Location and staff
Area is a bit rough
Everything about this hotel was excellent. The location, cleanliness, food, size of rooms, but above all else, the first class customer service from all the brilliant staff. Very professional and friendly. Thank you all for making our stay so special.
Mrs. Nirvana at the front desk made the place come alive from day one. From the beginning we felt like coming to family, and their way of understanding multi-cultural relationship was outstanding. Respekt, help, kindness and hospitality for guests was found here. Thank you. We will be back, God willing.
Nice staff, location very central, safe area, amazing breakfast
Nothing to say
The manageress was outstanding. She knew what we needed before we knew what we needed. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. A very good breakfast. The location was great!
The welcome, friendliness and help of the staff; comfortable and good sized rooms; the wonderful breakfast; the location. We have no complaints whatsover. This was our second stay at the hotel during our visit to Israel and Palestine, and this sums up our confidence in The National hotel. We would stay there again on during another visit to Jerusalem.
Nirvana is an exquisite desk
three tea 36 shekels
The hotel is in the center of the city, near to the main attractions. The bed was fantastic and also the food. We highly recommend it.
Good breakfast, comfortable double bed, close to old city wall.
Arabic part of the city, dirtiness around, noise heard from outside, was a bit cold in the room (february)..
Location and counter staff attitude
Disturbed by cleaning staff pretty early even before going for breakfast
Really good Hotel - value for money ! Nice location, close to Old city as well as downtown ! Very polite stuff.
Situated in the business area of east Jerusalem with an overview of the historic Jerusalem walls and less than 200 m to Rockefeller museum. Breakfast buffet on the upper floor adds to the hotel,s charm.
My brother and I have travelled ever since we were babies, and don't remember ever being blessed with such sweet staff. All the other reviews raving about the staff are right! They are so kind and go the extra mile. The location is excellent, too... About a five minutes' walk to Herod's Gate, we routinely walked from the hotel to the Old City and the Mount of Olives. Comfort-wise, we had everything we needed... We recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to stay near the Old City.
Kind staff at the reception. One of the waitresses (with blond-dyed hair) at the breakfast room was extremely rude. She shouldn't be working in a hotel with that kind of attitude. Asking her to serve you was like asking her for a favour. Israel is expensive but this hotel is definitely not a four star one. It's old and overpriced.
nothing was to much to make our stay comfortable Location was good for sites
This is a very good hotel: not five-star, but definitely not a dump. Clean, modern rooms. The restaurant is pretty good, with a delicious complimentary breakfast. Great location!--an easy walk to either Herod's or Damascus Gates. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Off-street parking, which is gated at night.
Not much. The showers/tubs could use an upgrade, I suppose, as they were old and a bit scratched; plus, the swinging glass door doesn't keep water from getting all over the floor.
Super friendly staff
The bed could be more comfy. I recommend to change matresses
Special thanks to Nirvana, she helped us so much with transport
Everything was ok
Only the location of hotel, even the environment around him unclean.
During the two weeks of traveling to Israel areas, were Not the most friendly experience here. Except for the lady at the reception desk. this hotels in other parts of the same price Israel provide a much better service and environment. The Mohamed reception told me and my wife with a rude attitude clearly not the way to treat customers. He needs to learn how to say and do to the customer.
Everything inside the hotel was good, helpful staff, nice rooms, small perks. Also very close to the Old City
The district around has Middle Eastern style so somebody might find it lovely, somebody my find it not so good.
Short distance and easy walking to old town. Very friendly staff helps against the weaknesses.
"Still on the way" to an international Standard, the Hotel has no alcohol license.
I really liked the friendly and hospitable atmosphere in this hotel. The food was very goodand the location excellent.
We stayed at the National for Christmas Eve, 2014. Our room was clean, spacious, and nicely furnished, including a large and comfortable bed. A shared balcony offered a pleasant outdoor seating area and a partial view of the city. The location is fantastic—very quiet at night, but easy walking distance to the Old City. The breakfast buffet was quite good, with a large selection of Middle Eastern offerings and a made-to-order omelet station. Breakfast is served in a pleasant, sunny dining area on the fourth floor, with a panoramic view of the city. I would recommend the National for these qualities alone, but there is more: the crown jewel of the National is the excellent service provided by Nirvana, the desk clerk, and the rest of the staff. I have never received a warmer welcome at any other hotel—really. If you are planning a visit to Jerusalem, you should stay here, if just to experience the hospitality! Finally, a word about the neighborhood: a few reviewers mentioned not feeling safe on the street, or that the neighborhood is dirty and shuts down at night. That was not my experience at all. Yes, you can see a few pieces of trash in the street, but no more than you see in large cities anywhere. The neighborhood is bustling with shops and shoppers, and while some stores do close in the evening, many others stay open. I walked several blocks after dark to get ice cream at a shop located between the National and the Old City; there were still lots of people out on the street, and I felt totally safe. Overall impression: highly recommended as a base from which to explore the Old City.
nice staff, clean hotel, good value for your money.
location, location, location. You do not want to be in East Jerusalem unless you visiting East Jerusalem. We did not feel secure there, on the streets, especially at night. We would not repeat this again.
Everything was perfect. Good staff, good location to visit Old Town, good, but slightly dark room
