Wonderful location; very welcoming owners; comfortable beds with nice linen; very good breakfast; excellent value for money.
Clean tidy comfortable great location....a secret not to be missed
Tv didn't have many stations to choose from+the signal wasn't great!
The staff were lovely, friendly+helpful!Nice quiet hotel! The room was very nice!
I would have liked a broader menu
The hospitality was fantastic .the home made apple tart and scones were fabulous .and loved the peace and quiet
Hosts were grand, even helped carry our luggage up to room. gave us a heads up on the Monks chant time at monastery next street up. Wonderful
There was nothing I didnt like...only thing I would suggest is the need for a different priced snack menu as well as the dinner menu to suit everyone's pocket....the food there is excellent..Christine
I liked the way Mary, David and family took great care to make us feel welcome and at home there....total hands on approach with guests...I really enjoyed my stay there and hope to be back soon....Christine
i got lost trying to find it
The location was poor there was no kettle in room to even make a cup of tea they ran out of beer no dinner in evening , would I stay there again not a chance
The staff were very friendly
Staff couldn't be more helpful. Very comfy, warm room with huge ensuite bathroom. Free tea and coffe making facilities, which gave a relaxed, hostel-like feeling. Nice homemade dinner(get the chocolate cake...) Good value for money at €39 for two of us. A bit outside of town, but this gives a peaceful nights stay, no street noise etc.
Good location, nice building and well looked after
This was a special place with a special welcome, special guests in a wonderful wild location!
The best service I have experienced in Ireland. The hotel was located in a very scenic and historical region. The room was perfect, tv, dresser, wardrobe en suite. The food was home made and produce was sourced locally. Got the feeling I got a great deal. Would highly recommend the hotel.
The owners were the best I have Ever experienced. The food was top class
My third time staying here and the standard of excellence I experienced the first time has been maintained and exceeded, if that is possible. I got a lovely piping-hot evening meal at short notice on arrival, a warm cosy en suite room overnight and a piping-hot full breakfast the following morning all served with minimum of fuss and maximum efficiency. The proprietors are warm and welcoming and the location is as near to heaven as you are likely to get in this life and talking about heaven Pilgrims Rest is located at the entrance to the Cistercian Abbey of Mount Melleray. Overall a lovely experience which I intend to repeat. The definition of value. Thank you.
Really enjoyed our stay. We were made very welcome, excellent staff. Would highly recommend the Pilgrims Rest as a place to stay.
would like price to include continental breakfast.
The surroundings, situated beside monastary.
The artificial fire/ heater thing needs to go. Open fire in the evening is 25% of everything one expects of such an establishment no matter how few guests there are. I still love the place though.
The peace and quiet, if you want Club Med this isn't it. if you want a comfortable Hotel with old-world charm this is it. The food was wonderful. It was the perfect place to relax after a busy day doing business or sight seeing. Staff were courteous and efficient. Serenity thy name is Pilgrim's Retreat.
Metal bed that was noisy. Shower screen attached to the bath that made running the bath awkward.
Nice location, easy parking, No 6 room was a good size, nice to have a bath AND a shower. Good sized lounge with good wi-fi.
I can not understand some of the negative reviews I have read they just do not fit with the warmth of welcome we recieved
Large bath room, spotlessly clean room which was lovely and warm. Family run, who gave us a warm welcome. Close to Lismore castle and the V. Some interesting local walks which I plan to explore better on our next visit to this peaceful location
Terrific value accommodation. Friendly: nothing was too much trouble. Cosy place in Melleray adjacent to Lismore Cappoquin Youghal & Knock-me-down mountains.
No shampoo in en suite bathroom No hair dryer
Exceptional hospitality On-site bar and restaurant Comfort Location
Location was bit remote but i knew that when i booked. Guests need to have transport to get to it.
The hotel was cimfortable and the owners friendly and helpful. Definately would stay here another time. Extremely good value for money
The proprietor was extremely friendly and nice but his wife was cold and aloof. She only talked with friends or persons she knew. I would not like to return there if she is the only proprietor but her husband was friendly, nice and personable. She ignored us for two nights we were there which I found insulting and very rude.
I liked the countryside where this B and B is located. Very cozy room with antiques and clean bathroom. The owner made us the best homemade meals in Ireland with excellent lamb and salmon and freshly steamed vegetables. The dinner was delicious as we did not eat breakfast with him. He had fresh tea and coffee available all day!
Staff helpful, very peaceful, good home cooked food. Great value. Will be back
They almost forced us to pay together, ( we were 2 friends with one twin room booked together) We had to beg in order to pay separately ( 2 different credit cards). They refused to keep for us something in the fridge , it was the only b&b who refused during all our trip,
Quietness, Nice House, nice twin room, big garden , wide parking piknik table we do not have to take their breakfast, sometime it s good
