The hotel was a gem, easy to find since it's next to the monastery. Prices in Ireland had been a shock so this was excellent value and the room perfect. Delicious food and helpful friendly staff...we were sorry to have to move on.

The Pilgrims Rest was a delight. Very comfortable. The location suited our visit, family research, and was idealy placed between Keereen Lower, Youghall and Dungarvan. David, Mary and Chris were perfect Host's and gave great service. Breakfast was superb. The Hotel was close to Mount Mellery Monestary and a visit to the 'Chanting' by the Minks at 8.0pm was not to be missed. The Waterford Crystal Factory 50 minutes away to the East and Blarney Castle the same to the West with Jameson Whisky Distillery half way at Midleton was great. Lismore Castle Close to the Hotel with the Gardens made the Pilgrims Rest a good base. After these vistits a relaxing drink at the Bar or in the Lounge. Thank you David, Mary and Chris for the perfect trip. Patrick, Sean and Jane.

I chose this Hotel out of the Specials on offer for the price, location, and surroundings. The family made my stay a home from home experience, they are most welcoming. I will return!!! The hotel is full of character and retains a lot of the old world feel. Totally unpretentious, really worth a visit unless you are looking for 5* accomodation This hotel is right next door to the World famous Mount Melleray Abbey where the last of the Trappist Monks live and pray. This is an open Abbey and you can go and see the magnifiicent Abbey and the community chapel, where peace reigns!!! Amazing, they also have a Huge centre for Scouts where there was a conventenion on during my stay. Travel by The Vee for spectacular views between the mountains. As we went down the hill, my friend shared a story of stopping on this hill as you go down to the Vee taking the car out of gear and no handbrake! Mad!! Decided to try it and the car was actually reversing back up the hill..to our astonishment!!! We experienced an uxexplainable phenomenon. Just down the road within walking distance is the Grotto where in 1985 Our Lady appeared to a family praying the Rosary. It is the only place of Apparation in the World that I know of that is not commercialised, there are no stalls selling holy "stuff", which makes it so special. Our Lady's message was to pray for peace and it is so peaceful down in the grotto where "silence" reigns...really worth a visit and a prayer..... You are only a short distance from all amenities in this hotel.

I have visited this Hotel several times over recent years and it has always impressed with high standards throughout. The food is of excellent quality. The rooms are comfortable, warm and absolutely immaculate . They are en suite and feature perfectly functioning showers - something curiously lacking in more expensive Hotels in my experience. There is a rare homeliness and charm about the place. It retains traditional hospitality which the so called "Celtic Tiger" seems to have banished from so many Irish Hotels. The staff have a genuine care for customers, your are made to feel so welcome, no effort is spared to ensure your complete comfort. This is all clearly reflected in the clinetele, many of whom, understandibly return again and again. A sure sign of consistent quality. To top it all a wonderful location, and the value for money is absolutley outstanding. A truly unique Hotel.I am already looking forward to my next visit!

My wife and I had a very pleasant stay-it was a pity we were not able to stay for longer in order that we could have explored the local scernery and it was unfortunate the weather was not favourable to enjoy the views. The Hotel is quite basic but is very clean and the staff, who are members of the family who live in and run the hotel, were very friendly. The breakfast was very well presented and along with the room rate was very good value. The hotel is quite remote with Cappoquin at about 7kms distant having any facilities.

It’s the perfect place for a weekend if you’re looking for tranquillity, away from the urban noise. The hotel is real value for money, lovely deco, rustic style, very genuine, nothing “over made”, suits the beautiful scenery around.

The pilgrims rest was a very pleasant surprise. Chris and his brother were really welcoming and helpful and couldn't do enough for us. The room was a little old fashioned but in a good way and was really clean and cosy. The shower was great. We would definitely return there and would recommend it to anyone / families who enjoy the countryside, mountains etc. It is fabulous value for money.

The Pilgrims Rest is a comfortable and friendly place to stay. The welcome was warm and my room was gorgeous. I had the most beautiful en- suite I have ever seen. The building appears quite austere but is maintained and decorated very much in keeping with it's age and very interesting history. It is a georgian building and was once the "Ladies Guesthouse" of the neighbouring Mount Melleray Abbey.I Had both breakfast and dinner there. The food was delicious. I particularly enjoyed the homemade soup! The location is tranquil but is near enough to towns and villages so as not to be too remote. A visit to nearby Lismore is highly recommended. I would also suggest a visit to the monastery. The monks welcome visitors to their prayer services and the times are available from the hotel. If you are looking for a peaceful, comfortable and warm place to stay the Pilgrims's Rest should not disappoint. I must add it also offers excellent value for money.

We were greeted by friendly and welcoming staff. Hotel is family owned and old-style and has a calm relaxing atmosphere. Located in a scenic area with great walks closeby. The room was very clean and comfy and had a great nights sleep...no street noise or lights!. Chris, our host, provided delicious homecooked food and was unobtusively available to help. Great value for money. The place looked deserted on arrival so got a bit nervous! That was quickly sorted by a warm greeting.
