The staff were excellent, the ambience perfect and the courtyard restaurant the best place to eat and sit about

Pool might have been open regardless of the weather.

Hotel stuff at reception was not nice,they looked annoyed.They also blocked +100 $ with no explanations to us

Absolutely everything was wonderful. This hotel was a complete oasis in East Jerusalem. Incredibly relaxing at the end of a challenging week.

Good atmosphere, Excellent and courteous staff, Good choices to eat and good food presentation and taste. Rooms were well and appropriately furnished. A god place to stay

It was strange that such a really good hotel provided such poor deserts.i.e. the Calvados Souffle? The souffle was a of dry sponge with a scoop of ice cream on top. The Creme Brulee was ordinary- pre-prepared and cold. This is meant as a constructive critique and would in no way interfere with a recommendation to a friend Michael Hannan

Beautiful building, rooms, and very special atmosphere

Showers are not suitable for tall people!

My hotel room was inn the old section...it was charming, but not posh by any means.

Whilst the hotel was very good we were disappointed by dinner in the courtyard restaurant – wonderful location but food and service was poor.

The hotel was an oasis of calm in a troubled city. It had a great cosmopolitan aura with a huge history and this lives on in the large number of business people and diplomats who use the hotel as well as the large number of travellers who are visiting Jerusalem and the Holy Land. The calm in the courtyard was astonishing and the total calm, tolerance and well-being could not be better epitomised than by the way the staff treat the large numbers of birds that live in the courtyard.

The American Colony hotel is essential to any itinerary of a visitor to Israel. Located on the "seam line" , this oasis of peace and beauty demonstrates how an ideal can actually be achieved. Breakfast or afternoon tea in the courtyard, barbeque in the gardens, or a day by the pool, can restore one's soul. The rooms are spacious and well maintained; simply but adequate furnishings.The staff are courteous, helpful and multilingual, The cuisine is not as outstanding as it was years ago. The best food is now served in the barbeque garden. Don't miss the wonderful bookshop and antique store.

The gardens were beautiful. Loved the architecture and history. It was like an oasis in the desert.

We actually decided to upgrade our room to a suite. Our room faced the muslim prayer tower. I did not mind hearing this throughout the day, but at 6 a.m. it was quite the wake-up call. Also, we read that the breakfasts here were out of this world, when in fact out of the 5 hotels we stayed in during our visit to Israel, it would probably be rated 2nd to last.
