The Mayfly Hotel (五月飞翔酒店)  

We really enjoyed our stay, the staff were top class, friendly, the food was excellent and we really enjoyed New Years Eve party, we will visit again

The staff were very friendly and they catered for all our needs. The food was was beautiful and the hotel and the rooms were very comfortable

It was difficult to get parking near the hotel at times

Everything, small room which we had to ask to be cleaned, only one plug in the room behind the headboard, had to ask for tea/coffee making facilities, kettle had to be boiled on the floor. Breakfast was listed as a full Irish, which included one and half slices of streaky bacon, we were told that there would be real bacon the next day, had to ask for everything, including a slice of soda bread, (we were in Ireland for gods sake the country is full of soda bread!!) butter, marmalade etc. The whole stay was awful. We knew there wasn't a lift at the hotel but as a couple in their late 70's we thought someone (staff) might help us with our luggage, not a chance. We went on to stay at Mount Woolsey in Carlow, no comparision.

Lisa was at the desk when I went to the hotel. She was so friendly and genuinely welcoming. I had the print-out of my booking but she told me that she had all the details and just wanted my signature. She gave me the card to gain access to my room and this card also gave me access to the hotel. This was wonderful because it saved ringing a bell or calling the night watch-man. Lisa showed me how to get into the hotel from the street. The room was absolutely beautiful. It had a large double bed. It had a very large bathroom and a large shower cubicle. The shower was very simple to operate, it was most effective and there was oceans of hot water at all times. The room also had tea/coffee making facilities. There was an electric iron and a hair-drier in the wardrobe and I also had the use of an ironing board. Even though I had a room facing the street; there was very little noise. I had a full Irish breakfast every morning and didn't have any other meals in the hotel; simply because the breakfast was sufficient for the day. All I needed was a bit of fruit or maybe a sandwich later in the day. Every one of the staff members I met was so, so friendly. This hotel is a real gem. Don't be put off by its low star rating. You certainly wont be disappointed if you go there and the staff will ensure that you have a wonderful time there. I certainly had and I will certainly be back again Please God.

There was nothing that I didn't like about the hotel. However, there was certainly a shortage of power sockets in my room (108). There was a table with the tea/coffee making facilities but there was no plug nearby. I had to bring the kettle to the side of the bed in order to boil it. This was no problem to me but if an elderly person was in the room, it could pose a problem. Just one extra plug near the table would suffice. I had a laptop with me and I had to place it on the bedside locker. If there was a plug by the table, it would be just perfect. That however didn't hamper the wonderful time I had in The Mayfly Hotel.

Good location, friendly staff couldn't do more for us. Owners were really friendly and the banter was good.. Food was v.good, lovely pud,accommodation was clean tidy. all in all a lovely place to stay, would stay again. Regards, Mr & Misses Whelan.

Convenience and efficiency

Stayed here and had a great time food is really good room Was very comfortable and clean the atmosphere in the bar was very unique an excellent pint of guinness and the most friendliest staff I have come across in a long time, I have found a place that I will definitely return to, they will see more of me at the mayfly well done to the staff and great breakfast.

Lack of heating in room Lack of hot water for shower or sink Poor response of manager to this issue - though pointed out at tea time on day 1 there was still no hot water or heat until later on day 2 - too late for morning shower. Only 1 socket in bedroom with extention lead for kettle etc behind bedside locker on the floor - hard to locate at first!

It was very central and convenient to the river for fishing. There were plenty of good pubs and places to eat nearby. It is a good base for touring the rest of the county.

The food in the hotel was very good but there was a wait of at least half an hour for it to arrive to the table and in one case over an hour. In spite of this we enjoyed our stay very much.

Great staff, couldn't do enough. Really good breakfast (arrived too late for dinner) Facilities more than adequate for my needs. No Hotel car park, on street parking, but adequate.

We got an excellent deal on B&B and ate in the bar that evening. The food was very good and the staff very attentive and friendly.

It was reasonably priced, convenient and functional.

The carpet in my room was in need of a major cleaning. This was offputting to a guest and left a bad first impression on arrival. No off-street parking facilities. The view of decrepid, derelict buildings and roofs from my window was not very uplifting.
