Great breakfasts Garden outlook
Closeness of shower curtain in bathtub made showering a bit "clingy"
Staff are welcoming, courteous and helpful. This is not just a beautiful old house, but is also the family home, filled with personal effects, books and pictures, so the atmosphere is warm and intimate. The restaurant food is fantastic.
Style, comfort, beautiful grounds, lovely atmosphere. Delicious 3 course dinner and breakfast good as well. Staff very friendly and professional
Very friendly helpful staff. Quiet off the road area with good scenery. Good breakfast with good choices.
Our second visit here we were disappointed with the restaurant meal on Monday evening, definitely not to the same standard on our previous visit. However this would not stop us from returning.
Very relaxed atmosphere with attentive staff in a lovely authentic Donegal location.
Stay too short!
Comfort, dinner, breakfast all first class..staff very friendly..
Garden view. Spacious bedrooms. Wet room in one of the bathrooms.
Heavy duvets and tired decor, no key to open one of the rooms patio doors.
Garden, food , staff, surroundings
The house and adjacent hotel are very warm and welcoming as is the staff. The dinner Sat. night was absolutely superb! The pub off the lobby was packed with guests and locals yet the room we stayed in was quiet. On Sunday, the chef was off and the food barely okay. Close to charming Ardara and Slieve League. Very nice al in all. Also eat at Nancy's in town.
No Wi-Fi in adjacent buildings though they said they just had it fixed. Also, the should check their signs directing one to Woodhill House. We went way out of our way before we found someone to ask how to get to the hotel.
Large spacious room with character added by big rustic beam in ceiling. Private balcony with beautiful garden and countryside views. Excellent food served by friendly and courteous staff. Proximity to ocean.
Great location with lovely views of the hills. Charming grounds and the old house was very atmospheric.
Our shower rod was installed too close to wall which made it difficult to have a shower as the shower curtain wrapped around you The toilet in the main house didn't work when my girlfriend used it.
No wifi in rooms, tv old and useless, no laundry access.
Proportions of bedroom and view from window
Problems with shower pull switch
view from bedroom is marvellous excellent breakfast
Loved the views from my room, lying in the bed seeing beautiful countryside. Appreciated the flexibility of providing vegetarian meals at short notice
Price €110 was too dear
Wonderful nostalgic place, excellent restaurant and staff, great room with scenic view.
Low pressure in the shower. Other than that we had a great stay.
Peaceful setting, lovely rooms with outside seating area. Wonderful food. Friendly and helpful.
The great and friendly hospitality of the hosts and the character of the property. Nothing was too much trouble. We stayed in the coach house away from the main house on the ground floor and the facilities were great with a spacious room and bathroom. If you stay on the upper floor you have a balcony and view of the beautiful gardens. We also ate at Woodhill and the food was superb. The restaurant caters of the public in addition to guests, so book as it can get crowded at weekends! Very friendly waitresses.
Well .... not to be picky ... but the tv was of the old kind and small and we had to go to the house for wifi. But both no problem, after all who goes on holiday to watch tv and answer emails! Ambience is the thing and this house had oodles. Knowing our hosts, I should think the tv is on the list for replacement soon anyway.
Woodhill house is a wee gem of a find.....perfect
Very spacious and hospitality was excellent
Couldn't connect to wifi
An excellent base from which to see the sights of County Donegal. John is an excellent host. We stayed for B+B only but the restaurant has an excellent reputation locally amongst the people to whom we spoke, but is of a quality and type more suited to special occasions. When we were there a Birthday aperty on the Saturday was well attended, and even staff at a nearby hotel told ujs that they go there for Xmas and Bisthday celebrations
Woodhill House is an old property, and some of the rooms are tired and in need of renovation, with peeling wallpapr and evidence of damp. John, however was very quick to put us somewhere more appropriate. After the birthday party ended at about 11pm, an impromptu folk session started in the bar. As there are no doors to the bar it communicates with the hall and landing, Woodhill Hous is exactly that, a house, so the music althoiugh not loud was imposible to ignore or sleep through. As Music is endemic to the Irish wew were happy to accept it, but by 1pm I had to get up and ask for it to cease, which it did without rancour. If you love a good sing song you'll love this. If not you may not, but I would expect this only to be a feature of a Saturday night, with the locals gathering to socialise. If there were doors to close to limit the sound to the bar area it wouldn't be a problem.
location, the room and surroundings breakfast
wi fi did not really work in the room we had to go to the main house
