National Hotel is in one of Jerusalem's busiest shopping districts, a 5 minute drive from Herod's Gate, an entrance into Jerusalem's Old City. Parking and Wi-Fi are both free.
Score from 709 reviews Very good

Like the location, the typical Arabic atmosphere. Nice breakfast, the suite was very nice, charming place.
little bit outdated, wild garden and the carpet has to be cleaned.
The hotel is slightly worn, but a lot of character, and the location is excellent--right opposite the American Colony, and a short walk to Damascus Gate. I should note also that the room resembled more a suite, with a living room and bedroom! We also had a nice balcony. The staff is super friendly and proved quite helpful whenever we needed help with something.
Room was spacious, comfortable.
Abraham the manager is very nice and helpful. All staff was very kind.
The rooms and all public areas not very clean, the internet almost inexistent. The breakfast poor, the tables with ants, let's say it is not very good value for money.
Very good cost-to-position ratio. It's difficult to find competing alternatives to a mean cost per person of 25-30 $ per day for a hotel 10 min of walking outside Old Jerusalem.
Rooms are not perfect
Big rooms, nice furniture and decorations
staff was rude and unhelpful. Breakfast was so so
Beutifull place..only 20 minuts walk to alaqsa mosque. Alltypes food available including shawarma 24 hrs 2 mintsfrom hotel.
Breakfast should be improved
We found much for which to commend the Addar during our recent stay, but our highest praise must be for the excellent host of the breakfast. Mahmoud works hard to attend the food and the room for the comfort and accommodation of the guests. Our conversations with him were a delight, and we looked forward each day to seeing this personable, warm, and kind man who became our friend. He also gave us excellent advice regarding transportation and procedure for our visit to Jerusalem. His hard work and friendly demeanor are assets to this hotel. The breakfast was excellent in variety, quality, and qnairobiuantity, and featured eastern items. The hotel was apparently an older one, but was well maintained and staffed. The staff was friendly and helpful. Ours was a suite including a kitchenette, sitting room, bedroom and bath. They were clean and well furnished. On balance, this hotel is a very good value for the price.
If there were any deficiencies, they seemed minor. They might include: Wi-fi seemed a bit weak/slow at times, but generally functioned pretty well. A/C just a little weak, but adequate.
Staff is very helpful. Mahmoud in the Dining Room giving excellent service
Location, staff, suite
Breackfast, no cable TV in room.
Very spacious suites, at a great price. Excellent location near the light train.
Maintenance could be improved a bit.
good location, spacious apartment, effective a/c, nice breakfast
need some renovation and attention to design details; staff was very OK except one impolite man in reception (main manager?)
2 really big rooms, quite good location, good staff, wifi,
Breakfast very average
We had been staying just for 1 day but it was wonderful! 2 really big rooms, quite good location (it's about 15 minutes by foot to the Old city). We had the superior suite for the reasonable price (it was the action on booking.com) . I can recommend this hotel.
There weren't jacuzzi but it wasn't important for us
My employee spent one night at the Adaar Hotel. She is a female and stayed there by herself. I had booked her a late check in and she arrived at about 23:30 after completing her business presentation. She was asked by the locals at the check-in if she was by herself and made to feel very uncomfortable. Soon after entering her room, there was a knock on the door (around 23:45) - she called reception as she was petrified, they claimed it was someone with "something" they wanted to show her as she may have left it downstairs. They couldnt tell her what it was. My employee felt threatened and the hotels behavior was totally inappropriate. My employee was very nervous and barely slept. The next morning at breakfast - again she was asked if she was alone. I went to the hotel the next day to complain. The person at the reception assured me that the person who knocked on the door was from a "good family" and there was no malicious intent. When confronting with the question - why at 23:45 and not the next morning - he simply apologized for what happened.
Reasonable decor, great location for the old city.
The check out staff tried to get me to pay for 2 rooms through a website error (which booking.com were great in sorting out) but nonetheless they still tried to get me to pay for two rooms for 1 night!
The location is the only strong point of the hotel.
The staff I encountered were not particularly helpful or even pleasant in communication. Although the hotel was apparently renovated a few years ago, it was badly done.. and in what appears to be in the cheapest possible way. Breakfast was extremely poor - someone should take the managers to somewhere like the Azzahra hotel or the YMCA to illustrate what can be done. It's a huge pity that this hotel - which is in a nice building (although decor is terrible) and with a great garden, and opposite a Jerusalem icon (American Colony) cannot make make themselves a pleasant place to stay.. and take advantage of their potential strengths.
Great staff and location.
Everything, other than the staff and location. Pictures on Booking.com are a misrepresentation; nothing there resembled the photos. Dust and bugs prevalent in every corner of every room. Dirty lobby and lobby bathroom (cockroaches spotted repeatedly). Non-functioning door knobs (which led to us being locked out of our room, which was unlocked). Other problems (which was outlined in our complaint to Addar and through Booking.com) led to an overall poor stay for us while on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Jerusalem. We have already submitted an e-mail to Booking.com for our refund, which the Addar staff repeatedly told us is the only avenue to have it processed.
price and value. significant discount via booking.com 10 mins. walk to damascus gate. close to old city. friendly staff willing to accommodate. i stayed one day at the beginning of my 5 day stay, requested to stay for the rest of the time. fully booked and booked again for another two days at the end of my stay. when i returned, staff recognized me from first day, i mentioned the room class for price and they upgraded me to room with full living room! room 22 wonderful. with living room, small kitchennette, king-sized bed. felt very welcome. front desk staff very helpful with questions. nice hot showers. highly recommended!
no problems to report of...
Reasonable price for spacious apartment with kitchenette; helpful staff, very nice baby cot for our child ;)
very slow wi-fi connection at peak times; room often stinky from smoking; difficulties with parking at St George street - got 100 ILS penalty for wrong parking (hotel does not offer his own parking as promised)
Large sitting room in suite and the settee was comfortable.
The hotel needs full renovation. For example the bathroom was old; cracked marble floor, cracked toilet seat and mould all around the bathtiles. We booked the room with the express intention to have a spa in the room as advertised in Booking.com. However on arrival we were told that there were no rooms with a Spa! To add insult to injury when we showed the reception clerk the copy of the booking he dismissed it with a comment to the effect 'what do they know'! Another more minor issue was our request for additional pillows. We are still waiting for them. A final minor issue is the fact that the hotel did not have double quilts for double beds. We were given 2 single quilts for a double bed!
Location quite near to the Old town, but not a nice neighborhood
Quite dirty, bad and unhelpful staff, couldnt touch a breakfast, really poor quality of food
pretty OK location and friendly stuff
almost all is old and dirty
Very good position - 5 minutes walk from the Old City and opposite the luxury of the American Colony Hotel, at a fraction of the price and the opportunity of a good food and alcohol as the Addar Hotel is dry & has no restaurant except for the breakfast. Suites come with a kitchenette, sitting room and balcony, albeit the latter with no chairs !
Shabby and run down but at the price bearable. Mini bar price of water very expensive, suggest popping up the road to buy. A neglected garden which is a great shame as pleasant to be able to sit outside. Bad WiFi connection.
