Westgrove Hotel  

My wife and I stayed at the Westgrove for a recent trip to Ireland to attend a wedding at Barberstown Castle. The hotel staff were outstanding - polite, helpful and very friendly. The night manager in particular was amazing and deserves an accolade for the best late night/early morning toasted sandwiches ever!

Room was very hot and a little compact. There was no iron in the room but reception delivered it extremely quickly! However the one I did get had really dodgy wiring!

Card to open the door did not work all the time and the leisure club could do with more machines for weight training.

While its location may, on first sight, be somewhat unappealing (tucked into a housing estate with a large SPAR supermarket beside it) this is forgotten once you walk int through the reception doors and see the magnificent staircase which leads to a lovely first floor replete with piano and comfortable seating. The room was clean and comfortable and what more can you ask. staff were very friendly

This is a relaxing and chilled out hotal with very relaxed and friendly staff. The spa facilities look great and it'e easily accessed from Dublin,it's about an hour by car or bus. The facilities, bar and restaurant are up to a good standard and you can stroll into the small village in five minutes.

The hotel is prettty comfortable, clean and bright but it can feel a little characterless, I could have been in any business hotel anywhere in the foyer. There is also a little lack of life and colour in the decor. But very good for a weekend.

The heating was on in the room in the morning and it was very hot!

Staff were great. Room was lovely. It was our 35 wedding anniversary and we got a complimentary glass of bubbly with dinner. If I had any critisim it would be that my steak was a bit tough. But desert was fab. We will be back

Staff were friendly until you went to the Kitchen counter

First some one had previously smoked in the room. The smell when I entered was awful. To the extent I had to get my sinuses cleared aftrwards. I was uncomfortable for the rest of the night. The girl in reception changed me to another room. Damage was done at this stage. On monday I asked for a sandwich with soup. I was told you do not do sandwichs . This was at 2pm. Yet on the following day i saw a person eating a sandwich at approx same time. Where is using initiative.

Stayed overnight after attending a wedding. Staff couldn't have been more helpful or efficient. Room immaculate and well appointed. Unable to comment on spa facilities as departed early next morning.

Limited actual hotel parking. Adjacent underground car park is connected to a shopping centre and consequently Hotel Proprietors Act liability may not apply for damage to guest's vehicles. This aspect should be clarified on website.

Reception/spa staff helpful but they can't change what is not a 4 star hotel

I didn't like this hotel and complained. 4 star has to be a joke - Irish hotels can be very very good but this wasn'T. The carpet in room 240 was so dirty and covered with at least 20 separate bleach stains, the bed was rickety and the base looked ancient - O.k for comfort but aesthetically forget the whole place - bland bland colours which looked faded and tired. Patches of wall along corridor part/badly painted. Steam room has bits of tile/wood by door (which closes when it's in mood) hanging off - it was gross. Getting a call at 11.55am from I suspect chamber staff demanding to know when I was checking out finished it off for me. Was only drying hair as second dryer in spa wasn't working. Had been due to arrive afternoon but got there 8pm as soon, as walked in room felt relieved we got there late. Much better hotels in Ireland and wouldn't stay here again.

reception very helpful, let us check in early as had driven to hotel from a distance,swimming pool excellent,staff in general very helpful.

some of the decoration, carpets esp in corridors becoming jaded, bathroom in the room needs refurbished, guest parking constricted and good distance from reception..3 floors at reception somewhat dismal
