Location is good
It is unattended. The rooms are dirty, on top of the closet they were two old tooth brush, a finished tooth paste and several implements. The TV was out of order and very very old. Wifi never worked. The telephone didn't works. Everything was in bad conditions and dirty. The terrace is acceptable and the food eatable. Non a recomendation
Jyoti Mahal is beautifully furnished as seen in photos.
Cleanliness and general upkeep is poor. When showering the whole bathroom would flood. Most things are covered in a layer of dust including restaurant area - would recommend eating elsewhere. Also watch out for shady characters hanging around reception area and if you have just arrived in India make sure you research prices. A man called Bill organised SIM cards and a driver for us, we later found the prices were highly inflated and only one of the three SIM cards actually worked.
Great people who are looking out for you all the time
Great rooftop restaurant with well priced menu and friendly staff. Spacious rooms in great location in Old Delhi area.
ambience; interesting antique furnishings; roof top cafe; easy walking distance to restaurants, shops & RR station
very slow service in restaurant (but to be fair-- it was Diwali holiday weekend and staffing was short)
The staff were very accommodating and the menu was good. The architecture and interior decoration was fantastic and created a very welcoming atmosphere throughout the hotel.
The first night we were there we couldn't work out how to use the aircon and had to be showm where the power was the next day. Day two resulted in no hot water even though it was advertised.
Original architecture but poor quality building.
Dusty, expensive, poor service, poor rooms, no credit card facilities, no atmosphere, rats on hotel... do you need more?
I enjoyed the friendly and helpful staff always on hand. The rooftop terrace is an additional bonus and a great addition to the beautifully kept hotel.
The manager of the hotel tried to cheat us on various occasions. He over charged us for taxi services by more than double the normal hotel taxi rate on two occasions. our airport taxi pick up was also never arranged dispite all our effort to arrange it. Afterwards the, when confronted aboyt tbe problem, the manager lied about it instead of applogizing. He also requested us to pay some kind of 17% tax on our hotel bill, even though the booking.com confirmation clearly included all taxes. There was no arguing with this man ad it was clear that he was out to maximize his profit with little heed to the customer's perception.
I was a returning guest, been here summer 2012 for the first time. Friendly staff, good food... Good to relax after riding the Leh-Manali-Hwy.
Most disgusting is that I can choose the kind of credit card to pay with during the online booking, but it is going to be completely ignored by the staff at the checkout counter, simply by pointing to the "no credits cards accepted" sign posted at the wall. Sure, Indians like cash and dislike tax duties.
Good sized rooms offer court yard interior. Friendly staff. Rooftop terrace is great for breakfast.
It was very nice to stay on this hotel, the people were very kind and always there for our request. Thanks a lot for your welcome and the next time we go to Delhi, we will go to this charming hotel!
Nice terrace; the whole architecture and decoration are really wonderful
rooms a bit dark, slow staff
The haveli style of building is very spowsling and the roof top terrace was great. The rooms were fine, and as is the way with much if the acommodation in India worn around hand edges but charming!
rooftop restaurant meals and service on the rooftop pick up at the airport easy to order taxis to the airport scales in the entrance to weight the luggage nice entrance friendly staff
not possible to pay by credit-card
When in Delhi I like to stay in Paharganj, and this little hotel was charming, clean, and friendly. The room service and menu were excellent for a hotel. It is full of character and the staff are very helpful and friendly. I shall stay there again on my next trip.
An initial problem with using my credit card and I had to advise them before hand and they were reluctant, until I said that I had booked through Booking.com... In the end it was not a problem though.
Great people, super rooftop, very nice place, peacefull. Good food. An excellent hotel
Liked this hotels location to great shopping and the rooftop cafe/restaurant. Staff very quick to respond to requests.
Our bed wasn't overly comfortable. 1st room smelled of cigarette so we moved. Noisy at the back of the hotel due to dogs barking (fairly common everywhere we stated tho) and noisy people in housing units close by.
The Rajasthan inspired feel was lovely. Soft beds, hot water and good water pressure. Rooftop restaurant. Close by to market shopping in the streets.. didnt feel like a touristy area so got to see daily life carry on around us. Rooftop restaurant staff were fun..
Menu needs to be updated with what's available. Salivated over a few things only to find out not available.
Nice rooms, but those on the ground floor are very noisy.
The staff was just the rudest team we encountered during our whole stay in India. Despite what they promise you can't pay by credit card.
Like very much the atmosphere in the hotel and the aria, where Jyoti Mahal is placed. It is the third time I have been stayin in Jyoti Mahal and for sure I will be back!
Staff friendly, for most part tried to be helpful. Located in a poor run down area, one gets a good sense of life for ordinary folks in this amazing country. The spontaneous street parade below my little balcony one afternoon made the stay memorable. Wifi always a plus when free.
Had understood breakfast would be included, for the 9000 Rs it certainly should have been and this was indicated on booking form. Also, no hot water took some getting used to. As did the constant noise from street below, roaming packs of dogs, car engines revving all through the night, loud shouting outside all through the night all made sleep difficult.
Hotel people helped me to plan hole trip in India
fantastic, atmospheric hotel in the middle of Paharganj area in Delhi, old haveli building, traditional rooms, beautifull roof top restaurant, very friendly staff, who cares for more.......
