Room was clean, Bed was comfortable
None of the staff informed us that breakfast would be served late, so we missed out on it. and left hungry. Had to queue for bathroom facilities.
Loved the location, it's on a good bus route into town or to the airport. It's also a very pleasant walk into the centre. The breakfast was brilliant, there were even fresh home made muffins one day. The staff were friendly without being pushy and the whole place was very clean. The area's quiet so slept well but there are pubs and restaurants nearby. I really enjoyed my stay there.
Nothing negative to say
Staff were very professional and helpful with information .Room is very clean. Breakfast was excellent .Price is not too high. I think we come again next year.
Bedroom doors was difficult to open/close. One pillow per person. No tea making facilities. 2 shared bathrooms for all rooms, very unsatisfactory and lack of hot/cold water during our stay. Price expensive for what was on offer.
The price wasn't too awful and the bed fairly comfortable though the springs were creaky. Breakfast was decently good.
We were surprised and rather unhappy to find that the mansion also has an addition to the side that is decidedly not mansion-like and our room was there. Very basic. Springs were creaky. Bathroom was extremely tiny. A little too far from any sights or activities and not right on a bus route.
Price, cleanliness, location, free parking and continental breakfast.
Decor and slightly shabby interior
Amazing place staff so friendly and helpful, made the weekend!
The Marilyn staff were accommodating, welcoming, and very helpful and we appreciated their advice on where to go and what to do during our time in Dublin.
I loved this hostel. Nice and clean with a lovely garden. Nice breakfast in the morning and a quiet pleasant neighbourhood with easy bus connection into dublin. Owner was lovely.
Staff are perfect...enjoyed my first game of darts and a nice barbecue...
Staff was very friendly and helpfull
The curtains didnt block the daylight too much.
Booked last minute and price reflected this so was happy with that. Location was perfect for the event I was attending and is in a nice quite location very near to shops/restaurants in Rathgar. Marilyn Mansion does what it says on the tin - provides budget accommodation at a reasonable price. Decor is 1970s kitch!
Showers could be better. Pity there aren't power showers.
Easy going and friendly place .... Make sure you arrive before 10pm and have cash in hand ready to pay .... they love cash ! We arrived at 10.10pm to be confronted with a notice - Phone Marilyn - they wasn't going to let us in, but once I had talked them round they were grand and the door opened .... and we were soon given keys to come and go as we please .... The place is good enough for the money, with the ensuite rooms worth every penny ....
There wasn't any stoppers for the sink or bath in the bathroom ....
I stayed here with my son for one night. I booked a twin room with shared bathroom but on arrival was told that we had been given an ensuite room for the same price. the room was spotless as was the bathroom, the bed was comfortable. the breakfast next day was what we were told it would be- continental- but there was plenty available and the managers and staff couldnt have been more helpful. i was a bit bemused by some negative reviews referring to lack of toiletries, location etc- this place advertises itself as a budget accomodation and is clear what is and is not available. It is not city centre but it is quiet and peaceful and on bus routes and city centre is tem mins by bus. it cost me 36 euros for two people including breakfast and i have to say it was far better than a lot of 4 star hotel chains I have stayed in in dublin who charge 4 times the price. plus there is free parking which is a rarity in dublin. I will definitely be back. I thought it was excellent value
Comfortable, secure and homely.
Little far from central dublin
EXCELLENT VALUR FOR MONEY
Very friendly staff, accommodating, and courteous.
On our first night we noticed ants in the washroom of our room, I mentioned it to the staff in the morning and he immediately apologized and moved us to another room which was clearly an upgrade. It was large and beautiful! The staff were so helpful throughout our stay, i would certainly stay here again!! Especially appreciated the fact that we were able to do our laundry there for a small fee of €3!!
Staff were very professional and helpful with information to tourist attractions in Dublin. Breakfast was excellent with home made muffins.
clean, cheap, close to where I needed to be, off road parking, friendly staff.
No en-suite, no plug in the sink in the wardrobe, couldn't turn down the radiator.
They allowed me leave my car there for two nights after I had checked out - thanks!
