Dan Jerusalem Hotel  

I just like the hotel, its design, staff and location. I find the Dan hotels are to my liking in all these respects. I was happy to see that since my last visit and previous comments coffee making facilities now appear in each room.

The internet facilities are lousy and the price is completely unjustified. I believe this should and can be a free facility and where there is a choice of comparable I will always go to those that do so. Here the internet facility is sourced out which makes it worse. This is the second time I couldn't get on the internet while on a visit. I spent one and a half hour talking to the internet people. Twice a guy said he would phone back in ten minutes and when I called back half an hour later found he had forgotten. The second guy I spoke the third time found there was a fault on the floor. All I got was a refund for the day but no compensation for the time lost. The service is pathetic and at $20 a day - dau light robbery.

The rooms were clean and comfortable. The breakfast was amazing.

They claim it is near the Old City. That is a relative term. It is 5km from the Old City, which is closer than Tel Aviv, but not at all "close". They allow you to pay extra to reserve a "Deluxe" room with a balcony view of the Old City... our balcony had a giant fig tree and cedar directly in front of it. When we complained the next morning (we checked in very late [11pm]) they basically told us tough luck since we didn't complain the night before. Even had the view not been obstructed, there is still no good view of the Old City from this hotel.

Staff was very friendly and very willing to help. They went out of their way to solve problems and when I arrived early 3:30 a m let me check in for the next day. Location was just a short walk to the tram stop.When I first spoke to the concierge and told him I arrived at 3:30, he immediatly knew my name. Very professional did not push tours or places to eat. I was there five days and he said don't push the tours do two but every other day. Security staff present and professional. Shops on site, great hotel. Great view of the city and small grocery store a short distance. I thought overall a great hotel, with good staff, great view of the city. Overall I would stay at the Dan again with no problems and would recommend the hotel if staying in Jerusalem.

Part I stayed in was the older rooms. Very clean, but showed age. I got a good price and tour groups stay at the hotel in the same rooms. These rooms see a lot of people I am sure people staying in the newer rooms have more updated rooms and pay a much higher price.

The view from our room was quite spectacular. The buffet breakfast had a great choice and was very good. The parking was convenient. Staff was very helpful.

There could have been more shuttles to the city.

The comment on Booking.com is incorrect, this hotel is very dirty and I will not recommend anyone to stay here. Also room service stops at 10:30pm, this is rediculous at a luxury hotel.

The Dan Jerusalem was a much better value than comparable hotels in the city, perhaps due to its relatively out-of-the-way location on French Hill, next to Hadassah Har HaTzofim. It is an elegant hotel, and the spa facilities were very clean and pleasant. The lobby and lounge were very nice.

The air in the hotel is canned, it seems to be recirculated through a ventilation system that is not properly cleaned, and so the air was stuffy and hard to breathe. We had trouble spending time in our hotel room for that reason, and this is something that really needs to be improved.

The staff did try and sort out our problems as best they could! Breakfast was good.

The fact that we had such a short stay and we spent the majority of our first day changing rooms four times especially as neither of us had been well. We were freezing cold at night in the final room as well.

The location is great, and they have somewhat renovated this hotel and getting their act together, this used to be a great hotel years ago when it was run by the Hyatt

The room cleaning staff didn't do a great job.

There food was excellent

The hotel staff are unfriendly the never smile. The room is not very clean and the don't empty the garbage everyday and if you need shampoo or towels its take to long for them to deliver.

Everything was very fine in the hotel, however not very close to the old city, restaurants nor shopping area. Many thanks to a great concierge who helped us a lot with our visiting trips, a guide, good restaurants etc..

I liked the location. The girl on check in was very friendly and welcoming. I really liked the size of room and the two very large single beds were great. The breakfast buffet was excellent and the staff delightful. Also the staff at the Spa were lovely,

1. The cleanliness of the room. It was not serviced well at all. After I would come back from a day out, the bed would be made but the sheets were not changed and the blanket was all messy. Also they gave us the wrong towels. The people at the front desk were so rude, except for the girl who checked us in. I know that the customer service is Israel is really lacking, but as someone who works in a 5 star hotel, its really appalling that they have their cell phones with them at the desk, texting and talking to each other before they serve guests.

Non-smoking policy is not enforced in non-smooking rooms
