Location, accessibility to nearby towns. Friendly and helpful staff in general. Hotel needed a good clean. Very dirty water in flower vase on reception. Entrance looked untidy and wedding table showpiece unkempt. Headboard dropped off the bed as a bag was placed on the bed. One of the curtains was off the track in the centre. Bar tables were all dirty when we went in for a drink and it wasnt very busy so no excuse, it put us off eating at the hotel so we went into Malahide instead.

Very clean, staff very friendly but the best of all was the location across the road from the beach - fantastic! The co-located pub and restaurant serves great food. Nothing

Better than a hotel right next to DUB airport. I got the executive suite - hence I cannot comment on other rooms - but mine was excellent. The main street/access is between the hotel and the beach. However, that is ok since it is not meant as a hotel in pure nature.

I grew up close to Portmarnock, and I love that part of the world. I worked there all through the 70's, so I'm very familiar with the area. The hotel is in a beautiful spot.. quiet, private, fresh clean sea air, with ample & safe parking. The sea views are stunning, both day & night.. with Howth lit up at night. It's close enough to the city, but has everything in the village itself. It's also close to my family, so we can all meet up locally. I always try to book in there when we stay overnight in Dublin, (there are two of us) as it's a bit of a home from home,, a trip down memory lane. Nothing,, it works for me. It's not broken,, no need to fix it.

Facilities are fairly basic, but clean and tidy, which is the most important thing. Can't say what the breakfast was like, as we didn't get up in time to have it! We had a sea view. We had room on ground floor, so we had to draw our curtains (there were no nets), as people were constantly walking past and looking in.

The staff were friendly especially the night porter. I was given a room in the 'old wing'. The wifi was unusable, the room took a long time to heat up. On the 4th night of my stay there was a lot of noise from the room accross the hall....after complaining the friendly night porter moved me to the 'new wing'. The rooms were much much nicer, it was quiet and the wifi worked! I think if I had been checked into the new wing from the first night I would be a repeat customer to this hotel. I would not stay again at this hotel..My advice is this, if you do stay in this hotel insist to stay in the new wing.

We found it a clean hotel with a warm welcome on arrival. Reception staff friendly through out our stay The room was freezing. No wifi connection in rooms only in public area which was a glazed hallway - very cold in february....we couldnt get a table in the dining area as the tables had reserved signs on them. Then we went into the bar and the tables were reserved there also - it turned out the tables in the dining room were reserved for a hen party and then they would go in to the bar two hours later and sit at the tables which were reserved there also. We had to drive 20 minutes to the next avaliable place to eat. Then the next nite we got a table but there was no kids menu, then after dinner they wouldnt serve our 3yr old daughter ice cream as the chef had left 10 minutes before ! football screens hanging down from the ceilings everywhere and shouting and roaring from the punters...we never had such a bad experience in our lives an we would average 10 weekend breaks every year.. We are hard to please but it just wasnt 'meant to be' at this hotel for us which was a shame

Great value, was a bit concerned with previous reports of the night club noise but we had a good sized room at the other end of the building, comfortable and warm. Not really in Portmarnock, but it would be a pleasant walk to there or Malahide some other time of year - but far too cold at this time.

Staff were efficent, pleasant and helpful. Room service was adequate and the room was clean and comfortable We have stayed here several times, and feel the hotel is becoming a little run down in decor and maintenance. We had a problem with the Bar/Grill service which was happily resolved and we will return and would recommend the hotel
