Water pressure was low in bathroom after complain was lodge nothing done...
The location as stated earlier is very very central to those who wish to make travels to Garden Tomb, Wall, Mt of Olives, Gethsemane, Old City Tour, Markets etc. Also the easy availability of fruits, bakeries, groceries just downstairs was very convenient. The staff of course were very helpful and wanted to do their best to make our stay enjoyable and the rates for tour organised by them was good. The free wifi for communication was also very welcomed. Trams, taxis and vans just outside nearby.Thank you Ali and Mahmoud and your team. There has been a great improvement from my last trip there in 2012.
Just some of the rooms and toilets could be a bit more spacious and allow more room to move about. otherwise these were minor issues and overall the place was good.
Location is really good - 2 minutes to the old city and ~10 minutes to city centre. Good tip - if you want good dinner, just around the corner you can find 'City Cafe' - food is tasty and prices acceptable. Avalable free water.
Before pay for the room, check if price is the same as price you really need to pay ($,€ to shekhels). Breakfest doesn't change - they give you one plate with bread, tomatoes, cucambers, cottage cheese and humus. There is free wifi but most of the time it's not working. Rooms are very small (we were three persons in one room and there were no place to turn around) and dirty, especially bathrooms - there were cockroaches, a little space, and no hot water. The area around the hostel is dirty and noisy because all street is like a market - all around food and vegetable shops.
Location overlooking Damascus gate . Proximity to Old Jerusalem and local shopping. Transport hub. Breakfast OK, but not available before 8 a.m.
Very Shabby. Unclean. Very rude behaviour of Manager/Owner. Tiny rooms. Misleading website picture [equal to cheating]
architecture inside of a house
rooms, bathroom, dirty
Staff were helpful; especially the proprietor Alex. They gave good advice and made reliable arrangements. We felt at home.
Palm does not seem to distinguish between services for hotel guests vs. for hostel guests. For example, some servicing of our rooms would have been good (there was zero cleaning, emptying of rubbish, etc.) This is acceptable for a hostel, but for a hotel?
Location, Location is everything. If you go out all day long and don't return until late why pay 100's for nothing. It is great for 1 or 2 nights just to be close if you are adventurous and love people. We loved meeting the people of the nations staying there. The staff was helpful and always available.
Cleanliness is not a priority. So if you are not use to traveling around the world then go pay 3 times more one block over. Also don't come in late at night it is very busy and a little over whelming with parking and check ins...so just be in by 5!
The location was excellent, right in front of the Damascus Gate of the old city. In addition, the breakfast was very good and the air conditioning worked great.
The wifi didn't work well in the evenings. The bathroom was too small.
close to damascus gate
We booked the hotel as last minute, when other reservation was canceled,we arrived shortly afterwards to this dirty place to find out that there is no room and for 230 USD we can sleep on the coach in common area, or have a room for 300USD without window or bathroom, and if we want an upgrade it will cost more.... we left 2 days afterwards we were informed by booking com, that they want to charge us 230 usd for non show up! Disgraceful!
The location was 100% perfect! The breakfast was awesome. The eggs were perfectly hard boiled.
The wifi was horrible and didn't not exist in the room.
Being right by the Damascus gate was pretty great and the staff was helpful.
I realize Jerusalem is expensive and this place is just about the cheapest one can get, but I'd recommend spending a few bucks/shekels more for a cleaner and more orderly place.
Breakfast was good
- We were told when we arrived that the private 3 bed room I'd booked was not available so we would have to stay in a dorm room. Not ideal preparation for the marathon we were running the next day. - General cleanliness of the entire hostel was poor. Damp mattresses, damp pillows and damp sheets. - Despite Damascus gate being central and good location, the hostel is located on the main road meaning it is noisy 24/7. - I can safely say that despite being cheap, your money will go far further in other hostels in Jerusalem as we found out
Location Breakfast Staff
Toilet was ugly, dirty, dark and stinking of mildew. The area is to noise.
Very good location, near the old city.
Unclean, bathroom in very poor condition, poor breakfast. You cannot have your poor breakfast at 7 am if you need to go early. Some rooms do not have an exterior window. They have some ugly textiles instead of towels. No shampoo in the bathroom. Very small place, good just for sleeping.
It was dirty, dark and expensive. Quite bad experience.
Very nice location (in the Ha'Navim market): a lot of mess and colours.
The non transparency of the owner on the prices and the Exchange rates. We asked for two rooms and they wanted to give us one room with 3 beds and an additional one that I did not understand where they wanted to put, since the room was very small. The towel provided were dirty (the mine full of hair). The hot water sometimes was lacking. Very poor breakfast.
The location is a plus to visit the old city and the surrounding area
The inconsistency with the hotel rate - based on internet booking I was supposedly to be paid 6 nights for USD 450, which average about USD 75/night, and as I have to stay 1 more night, it was charged USD168 (based on 3.4/rate).
Some rooms are without window; rooms are smoll, noisy
