lots of mosquitos even in AC.
Extremely quiet, you won`t hear any noises at all and good sized rooms. The hotel can get prepaid taxis for a reasonable price. Internet was fast.
Bring your mosquito net!: Our room was infested with mosquitoes. They must come in through the bathroom fan that isn`t equipped with a mosquito net at the back. Every time you open the bathroom door, more of the little bloodsuckers come into the room, hiding in dark corners until you go to bed. Otherwise it was clean enough if a bit dusty, breakfast was ok but very little selection and quite cold at 8:30am. Maybe because of the lack of guests. Getting hot water out of the shower was a challenge. Overall too expensive at AUD92 per night.
Good-sized room, helpful and very friendly staff, and an excellent Indian-style breakfast - so much nicer than the normal western-style buffet. Very well placed for Hanuyman's tomb, as well as the Kahn market. And there's an excellent restaurant about 150m from the hotel.
The nearest metro station is Kahn market, which is about a ten minute taxi/rickshaw ride away. And single-glazed windows mean you hear traffic, even if you have one of the 'quiet', side-facing rooms. Wifi seemed to come and go which was inconvenient seeing that I needed to book flights and hotels, though the staff kindly offered me the use of the office computer.
It is very slightly out of town, in a gated, quiet community and we were able to walk around the are without too much hassle. It's near the zoo and we could hear animal noises.
You have to get a taxi for a short ride into town but the payoff for staying somewhere quiet
Great location in South Delhi. Easy access to transport with outside with fair prices and good knowledge of places around Delhi. Room was very comfortable with very good facilities.
Being in South Delhi, it was a long trip to some areas east and north of Delhi - not close to airport or main railway stations. However, there was nothing not to like about this hotel. It was a bit pricey, but represented good value for money overall. I would stay there again.
Friendly helpful staff Comfortable room
Building was quite cold (Jan) but a heater was provided which helped
The reception desk checked us in right away when we arrived. Staff was very helpful and attentive.
There were no double beds, just 2 twins pushed together. Beds kept moving apart throughout the night. We had to request hot water to shower; otherwise it is cold. The food wasn't good. I recommend going out of the hotel to eat.
Free Wi fi
Poor breakfast. Hard to have hot water at shower.
Great location is New Delhi with easy access to southern sites. Very attentive staff, modern clean rooms and good included breakfast. Room service meals are tasty and a good value. Perfect Taxi Service, available outside the hotel, has knowledgeable and fairly priced drivers for tours in and outside Delhi. I highly recommend this hotel.
We requested a bigger room and we were kindly given one - thanks to the very nice, cheerful and helpful lady who was at the front desk. There was also this guy at the front desk when we checked in and he was pretty grumpy looking and it seems like he's doing us a favour whenever we ask questions. We never saw him smile and we have no idea why this guy was in the front desk at all! We're so glad to not see him the next day - there was another person stationed at the front desk and he's heaps helpful and nice. Breakfast was good and they even let us have an early breakfast as we were leaving at 6am after our 2nights stay. We also found a great place to eat just around the corner -it's a cake shop + eatery. The sweets were super yummy, request for a taste test before buying - they were very obliging. Don't think 2x...this is a good hotel, and nice neighbourhood.
The grumpy looking guy at the front desk on the 1st day we arrived.
Unfortunately this is one of many hotels in India that try to rip off foreign travellers. In English, when you take money from somebody without being given permission, we call it stealing. That's what Ahuja residence does. When using a foreign credit card, they will charge it in your home currency (eur, usd) not inr. They will do so at a very bad rate. On top of that, the credit card receipt will say, falsely, that you have been offered a choice of currencies (not true) and that you refused to pay in INR (not true). I challenged them and they were not willing/able to charge me in INR. They will say the payment terminal doesn't allow it which is not true. Whether this is incompetence or deceit i don't know but fact is i paid about 3% more than i should have due to this practice. Only if all travellers who are ripped off like this protest will unscrupulous hotels and their banks change their tactics.
