I liked the location of the hotel.....near the river. It was really great to stay in a palace like hotel.
Dirty, cold room, with no TV (which should be there according to the description). Insects in the room (and a lizard), no hot water, unhelpful staff. And location on Google maps is invalid. Highly NOT recommended.
The courteous and helpful staff ably led by Mr.Sood, the Manager. Excellent location and well looked after rooms. In winter it is wonderful to sit by the fire in the lawns and eat the nicely prepared snacks/dinner. It is really peaceful to sit in the balcony and see the river gently flowing by. We could easily walk down to the major places of interest or take a tuk tuk We had a real good time.
We stayed for 1 night n December. there happened to be a 1000 guest wedding that evening which for us, travelling from Australia was a delight to watch. the owner showed us around personally and kept checking on us to make sure all was well. set on the banks of the river, a peaceful lovely place to stay. our room was clean and comfortable, the property had lots of character. really enjoyed our stay.
Gardens and outside the hotel very nice and green, we would hope that the staff could care the rooms as much as they care the gardens !!!
Booking done through booking.com so the hotel didn't care much about our request. We have booked for 2 nights stay for a couple and we got two simple beds. The room wasn't very clean (little mouse was giving us company in the room) and was very cold. We didn't get hot water (December) for 2 days even after two requests at the reception, the boiler in our toilet was broken and no one care to repair it in order to get hot water. We have asked two times to change the room but the answer was " hotel full no possible" and it didn't seem to us that the hotel was full. The very nice room that we saw on the website are they really exist ?? because that was not the case for our stay. The food is expensive with no taste. The full money deposit was asked at the arrival and after that no one care much about it. Even if the outside and gardens are very nice, we will never recommend this hotel to our relatives.
Everything about the place: Good food Good Room Good location
No TV was there. No phone network
The huge rooms, with a sitting area that has a fireplace and a balcony that overlooks the river Betwa. Even the bathroom was huge!!! The food which was was like sitting down to a home cooked meal, the breakfast buffet has a lot of options. The staff were extremely helpful, the manager in particular made it a point to walk around the place frequently and always asked us how we were faring, gave us tips on what to do etc. The dining room decor looks like a genuine palace room, it was very quaint. The hotel is close to all the sights, yet it is splendidly isolated, very peaceful. If you go rafting with Madhya Pradesh Tourism, the raft stops at the riverside just next to the hotel, which is really convenient.
The wi-fi was only available in the lobby which is so breezy that it gets cold in winter. You can't sit there for long.
Very peaceful location and comforting ambiance. The sound of the river flowing and the birds chirping makes your stay melodious and memorable. One must go there to unwind and experience nature in its most original state - clean river, fresh air, vast forest cover and silent surroundings.
Food options were very limited and continental menu needs to be either removed completely or needs a trained chef for it.
Views of river from room/balcony. Evening music and open fires in the garden. Friendly, efficient staff. Good tandoori food.
Location / Riverside
Twin bed were allocated while I opted for King Size bed in booking.
Everything in the hotel, which actually is more like a retreat. I recommend to stay more than one night. From the location by the river, the staff, the beauty of the garden and of the place, it was very very beautiful and everybody was nice. It was like a little paradise, calm and relaxing.
the food at the restaurant. I had pasta to make a pause with indian food and it was awful. My fiancé got regular indian food and was seek all noght long and for a week
The river facing rooms
Dirty pool; no tv; no water
Oasis of calm after a long trip through India. Lovely grounds and comfortable rooms.
All food and drink is overpriced - right down to the bottles of mineral water which is a shame, especially when you're already paying so much for the rooms. We only stayed here as I couldn't find other accommodation options on booking.com, but there are other hotels in town, so a wider internet search would have been better on my part.
Mouse in the bed and the staff who was so unpleasant.
Very friendly staff & manager, wonderful garden, colonial furniture, a bit worn but with great charme. Located directly on the river. Beautiful old hunting palace.
No real disadvantage, but be aware it is a 15 min walk outside town or a 5 min ricksha ride.
Slightly long wait for food.
Location is superb.
Complementry breakfast should have included.
