Wild Honey Inn  

The Wild Honey Inn was a lovely place to relax and enjoy the scenery in Co. Clare. I really enjoyed our two nights there. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. I thought the dinner setting was great, a nice and relaxed informal dining, just what you want when you are away on a weekend break. The food was superb, the Eton Mess for dessert was to die for and breakfast each morning was amazing. The room we had was gorgeous with two windows, very spacious and lovely ensuite.

I felt that the checking in was a bit of a problem we waited for quite a while until we then went into the bar to get someone to check us in. There are also 3 entrances which is a bit confusing. Maybe a sign over the accommodation door might help. I was also locked out one morning when I went for a jog, I had left my key with one of the staff as I didn't want to carry it. It took forever to get back in which was annoying. I think the only other thing that could be added is tea making facilities in the room that would be a nice touch.

The hotal was launcged in the middle of a recession in a remote part of County Clare. It is thriving because of the superb food, and it attracts diners from all over the region, even during the Winter months when driving conditions can be difficult. Our good opinion of the hotel was confirmed during our recent stay for the Merriman Festival. They were very busy, yet the standard of the food was excellent. Long life to Aidan and Kate!

Everything ! Food was delicious. Room and beds were very comfortable. Loved the resident's Lounge -lovely cosy couches and lots of books and magazines to browze through. An oasis of calm. Kate was so helpful, generously advising activities and providing brochures and maps. A most hospitable and friendly place to stay. A true gem.

The highlight was the food - excellent crab cocktail with gazpacho topping - original and delicious. Breakfast was also special - fresh strawberries and a delicious Arnold Bennet omelette. Excellent value for money.

Aiden and Kate put their heart and souls into their business and it shows. Great food and service are backed up by a real engagement with their guests and their needs. Well be back again and again because of that level of attention,

Myself and my girlfriend really enjoyed our stay here. The staff were nice and pleasant, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and it was at a very reasonable price. I would recommend a stay here.

Took a while to work the shower. All in all though nothing really worth mentioning, it was a very nice place to stay.

The reception was welcoming, the food was fantastic - a feast for any true lover of good food and the atmosphere was lovely. The personal touch and friendliness of the owners was what really made the stay differ to so many places. They show that they really care about their business, which is unfortunately missing from so much of the hospitality trade these days. Would highly recommend Wild honey for food and comfort for couples of any age.

Excellent food - unfortunately we did not try the desserts, starter+main course was enough for us, even after a day of hiking. plenty of good suggestions for day trips.

The friendliness of the staff and lady owner. Food was very good and wines excellent value.Breakfast was 1st class.The inn had a comfortable ambience which enabled us to relax after a long journey.

The trek to our room on the top floor would take a bit of effort for older visitors.

Beautiful rooms in remodeled hotel. Great gourmet meals in restaurant. Good base for hiking Burren, sightseeing Clare. Delightful staff, excellent value for competitive rates

We stayed here for the Sunday night of the June holiday weekend. The place was extremely busy when we arrived, the restaurant was packed,a good sign. Rooms are very comfortable and clean. Quiet at night time. Lovely outside garden area.

I would have liked to have tea/coffee facilities in the room - my only complaint.

Very friendly welcome with tea in the lounge. Double aspect view over countryside from bedroom. Just a short walk from Lisdoonvarna centre, so very peaceful at night. Food was excellent and the best we had during our 2 weeks in Ireland.

Really lovely rooms, nicely furnished. Food was fantastic. Will be back for a long weekend soon with friends.

We liked the welcome we received. We were offered refreshments when we arrived. Room was cosy and warm. We felt very relaxed in the restaurant. Service was excellent and the food was memorable. Hope to go back sometime in the future.

A warm and friendly welcome from the owner. Artistically furnished bed room, good food, homely residents lounge, great evening menu, eclectic background music in restaurant, superbly prepared food, a very well situated inn, chef prepared breakfast menu, beautiful old building, tea or coffee supplied on request, tourist advice if needed, best chef award. We want to come back! Highly Recommended.

Bar food not as good as I expected fom reviews- also not great selection for vegetarians. Noise from room upstairs early morning - may need to sound-proof rooms below
