The Mountshannon Hotel  

Quite location people friendly . Excllent stay

This is a very friendly lakeside traditional family hotel whose pub/restaurant is a drop-in centre for the locals. This gives immediate access to the village-life and makes it interesting yet homely. The staff are open and friendly and seek to solve any problems.

Unless one is looking for 5 star international hotel amenities, this is a great hotel

Very dirty!! Filthy. We kill 2 flies and 3 spiders in only 10 minutes . Cobwebs in everywhere, and much more behind furnitures and corners. They haven't cleaned in ages! The water flush didn't work. However we urged them to change the room and they give us another a bit better. Very old instalations. Not value for money

Good location, beautiful views and friendly staff. nice breakfast.

The rooms need an update , they are very tired looking and a facelift is what the whole hotel could do with.

This hotel is one of those unique places which feels more like staying with a friend than a hotel. The staff and management here are very friendly and facilitating ( a sandwich at one am is no problem) .They are genuinely interested in their guests and take the time to get to know you.

Leuk dorpje gelegen aan het meer, echt Iers. Mooie ligging

Heb de indruk dat we kleinste eenvoudigste kamers kregen. Hadden een 2- persoonsbed en 1 kamer met 2 éénpersoonsbedden gereserveerd. Men probeerde ons eerst 2 kamer met een twijfelaar aan te bieden.Niet echt geschikt voor 2 18jarigen van 2 meter. Wel kregen we direct een andere kamer voor de jongens. Uiteindelijk waren er veel meer kamers met mooie ruime bedden, maar moesten als 'grote' volwassenen toch in de twijfelaar.

Good small friendly lakeside village hotel. Very acceptable standard of food, cleanliness and service. A good centre to explore the east Clare west Lough Derg area. The hotel bar is also used as a "local" by village residents and so provides an opportunity for the traveller to meet local people.

Mountshannon is a small place. There seemed to be just one other pub. It seemed to be popular as it was busy with meals the night we were there. The owner, I felt, was bit dour, but the young woman who welcomed us when we checked in and who was also helping behind the bar was very pleasant indeed. The breakfast was very good.

The whole place had seen better days. Our room was small and the furniture was ancient. The wardrobe door made a horrible groaning sound when you tried to shut it, so we left it open! It has the air of being suspended in time. I think it has been a busy place at one time but those days are gone. Would not like to have had an estended stay there.
