Beautiful setting and public spaces.

Too many things n the rooms just didn't work-unacceptable for the rates they charge. Hot wate took 5mins to get warm, hair dryer was touch & go, not sure if bath tub water ever got hot. Felt like it was trading on its reputation. Sort out your facilities!

there was a strange unlocatable faint noise in room 311 similar to carpentry noises(muffled bang dede bang) that went from midday till 8pm on the 3 days we were there we were offered another room (but not as good) so chose to put up with the noise (staff couldn't identify where it was coming from but it wasn't there in the morning nor at night? just through the afternoon very odd

Very characterful, full of history and individual. Excellent staff and service, food and swimming pool. Good value for the quality. Altogether a superb hotel

The beauty of the hotel and the quality of the staff

The hotel was beautiful. The staff could not have been friendlier or more professional. The atmosphere was one of relaxed luxury. The food in the restaurant was delicious.

Tiny details - the tap in the bath ran very slowly indeed. The hairdryer was unreliable though we could almost always get it going in the end.

The building was stunning and beautiful. It really gave an air of Edwardian luxury. The service was excellent.

Your Dining room manager.....excellent manners and demands of his workers as well. He is a extreme value to the Am Colony Hotel. He took his time to show me around and the various amendies at hand along with running a wonderful dining room. This is the type of person that should own a hotel. Please forgive me for not gaining his name in my very tired mind. The Trip back to Chicago was a bit much for me. Ron Baade

I agree, here we find history and atmosphere in one of the most pleasant and exclusive hotels i the Middle East. Staff extremely friendly and professional. To stay here a couple of days in low-season, Januari, is a epicurean experience!

Almost everything....champagne on arrival, the historic place, the way it has been beautifully retained, wonderful bar & restaurant & despite its age, all the conveniences one expects from a modern hotel.

The wifi was intermittent, the location means a bit of a walk to anywhere.

The hotel itself: design of the building and rooms. Good location - close to the old city. Nice breakfast, room service and the bar. Friendly staff. Value for money.

The hotel doesn't trust the guests regarding the payment. Upon arrival the receptionist not only got the credit card for guarantee but blocked the full amount for the room plus usd400 at my bank account. When we left the hotel they got the payment for the room plus bar charges. Now I have to wait a month when my bank unblock the fisrt amount. The room charge is $300 per night. So the amount for 7 nights plus $400 is quite big. Also the hotel doesn't accept MasterCard.

Atmosphere, dinning, location

It was a beautiful hotel, - loads of character. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The restuarant was great - and the courtyard it was situated in was fabulous. The garden bar (evening) was also great for an evening snack or drink. Somewhat expensive, but was so good that the expense didnt matter.

Perhaps a little off the beaten track for going out in the evening. However this is overcome by using the tram - quite near the hotel - to go right through the city.
