Help with exchanging money (as ATM's don't usually work in Erbil) Help with arranging taxis Help with communicating with the airline. Wifi was excellent. Free bottles of water.
Would have liked to have received some more information about activities available in the city and region upon arrival. A leaflet about tours, etc. Bathroom could be refreshed (new grout around tiles, sealant around bath...)
The receptionist who was at the desk when I arrived was very helpful, i had to change my room and he was very responsive, the breakfast was good, the hotel is fairly close to the historical district, it is a bit far from the airport, always ask the price before you get on the taxi. Over all, a good experience. It is a bit pricy but I think normal for Erbil. In terms of cleanliness, the hotel is good if not excellent.
The owners and staff of this hotel in general are very nice people. However, one of three guys at the reception area was not professional. He was apparently talking about me in a language that I do not understand and giggling as I was sitting in the lobby after I checked out. I found it a bit odd. Please note that the other staff were friendly and respectful.
Location and staff
Very shabby, badly needs updating.
I Liked the Location, its near to City Center and Citadel.
The breakfast was so simple
On booking a it's mentioned 4 star .but it's look like 1 star..breakfast and service cleanliness is poor
Nice breakfast. Basic room, was fine for a night. Helpful staff. Didn't mind me waking them up to check in at 3 am, arriving from airport. Taxi knew where it was -- a big plus. Easy walk to Citadel. Lebanese bakery next door had wonderful smells.
Smokers in breakfast area. Yuck (despite no-smoking sign).
I was very pleased with my 2 night stay at the Safeer hotel. It was located in a very good location about a 10 minute walk from the Citadel and about a five minute walk from the nearest mall. Taxis are plentiful. There is a shop across the street that sells alcohol as well as kebab places and hotel across the street. One of the best things about this hotel is the owner Akram he speaks wonderful English and is very helpful. He responded right away to my email before I came here advising me to take the shuttle to get a regular taxi. It was good advice as I only paid 10 dollars this way. When we left he even got one of his staff to hail down a taxi for which we paid 7 denar back to the airport. Erbil is not a cheap city and the price of $90 a nice is very reasonable in my opinion. The room was clean and comfortable. There was a proper hairdryer in the bathroom which is a bonus. I liked the breakfast in the hotel. The scrambled eggs were delicious and there was bread, olives, cheese, orange juice, coffee and tea. It Was just right. I would recommend this hotel to others. Erbil is developing as a tourist destination but I imagine in a few years time it will be really wonderful due to the wonderful people who live there.
Nothing to be honest really.
Friendly staff Good breakfast Kettle in room
No alcohol (but you can get it at the hotel across the street)
The hotel's location was ideal. Very close to the vibrant citadel area, a 10 minute walk. The staff was very nice and helpful especially the very knowledgeable owner Mr. Akram. The break fast was very simple, yet very tasty especially the eggs. At first glance, the hotel may need some restyling, nevertheless for nostalgic people like myself, it was ideal, I liked the 70's style. Perhaps a lift needs to be installed at the entrance to facilitate access.
Clean, staff friendly, quiet, accetable breakfast. Free wifi.
Expensive. They do NOT take credit card (like most of Erbil) despite what it says on the booking.com website. You will need cash (either IQD or American Dollars).
Friendly and helpful management.
Access up steep steps is difficult for the elderly and the rooms look onto blank walls.
