The Old Cable Historic House & Seafood Restaurant  

Mrs Brown (Margaret) was an amazing host, Great breakfast every morning and always friendly. The room we stayed in was off the main house so coming and going never felt like your were disrupting the other guests of the B&B owners. The rooms were absolutely spotless too, cleanliness was A+ The setting was amazing with lovely views of the mountains in the back drop while having breakfast. Great access to quiet country roads for cycling, close to the main town for restaurants and pubs. Nice little restaurant at the hotel with lovely homely atmosphere and fresh fish straight of the boats from Cahirshiveen. All in all a great trip, would stay again in a heartbeat, and think we probably will return before the end of the summer.

It is well located in Waterville. The owners were most helpful and friendly.

The Old Cable House & Restaurant is not geared to the requirements of a Business Guest. There was no internet in the room and the work desk provided was tiny. I was the only person staying in the house and I got the distinct impression that I was the only guest possibly since summer. I stayed in mid November. I had to keep the electric heater and the hot blanket on all night. The restaurant was also closed, so to advertise for a restaurant was misleading. It is probably a good place for holidayers to stay in summer.

The staff were very friendly and called everyone by their Christian names. The evening meal was excellant.

My room was rather small but as I was only there for one night it was no problem.

The staff were very friendly and were full of advice about how we could spend our time in the area. Despite it being out of season they were offering an excellent breakfast and evening meal should you want it. The room was very cosy and had everything you could need.

Intimate and friendly accommodation in a beautiful coastal village. Alan was very nice and made us very welcome and his cooking is excellent !

I liked everything about it: the staff, the lady (Margaret) who runs it; the beautiful location; the historical aspect of it; the cleanliness; the good food; the friendliness.

There was no TV in the room. Room small, but clean. It was not as it appeared to be on booking.com after staying in other B & B's we felt it was not as professionally run.

The food was really excellent, and it is a very comfortable place to stay in a peaceful environment, within walking distance of the village centre and sea.

We were so disappointed in this place. There is nothing Historic about it, it's very misleading. We were in a concrete addition to the house. It was bare-bones, cheap, cheap everything. The bathroom had no towels, 1/4 roll of toilet paper which had to double as tissue to smash spiders and bugs in the bathroom. The bath was so baren, it didn't even have a towel bar or hook to hang anything (after I had to call for towels)! The curtains were flimsy and light came through in the crack of dawn to wake us up. The view was of a propane tank. It was incredibly bad! And we found out the nice town pub/B&B was less per night than this dump.

Nice large rooms in quiet position, very large bathroom (on the groundfloor) and possibility to heat the room during the night whenever needed.

Very helpful landlady for skellig island boat trip. Offered to book trip which was very appreciated.

Friendly welcome, nothing was to much trouble, breakfast was excellent with lots of choice.

The owner, Mrs. Browne, was extremely welcoming & friendly. She drove me to a meeting a few miles away.

Hervorragend geführtes B&B mit historischem Hintergrund. Sehr gutes Frühstück, in der Saison auch Dinner. Man kann sowohl das Meer, als auch den nahe gelegenen See zügig zu Fuss erreichen.

Mi è piaciuto l'apetto storico e la'rredamento in stile, oltre all'accoglienza della signora.

Le couple qui tient cet établissement est vraiment adorable! Nous avons fait 6 B&B pendant notre séjour et c'est vraiment le meilleur. Excellent dîner.
