This was my first time visiting Kolkata.
This was my first time visiting Kolkata. I had heard that it was very congested, old, run down and dirty. I found it to be the same as most of the other big cities in India. Liked the history. However the old Kolkata could do with an uplift. To preserve some of the old buildings they need to be refurbished.

City of joy as the mane suggest is a happy city.
City of joy as the mane suggest is a happy city. Not too expensive as compared to other metros. Food is mind blowing. Street food is recommended. For shopping gariahat or new market. Local sightseeing can be done via uber which is comparatively cheaper. Nicco park would take an entire day, mind u. Rest u can cover in two days. Plan your itinerary in advance. Wax museum and ecological park are nearby. New market n Indian museum are adjacent, so n all. Hence plan like that. Happy stay.

Very inhospitable right from prepaid car services at airport...
Very inhospitable right from prepaid car services at airport to hotel booking services to hotel rooms. Sorry to have visited the city :(
Every thing went wrong right from the moment we walked out of the airport because we couldn’t speak Bangla. Total chaos between hotel booking sites and the hotel owners, as both of them seemed to be at loggerheads with each other and the poor visitor had to bear the ire.
Even the Uber drivers use worn out ambassadors as taxis, and get broken down midway with no option but to hire another worn out Uber .

It's a vintage city, full of people and their lives, rags to richest ( They literally lives side by side.) Vehicles blows unnecessary horns and people spits too much. People are friendly, overall. (Many Shopkeepers behaved rudely if bargains). Weather was warm even in winter. Plenty of options for food.
The breakfast was excellent, the staff very accommodating, best omelette in india. Very nice staff, food was delicious with a huge array of amazing Indian and European foods, fresh waffles, juices, honestly I was taken aback at the Fairfield it is on par with the ITC West Bengal when it came to food. Loved the young staff and a manager that was a girl…. Girl power, yes. Travelled alone, felt extremely safe, would return, relaxed atmosphere I was in my ZEN there. Will return
The staff was really kind with us...Mr Asit and Ms Krishna were wonderful hosts preparing amazing breakfasts for us! I loved that, also if as foreigners we asked for a continental breakfast, every morning they added a different little Indian sweet to our meal...it was a nice surprise!
And thank you to Babai...it was really nice to spend some time chatting with you!
The place is cozy and has all what we needed...and the kindness of its workers is at the top of the list!
During this trip I have visited three different cities in India. Holiday INN was far the best compared to two other hotels. Well, actually it has met all my expectations which I got used to in London and Europe.
And especially nice gastronomic experience. Safe (which is especially sensitive in India) and extremely delicious dinner with authentic Indian dishes. Order of following dishes one by one makes sense here! I had very nice dinner on Tuesday 12/07/2022. Thanks!
The hotel is located in the middle of Park Street. It is a prime location in kolkata, from where yiu can get metro, bus & cabs easily.
The room, bed and bedsheets, washroom are very clean.
Room is filled with all the amenities. Multiple options are available in the breakfast.
One thing I should say that all staffs and their Manager are very polite and humble. They are always ready to help you.
Thank you very much team "Park suites" for your help. Thank a lot.
EVERYTHING. The location is right across the street from American consulate so it's very safe area. The owner and all her staff is very kind and efficient. Don't let a dubious entrance and building front fool you. The room is so big you can fit 5 single beds in there
The bathroom is very clean with good ventilation. The place is handsomely renovated. The breakfast is the best of all the hotels I've stay in India. I can't recommend this place enough.
A heritage hotel that is in the heart of Kolkata and the legendary New Market, amazing staff who will make you feel at home. The property offers amazing beds and outstanding breakfast. Truly outshines the competition in the area, truly an amazing experience. Food at Baan Thai is truly something else, I can't recommend this hotel enough for people looking for a place near New Market or Park Street.
We stayed one night in the King suite and though it's not a very large room (normal hotel room size) it was perfectly adequate. The greatest thing about this place was the bed... Possibly the best in India!? Also, the WiFi and hot water worked perfectly and breakfast was great. The staff was very attentive and helpful with food orders, luggage, getting a taxi etc.
Great hotel in affordable price range. Nice breakfast with awesome Kitchen stuffs. Really appreicate the help of kitchen stuff for suggesting the right medicine for my wife's stomach problem. Surely, will look forward to stay again in The Crystal whenever visiting Kolkata next time. Thank you for your service.!!
Exceptional staff and beautiful historic hotel. Mr Tapas Garai, Mr Tanmoy and Ms Kakasha were extremely helpful. Ms Kakasha has continued to help us with our trip across India. All staff were happy and hospitable. We enjoyed being greeted each day by the friendly doorman. We had an excellent stay in Kolkata.
Nice location,2 min walking distance to main road and bus stand.
Staff also good. The best thing was,it's delicious food.
The best meal in our whole trip to Kolkata.
Would like to visit once more for the food.
Was willing to stay on our return trip in the same hotel, but its kind of far from the airport.
Perfect place for staying, Kolkata should be proud of Grand Oberoi. Everting was perfect, it was my birthday and the staffs of the hotel surprised me with cake and room decorations. Special thanks to Sanjay, Siddharth and Bhwawana. In fact they all are excellent- full of positivity.
I loved the pool, which is large and pretty unique in Kolkata for a hotel of this price range. My two-room suite was large and nicely furnished, and I liked that it had a fridge. The breakfast buffet was quite large and good. The staff was competent and friendly.
This is a best budget hotels I was being. Cheap and best. Owner is also a great guy. He even came carried out lagage ( it's 40 kg). Found some friends too. Highly recommended. Even though this tells I'm an Indian actually I'm a Sri Lankan.
This hotel is worth to stay, every time we come kolkata. Front office staff are very cooperative.
Food quality is very good. Ambiance very exciting. Location very good. House keeping upto the mark. Clean lobby & rooms.
This is a very nice hotel in the centre of Kolkata. The staff are superb. The room was very comfortable. Food was generally very good - breakfast is excellent, one of the best breakfast buffets that I have seen.
Best location, clean, secures your privacy and budget-friendly. Absolutely the best cost performance among the places I stayed in India (not just in Kolkata)!
