Location was very good. Bar staff and girls working there were very helpful and friendly.
quite expensive, "family room" was very small and for that reason we wouldnt stay there again. Restaurant prices very expensive and breakfast choice was minimal.
Beautiful location with great views. Nice breakfast room and good food. Rooms are attractively finished.
They scheduled an entire wedding reception with outrageous music just outside our window. It started about 10:30 PM and ended at 2 AM. They have a second facility away from the noise that they could have offered us, but didn't. We were unable to sleep or even carry on a conversation until after 2AM. Sleep was impossible. After 40 years year of world travel this was our worst experience ever.
Lovely location. Great view. Comfortable bed. Good linen.
Views from room with balcony. Bar staff and dining room staff very friendly. Paintings and decor in dining room interesting.
Bed room walls, etc need a bit of tarting up.
The breakfast and staff
The hard bed, dirty shower, dirty dining room floor, and dirty dining room chairs
food was fantastic, service fantastic and friendly. atmosphere relaxing and comfy. Art work lovely, decor lovely a perfect romantic night away for myself and my husband. I am a huge fan of the Haven and was very reluctant to go somewhere else when the Haven was booked out, I'm glad we did I think we might have to alternate our stays from here on in. Thank you strand hotel for a much needed relaxing night.
parking very poor. Wifi very bad if it was there at all. Room had no sea View
loved the location by the waters edge and looking out from the bar at the waves as they came in over the wall. the staff were very friendly and helpful.
there was no shelf to put items in the shower and i did'nt see an extractor for the shower which made the shower room steamy and could be dangerous.
Breakfast very average Room and facilities
In need of upgrade. Rooms a little tired.
nice hotel. nice style. lovely decor. perfect location. great views.
food menu (evening and breakfast) not vegetarian friendly
Location, appealing decor in pastel shades, very comfortable beds and quality linen, good fish restaurant, views, peaceful sound of the waves at night, occasional live music, good breakfast, attentive staff, comfortable lounge area and a popular adjacent bar with good bar food.(and beers)
A little disappointed with the choice of fresh fish on the menu having been to the Oar House in Howth three days previous. However the two lobsters were fantastic. Servicing of rooms needs a tiny bit more attention to detail to remove cobwebs at ceiling height. 30 seconds daily with a feather duster and you have solved the problem!
Restaurant and pub are quite nice, food in the pub was good but not exceptional. And then this experience in the morning: In the morning the very nice restaurant with terrace was empty when we came. Sun was shining (after a rainy evening) and we asked for sitting outside - 4 persons. The answer was "you have to sit inside until we served your breakfast, than you can take it out". That's what we did an when all of us were out on the terrace the waitress locked the door to the restaurant from inside, not closed it - locked it! Unbelievable. On the evening we arrived there was a big party in the restaurant, it would have been nice to be informed about that before.
We were very disappointed about the hotel. The rooms are very small, old and damaged and really dirty. Bathroom, toilet, cupboards and the floor. Only one chair in the room, 3 hangers, toilet brush not to touch! The sea view room goes out to a terrace for the public so the view is not really sea view (room no. 1) and the floor full of old cigarets. It seems, no one cares about this part of the hotel. The sentence "as the Foyle's have been running hotels since the beginning of the last century, we feel that we have what it takes to make your stay at the Strand as pleasant as possible" (original statement from the information on the room) is not to believe, that the owners really mean to run a professional hotel. The price is way too high for this standard. On our 10 days trip through Ireland we had exceptional nice B&B and apartments, every single one way better than the hotel The Strand and less expensive. It is a real pity for this location - you would pay a high price if you would have a high standard.
Restaurant was very noisy. Difficult to hear people at your own table. Suggest a review of some way to dampen down the sound.
Hotel location was excellent right on the beach.Bar and Restaurant had great ambiance and service. food was good value and tasty.Staff were friendly and attentive.I will definitely be going back.
Showers in bathrooms were a bit of a dissaster. very poor water pressure and bad drainage. some rooms were too hot. ( radiator was stuck on)
It is a beautiful place to stay rooms compact but very well equiped and beds very comfortable. View was fabulous and balcony to sit on to enjoy the sun during the day was delightful.
Breakfast was nice but very average. The live band playing directly outside my bedroom window was not great but at least if finished at midnight. The worst thing was the loud noise from the bar that went on until 4am - not good!!!!!! This place needs to decide whether it is a beautiful place for people to stay or a party hotel it can't be both unless it ensures all noise is controlled. Got very little sleep!!!! Don't stay if you need a rest.
entertainment very good and staff very friendly over all enjoyed the few days there
food and drink a little pricey
Live music on the terrace until 12.30 under bedroom window so no opportunity to sleep. Came home like a zombie after spending the weekend... Never again
Live music and public bar open until all hours. Noise still going on at 4 o'clock in the morning. No chance of a nights sleep.
Loved the location, the food , the staff and being able to hear the waves as I fell asleep
Bathroom was very small!!
The staff were very friendly and moved us to a better room on arrival. We would not have liked to have had a backroom.Breakfast room lovely food good.
Back of hotel looks shabby and car park untidy a good painting job would enhance the whole place
a beautiful place - warm cosy and charming! very good seafood restaurant
The location was excellent. Thats about it really.
room was very small. Out view overlooked a backyard. We waited over an hour for our food in thé restaraunt one night. We sat down at 8:30pm and had thé starter meal around 9:40pm. Service was very poor. Had to continously call for staff even for the water. Food wasn't great considering the price. We passed on thé dessert as was nearly 11pm at that stage. Found one staff member serving at the main bar delightful, the rest i couldn't care less if I didn't see them again. Went up the other hôtel called thé haven for drinks and lunch and staff and service so much better. Location is excellent but other than that i wouldn't go back again.
Our room was very nice. Had a wonderful view and was quiet. The staff was very nice. Great golf course just up the hill with good food.
Waterford was a longer drive than expected. Location a bit isolated. Our lunch was not good at all.
my room, It was a nice room with sea view as i asked for but not done up as i expected it yo be,
