I recently spent three nights at the Windsor Inn and must admit that I cannot add much more to what has already been posted. However, I will share some oddities I encountered. I book through a reputable on-line booking site, but was told when I arrived that the hotel was under new management and lot was being changed. There was to be no breakfast included. I was discount 50 euros for this, so my room was now averaging 33 euros/night. Ok, I thought. But then James told me the card machine was down and that I would have to pay in cash--which I grudgingly did, making certain to get a receipt. &Quot; You're at the top, and, I am sorry, there's no lift." So, I hiked it. The room was spacious and relatively bright, but the window didn't open all the way. There was a TV and an en suite bathroom. The towels and bed linen were clean, but were never changed the three nights I was there. The carpet was a bit iffy, but I brought a pair of "hotel" socks along. There was only one workable electric socket, so to charge the cell phone or laptop, I had to unplug the TV. And, later, in the bar, I had to ask James for a glass for the room. And, only a half roll to toilet paper was available. I had been in worse places and have been in much better. What the Windsor has going for it, which others have written about, is it's proximity to Cork's bustling city center. Across O'Connell Bridge is the Parnell Square Bus Station, where busses to Kinsale and Cobh can easily be had. I hope James was correct about the new management as this place could be quite good if certain fundamental emanated were seen to. And if the credit card machine worked.
Dirty Room/Bed, nowhere to put clothes, no hot water, no heating, rubbish outside/fire risk, breakfast consisted of cold coffee and you couldn't see what cereals etc were there because of poor lighting! Apparently the place had been shut down 2 weeks before we arrived!! we only stayed 1 night got our money back for other 2 nights.
Nothing! I love Cork, but hated the hotel!!!
On arrival-CLEANING-my money!!!!Dirty toilets, room, carpet...There is no wardrobe in the room!Wifi does not work!Room was cold no heating!!Poor breakfast!! It was a big disappointment!
location was perfect
there was no heating no hot water .to top it all no cooked breakfast we had to ask for my money back and book in another hotel .i will not be staying here again.camping would be a luxury compared to this hotel
So dirty!!! No wi-fi in the bedroom.
Staff were very friendly. Location was great.
location and the staff
Friendly staff Good breakfast in the bar below Good location, within walking distance from the main streets
The house is old, has not been renovated for few dosens of years, everything terribly smells with spilled beer, the room was cold. There is the bar downstairs where music played until late, kids could not sleep.
Well, on arrival the credit card machine was out of order, so had to get cash, the bar as advertised was closed, there was no food available as advertised, there was no heating on in rooms and also the hotel advertised a no smoking policy yet the room stank of stail cigarettes, they also advertised breakfast and when we requested it was told we paid for what we got, a very bad stay in a supposed hotel....
Friendly helpful staff the only thing was the shower was cold:(
It was dirty, sheets had hairs on them, room had not been cleaned, smelt like vomit and cigarettes which had transferred into our whole bag of clothes which we had to get washed, shower barely worked, room was freezing with heater on. Breakfast was stale bread which had been out all night in bar. It was the worst place I have ever stayed in my life.
Location, breakfast and room it's ok.
Asked for a third towel (we booked a triple room) and they never give it. Not a big deal but something you may pay attention of. As well, the toilet door has a window and if you want privacy while you take a shower it's something that you won't have with it.
+ friendly staff + low price + good breakfast
- very bad room condition; many broken things (e.g. water was dropping out of the toilet) - bad smell - broken windows --> it was pretty stormy outside and the windows were hitting the frame during the night --> very loud!!! - price is low, but it´s not nice at all!
it was a good location thats it
the place was very dirty their was a dog in the bar were they sever food ,the base of the bed was broke it was like their was lats missing ,carpet in the room was like a mat you would have at your front door, the price was not good considering you can book a 4 star hotel 12 doors up the road for 10 euro more
loved the room and the bar :)
little bit of door banging and lack of towels .. had a treble room yet only 2 towels provided
