Good location, friendly manager (to your face, that is, laughed with another guest who decided to mock me for some reason) clean
Rock hard bed Freezing room with no blankets (seriously -we didn't sleep we were so cold) Was put in a small windowless room first off, which was extremely overpriced (3 x too expensive) Slightly better room after requesting, still twice the price should have been Draughty windows that we used towels to block ourselves Have to ask for everything; towels, toiletries Sales pitches for fabrics from the owner Restaurant is not in the building and pretty unappealing All in all, extremely overpriced and bad value, and zero sleep, hated it.
Best aspect is the location in the Old City very close to the river so easy to relocate in the maze of alleys nearby. Staff and the manager 'Lucky' were very courteous and helpful in arranging a guide and airport transfers. Room and bathroom clean but as a budget guesthouse faciities are not luxurious. Wifi generally worked ok by local standards but not always.
Location & staff was trying to help and seemed friendly.
Breakfast is not much. If you book tours through them be ready to be overpriced.
Nice Staff, located near Ganges and the City Center
Bad money value, noch roof
The guest house is very well located, very close to the main ghats. The manager is very frendly and helpful. The room was well appointed and comfortable. Breakfast is at another location, though close by, and was average.
I think it is somewhat expensive, at least for what they charge through Booking.com. I know I paid more than the usual because it was a festival time, but even the regular price seems a bit too much.
Good location even if difficult to find. Good shower!
No restaurant on premise and the one that supplied the included breakfast was just okay. Another restaurant closer, Shiva Restaurant was excellent. Pricier than most in the area.
Friendly, helpful manager Near to ghats
Small, damp room with no window No communal areas Not good value for money, at least compared with other hotels and guest houses in the rest of India
hospitality from the heart-wonderful,helpful manager(shashank)and staff.Rail ticket assistance was outstanding.
cruet sets should be kept in all rooms.
The hotel has a shuttle service from the airport (Rs 850) with a nice and good driver collecting you there and another staff member who will collect you at the entry to the old town and show you the way to the hotel. therwise it would be very hard to find! The rooms a nicely decorated - at least the two outer rooms which also have a balcony (the smaller rooms on the inside are pretty basic and dark). The rooms are clean, the AC works fine and we could get a good rest there. The rooftop terrace is great - from there you have an amazing view on the Ganges and some Ghats further away. The manager - Shashank - is really nice and helpful. He shows you around and also gives you tips to where to to. He can also arrange a driver for a daytrip through the town. Also the Wifi worked great - much better than anywhere else in India we have been!
Actually we really liked it there. The only problem we had was that the shower was cold - but as it was so hot at the time we were there, we didn't bother to change this. Prepare also for a bit of a shocking arrival - the Old Town of Varanasi and the location of the hotel isn't quite for weak nerves..
Ganges inn is perfectly situated in Varanasi, but as others said, is hard to find the first time. My tip, ask a local to guide you and give him a small tip at the end, it makes it very easy! The rooms were surprisingly very nice and better looking than in the pictures! Anytime we needed directions, the staff guided us which was very helpful since we are 2 young girls traveling together! Overall great experience!
Cleanliness, arrangement of furniture.
perfect location. very nice manager and crew. meal was delightful.
no window or balcony. however all same in Varanasi. It is a "minus" of hotel itself.
The location of the hotel, and the helpfull staff in the hotel
Excellent location for solo travelers. Staffs are very humble and helpful.
the politeness and helpfulness
nothing to mention
Location on the Ganges only feet from the Gatt, Owner, staff. Air conditioner
Perfect location, air conditioner and Staff are very helpful. The manager, mr. shashank is very friendly.
such a good place!!! very friendly, very smily personel and the MANAGER Shashank! the room with balcony has an interesting and unusual design. Even surprising for India, but amasing. very good location: near the River, near the central ghat, the street is full with interesting shops and nice cafes
The family which lives upstairs can be noisy. And be careful with drying you clothers on the balcony. One monkey ate my T-shirt.
Clean and comfortable stay not far away from Munsi Ghat.
No arrangement for lunch and dinner during this off season (April).
We stayed 5 nights for what we might have had to pay for one at a 5 star hotel - it wasn't luxury but it was very comfortable, the staff were just wonderful and the location was the best - a two minute walk to the main ghat. It took no time at all to get your bearings and wandering around/shopping in the old city in the lane ways was magic. The wi-fi was also the best I had in India and we stayed in a few higher rated hotels. The staff couldn't do enough to help us but were not at all intrusive. The breakfast omelette is awesome and the coffee is OK as well.
liking does not arise, next day we have shifted to a new hotel in the main road with all the best facilities.with 50% less charges.(hotel SAHU )
lodge is located in a very congested place far away from the main road.and comparatively tariff is on higher side.
Hotel situated 2 min from Munshi Ghat. Good loction. 5 min walk to Ghat were evening ceremony happens. We have easily found hotel - you just need to ask people for Munshi Ghat. Stuff friendly and helpfull. Room clean, nice bathroom and balcony. No problem with hot water. Good WIFI connection. Breakfast provided in a room.
Breakfast not very varied.
Location is excellent near to temple, ghat.well managed, owner Shashank sent us a taxi for pickup on Holiday (Colour day ) which is something greate. Thanks.
Staff were incredible, really looked out for us. Room decoration was really fun and the balcony was a nice addition.
Location - whilst close to the water, it would have been impossible to find on our own. And the restaurant they recommended gave us food poisoning
